Barack Obama 'says Benjamin Netanyahu doesn't know what is good for Israel'

It was supposed to be a smart arsed comment about how sometimes, criticism of Israel = anti-semitism.

Well, doing things that piss off your neighbors and then expecting your allies to still think you're awesome pretty much means that you don't know what's good for your house.

So I agree.

This is why Obama is awesome, although I wish he'd come out and say this himself. Too bad AIPAC is deep in the pockets of both parties.

It's too bad for the palastinians, for they are used as puppets of the region for attacks against the only free nation over there. Anyway, the Pres is misplacing his priorities along with being incorrect. He doesn't even know what's right for the US of A let alone the only free nation in the middle east.

Lol we've got a live one guys.

Anti-semite

This is too extreme. While I agree that Netanyahu is doing his best to destroy Israel, I don't actually think he's doing it out of some bizarre hatred for his own people. I think he's just lost sight of the political realities of foreign policy in the 21st century. Unfortunately, it probably doesn't matter much to the Israelis which is the case.

Well I think it's fair to say that in regards to settlements he's absolutely correct in that by their direct actions of continually building them they will NEVER achieve this "peace" they claim to want. And Mr. Netanyahu knows this, he HAS to know that the Palestinians will never simply roll over and say sure we accept everything you do, to the point of absorbing what's left of our little bits of land and create a very low second class citizen inside of Israel. Because that's what going to happen, everyone but Mr Netanyahu and a few others see that writing on the wall.

How exactly are the Palestinians being used as puppets these days, and by who?

By Arab nations around them and by Israel.

It is benefit for the arab nations ,when most were under dictatorship to use the Palestine situation to wag the dog and as soon as something bad happens they will make a rant against Israel to divert. Kind of like how sadam tried to get the arab world population with him by bombing Israel during the iraq war speared by US. Even though Israel was never part of the war. But Palestinian issue was used as a puppet.

Israel benefit from huge financial aid due to the conflict from palestine from United States. The fear of Palestine and bombing is just enough to get the sympothy and financial support. And just enough to make the people of Israel feel as if they are threatens by a group of people who are equivalent of 3rd world nation against a nuclear power.

The continuation of Israeli / Palestine benefit everyone (Israel,Arab nations) except Palestine. That is one of the main reason it will never ever will be solved.

It's not 1967 anymore.
Iran is giving some support to the Hamas in Gaza but that's about it.
You really think Syria, Jordan or Egypt use Palestinians for anything these days?

And more importantly maybe, the Palestinian struggle for self-determination might be meddled by external force, but its origins and management are Palestinians through and through.

isn't this the guy that killed* 1300 women, children, and innocent civilians to make his stance on the opposition look "tougher"?

*more like systematically tortured alive with white phosphorous powder falling from the sky.

yeah, fuck that coward.

Nah, he was in the opposition during the Gaza war.
That being said, pretty much every Israeli prime minister in the last 30 years had done something along those lines to get re-elected (outside Rabin maybe, but he got assassinated before he got the chance to properly run for re-election).

God damn Obama's got some big balls to say that! *slow clap*

I guess he can say things more freely now after being set for another 4 years or else the AIPAC lobby group would've butchered him in the election.

And I agree with what he says, Netunyahu's Right wing party is not even remotely interested in making peace. They are far better off keeping the violence going so they have an excuse to do whatever they want. I hope his party loses and maybe Hamas will get out of power as well and a real peace solution can begin.

why is Israel still getting support again?

Okay, actually there are other important contributing factors, but it's hard to Google image search for "racism."

Damn I wish this was a press conference. Thank you for posting!

Edit: The thread and article title also sound funny if you say them out loud in a campaign-ad-voice.

Some of you have a basic misunderstanding of what the US means to Israel. It isn't the financial or military aid that Israel can't live without, it's the political cover so Israel doesn't become a international pariah that Israel needs.

This isn't some unnamed source running their mouth, this is an administration sanctioned leak. Obama is going to "unconditionally" support Israel in public, but privately is starting to not provide political cover for Israel. I'm sure if Bibi doesn't change his policies are winning the election, Obama is going to stand aside while Europe isolates Israel.

That's how the game is played.
