Basement Crawl Out Today on PS4

I wonder if sony were going to make basement crawl the ps+ game for march but went with something else instead, like awesomenauts, as that game passed certification on the 21st but has had no release date announced yet

There's no singleplayer vs bots

So no thanks

Even for 9.99 this game will bomb (he he) and no online community will exist in a few months

Too bad, I love the classic bomberman gameplay

Yuck, no bots is bad. I play Bomberman Ultra from time to time and the bots keep it fresh for me.

Ok, I combined some questions from the thread and here are answers:

1. There is no single-player. If you (and by you I mean players overall, not only GAF) will want it post-release, we will most likely add it.
2. You don't need to buy second controller, you can use PS Vita as one if you have it.
3. The "exciting opportunity" will be revelead and discussed in details next week. I don't want to tease anything, without giving specifics.
4. At this point there is no way of turning the gore off, it might be available soon (we plan on releasing several patches with additional content and changes, so any feedback is welcome).
5. 4 players local multi and 8 players global, you can also take 4 people from local and play global 4v4 TDM.
6. We didn't delay the game so the reviewers like it better, that would be stupid. The delay was not related to quality of the game, but additional time allowed us to change several things.
7. There is no demo version.
If you have anything more - I'll be here for a few hours.

That is true hehe.

Yeah its not for kids it rated M.

I know it's M, but I never understood what's so hard about having a gore and adult language toggle.

It doesn't have to be cutesy like plants vs zombies for kids to like it, don't starve is dark and my kids love it.
So many games could be family games with just a simple toggle.

Edit...just saw Marc's post. Sounds like there will be a lot of after release support!

Please do. I know it would be extra work for the team but a lot of people would appreciate it. Thanks!

I think I add this to the OP.'

If you don't mind?

It was delayed partly for a reason which you refuse to detail until a week after release? Why are you guys being so cagey?

Everything surrounding this title is bizarre. First, a delay just before release. And now somewhat of a stealth release...

This isn't the way to develop consumer confidence.

Btw aren't you guys worry about just throwing the game out there with little build up?
As an indie developer we have limited resources, so building up hype for a game is pretty hard, especially if you have to compete with major titles like Thief. Even though it's a PS4 title it's not that easy to reach media for example, however some of them are really, really cool guys (from our point of view). I think indies have to rely on quality of their games, rather than building up towards release, as well as format holders' support like Sony. Pretty hard question overall.

I think I'll pick this up. I've got two controllers but nothing to play. This and Towerfall will work nicely. My friends and I lost hours to Bomberman's XBLA release, so hopefully this can fill that whole.

There's no bots right? But if my friend and I want to play online together, we can right?

Has it been mentioned anywhere if the Vita (through remote play) can be used as a second controller a la lego marvel?

Should be a given in local multiplayer games.

Ah I understand makes alot of sense.

Hope the game does well for you. :)

single player with bots is a big deal, imo. i'm still considering buying the game regardless though.

I was interested in this when I saw the initial trailer. Made it seem like a horror game was coming. Very misleading. I'm sorry to say that this is not a happy turn of events. =(

Downloading the game right now will be doing a Twitch stream once it's done also for those who own the game, add me djblue_89 so we can get some games in.

I'll post back once the stream is live with a link.

Might buy if SP is added. No objections against the gore, quite the contrary, it's a refreshing change given the genre.

It's bad.

The dark gritty theme of this game feels so off and the art direction is poor, even the framerate seems to dip into the 20's. I regret giving them my money.

This is total garbage, I can't even get into a game...

Game looks bad.

Its like the theme and gameplay dont match at all.

Its horror, but its also Bomberman. The fuck?

Oh well. Guess I'll sit this one out, then

I was watching a live stream of this earlier, and I was likeÂ…..what am I looking at??? Didn't know what was going on the screen, and even the player was like yea dude, I have no idea whats going, I don't even know what player I am. lol

But he was saying it was a fun game after he got in a couple games though. it looked veryÂ…Â….choatic. I think some will like this type of game play. But it aint for me though.

Quick update for you guys - we are now working on solving the issues with online multiplayer, that you are experiencing. We have never occured anything like this in our internal QA, so we need a bit of time to identify what causes these problems. We'll release a fix ASAP, as well as patch some gameplay related problems, that people noticed. I'm really sorry about that. If you have any problems with the game or feedback, you can mail us at support(at)basementcrawl.com, it'd really help us.

too bad it hasn't single player (yet?). Was looking forward to Basement Crawl and I'm not quite sure if I'm always in the mood to play local / online MP.

+1 for single-player add in post-release.

Got this yesterday.

Well it crashed waiting to get in my first game which was obviously a bummer, but stuck with it and got into a couple of games. I am very bad at it but it doesn't really give you any idea what to do so you just keep on trying to work out whats going on while playing.

A tutorial or SP to give you an idea of what each button does and when to use them would be great, it's quite a fast game so it's difficult to see what is happening on screen as a noob and sometimes your not even sure which character you are. Also it seems like when the game ends you have to go back and jump into another game rather than a lobby situation where another game is played after 30 seconds or so of looking at the previous game stats. This breaks the feeling that you might have been getting somewhere with the controls and game when you have to go back to a gamelist and hope that the game you pick next is not going to bug out or crash.

It might be quite good fun but I never particually enjoy not knowing what I'm doing and actually came off gutted that I'd bought it, hopefully some patches and a decent wiki might help me change my mind.

So is it basically bomberman, or is it spy vs spy?

I'm interested in this too as a bomberman fanatic.

Is the mp community for the game enough to sustain it?

i want an option to use private rooms

i wish this used grid/tile movement like bomberman, i seem to always get stuck on the corners of indestructible boxes while trying to move, but i guess that's something i'm going to have to get used to

i also sometimes get stuck on my own bombs so i don't know what's going on there...

i like the game but i hope bloober will actively patch this otherwise i probably wont be playing for too long

If you wait after a game ends it will automatically start a new one and let you choose a character again. It's not flawless though, as there was one bug were I finished a match, the next one started and my character was invisible and I couldn't do anything, so I had to quit out
