"bad ping is an advantage" "poor third world kid abusing lag"

I remember in Lost Planet it happened a lot because next to your gamertag there was a flag of your country.

Once I was playing together with other mexican guys (that I didn't know) but there were three on my team and the other people began to insult us before the match, then my team won and (I ranked first btw)... the salt was real. My reputation dropped considerably during the time I played Lost Planet and Halo: Reach.

Then you're a minority, because BF4 is notorious for allowing high-ping players to completely ruin servers for low-ping/same-region players. Any player that is over 180 ping on a server will start to "degrade" the server for everyone else.

It's why DICE-LA hassled EA into making South American/Japanese servers.

That's got to be a joke..... HIgh ping is a disadvange in BF4 and in any other game. No point discussing it further. If you don't believe me, just play in a server where the ping is high (150). Get your ass handed to yourself.

In fact, I just played a match in an American server, and the delay I had compared to those with low ping was noticeable

you are wrong. high ping in bf4 is a huge advantage

high ping is always a disadvantage, I always get killed around corners if i have a high ping in a shooter since the opponent sees me turn the corner first before I get to shoot him

of course I've only played pc multiplayer games, no idea what sort of lag compensation p2p console games use

I always got called a hacker when I played COD4, which I found out to be a massive compliment, as I was good enough to kill them enough to be compared to a hacker haha. But I have never encountered a possible position where bad ping was ever an advantage.

just won some match on Rocket League like 8-3 and the dude brought up this argument

it aint the first time nor the first game either

what's funny is that under certain circumstances I bet that can be true? I know for a fact that in RL it's not, and I know for a fact that this was a random way of complaining about just sucking given the random ass third world dig

you ever encountered this? either told to you or felt like this guy from the other end? what are the games if any where this is truly advantageous?

edit: reason I encounter this often is playing in US servers from latin america btw

Yes, if you lag in some games you will be at an advantage and from the other players perspective you are either cheating / lag switching / whatever. Most people just leave the game when someone is skipping about.

All you can do is make sure you team up with people in your local region, if you team up witha player 1000 miles away, chances are you will have a laggy lobby and some of the players will suffer BADLY and it will ruin their game.

Personally I avoid games online where I am match made from the UK (with 8 ms ping to most UK servers) to people in far off countries and bad pings to me.

The worst offender last year was Destiny, Some PVP games were terrible and some players you could not shoot at all. It was with heavy heart I gave up on destiny, the final straw was trials osiris not being 100 % connection focussed, now all modes were laggy pieces of shit.

The fault is solely down to the devloper and how they match a lobby, if its purely ping based then it will be fine if there is enough players online at popular times.

I mainly play COD BO3 now as I get 16 ms ping lobbies mostly every game, UK french and German players of all abilities, connection and ping is king and done right (except for 1 weekend when 3arc tried to slip in SKBMM and connections went south with huge uproar)

COD AW was terrible, Skill based match making gave lobbies from Poland and Turkey, easily > 200 ms ping rubberband lag for me in UK. Where were the damn UK player noobs lol.....Dropped that game in a week.

Luckily on Bo3 high ping poor connection players get destroyed....thank god. If players with crap internet, sitting at mcdonalds wifi or whatever, then they should not get an advantage. All that happens is people kill their internet connection to get a boost (Lowering MTU and playing over mobile was a thing in COD AW lol).

Bad internet / poor ping advantage = users kill their connection via MTU / use 3G / Hotspot etc = everybody has a crap game = player base leaves game = dead game.

Gears.

From my experience:
Gnasher point blank to chest > nothing happens > laggy player shoots me after > I split in half > laggy player gets killed > no assist for me.

Plagues it. Although, Gears is notorious for it's wonky netcode.

I know it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but I have found that I play better in Rocket League with a ping of about 50-60ms than with 20-30ms.

I saved a replay of me playing with a higher-than-normal ping recently because I hardly whiffed anything at all compared to an average match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFVG8WNJQ4c

I wasn't doing anything I couldn't normally pull off ~70% of the time, but it just seemed like it was going right a little too consistently. As if I was being given the benefit of doubt by the physics to make up for the extra bit of latency. Again, I know it doesn't make any sense.
