Baking Soda is magical fairy dust

EDIT- I'd avoid using it on your face as it messes with the pH on your skin according to what people are saying.

Yesterday I was reading an article on Yahoo about skin care and in the comments section someone mentioned she uses baking soda + water to wash her face everyday. This morning I asked my mom for a container of it and then mixed a couple teaspoons with just a tiny bit of water to make a paste and used it on my face as a 'cleanser'. Holy mackerel, it worked so good. My skin feels great and it's also a extremely gentle exfoliant so you don't to use the ones that feel like sandpaper.

Best thing of all is that it's like 90 cents for a box of this shit.

I was looking up some other uses of it this morning and a lot of people seem to be putting it on their toothbrush (along with toothpaste) to brush their teeth. It whitens really well and cleans your teeth.

There's a TON of other uses for baking soda that you wouldn't expect, it's some sort of miracle compound.

Arm and Hammer has some marketing geniuses working for them. "We have people baking with it. Okay, lets use it as a deodorizer. Oh, and we can put it in toothpaste. Lets get people to use it as facial scrub. We've just quadrupled our sales."

I thought this would be about Heavy not showering and washing your balls in the sink again but now use baking soda as part of the cleaning process.

Also helps that it does those things, too.

Add the cranberry consortium and you get a peek into the dark world of the Illuminati.

Alright, you guys have convinced me. I'm going out to buy a palette of this miracle powder.

Yeah, it does have a lot of uses, but wouldn't washing your face with it too often be bad for your skin? Your skin has an acid mantle that protects you from contaminants and baking soda is alkaline.

Sore foot?

Baking soda and Epson Salt.

Baking soda and Epson Salt are just two of those dirt cheap, super simple products that have like a billion gooddamn uses. Brush your teeth with baking soda, mix Epson Salt with potting soil for growing tomatos.

I used Epson Salt as a laxative once. Tastes like shit and maybe don't use the full dosage because that shit cleaned me the fuck out.

Arm and hammer makes toothpaste, I love it. It really is one of the oldest remedies for a lot of issues in life :)

Is this safe?
I've been looking for a cheap way to whiten my teeth for ages, but I'm not sure if baking soda won't harm my teeth.

My daughter takes liquid iron as a daily supplement. It turns her teeth blackish after a few days. Brush her teeth with this stuff and they're back to a shiny white!

Really is amazing stuff.

Pools use it to raise the PH when it drops too low.

So you're swimming in it.

Can you feel it inside you?

I have gout and just heard the other day that a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water helps when there are attacks.

It's seriously worked numbers

The less you put on your skin the better. There's alot of natural ways your skin (and body) cleanse itself, try to avoid putting stuff on it as much as possible, it will only muck up your natural cleansing processes.

Yes, this includes regular soap.

The more natural you are, the more pure and one with yourself you are. TOTS AGREE.

Have you ever left your laundry in the washer a bit too long, and your clothes get that mildew scent? Toss some baking soda in, rewash, and that shit is taken care of!

also put it in the fridge/freezer to eat oder.
I put it in my homemade iced tea, it neutralizes the acid in the tea leaves.
also good for putting out grease fires.

I don't know if I'll stick with the face washing, maybe once or twice a week, because of that alkaline thing someone said, but I'm definitely gonna start doing the brushing with BS + toothpaste.

Probably gonna drink around ~5 eight ounce glasses of it per week as well. It'll taste horrible but it's just 8oz, you can down that in seconds.

Edit- just read that http://img.wonderhowto.com/img/original/87/35/63489119221363/0/634891192213638735.jpg

"makes your omelet fluffy"... wtf miracle powder

Doesn't brushing your teeth with too much of it (homemade as opposed to what's already added to some toothpaste) end up stripping the enamel?

I have only seen one study that looked at the abrasive properties of baking soda on teeth, and it compared baking soda to other whitening products. The study did find baking soda to be quite a bit more abrasive than other whitening toothpastes.

The rest of the stuff that I have heard is just anecdotal, but I tend to recommend against brushing with baking soda because it can be quite abrasive.

Baking soda has absolutely no effect on tooth paste. It's simply what it was made from. They later starting using it as a buzz word in the 90's to equal a deeper clean.

Not sure what to believe now
