Batman: Arkham Asylum - 2.5+ million shipped

Well deserved. By far the best game I've played this year.

This is also one of the (very) rare games that gets a total GAF green light. Even last year's surprise hit Dead Space got some haters, but AA seems to be loved by everyone who plays it. I've been reading the official thread for quite some time and I haven't come across a single negative impression.

It joins the select ranks of RE4 and Mario Galaxy, about the only games I can remember being loved by all on this board

I've been waiting for an excuse to use this gif of batman celebrating with a breakdance

That was made close to where I live, I can tell by the look of the place and the metro passing by. (notice the stm) :D

I've bought all three versions, will probably buy a few more copies at Christmas for gifts. GOTY for me, only superhero game that matters...

Can't wait for a sequel or more DLC...I'll pay good money for a DLC expansion of the campaign while we wait for Batman: Gotham City or something

The success is definitely deserved. This game is a perfect example of devs showing love for what they do

Exactly, it made me remember why I love playing games and the massive difference between great games and just OK games (90% of all that other junk); hopefully other developers took notice and will follow suit to make a passionate well-done game!

That's alot of money....

How many copies PS3 and 360 individually would have sold.

Hmm... Half!

Oh and Rocksteady, I'm really happy for you, and Im'ma let you finish, but The Adventures of Batman & Robin for Sega Genesis was one of the BEST BATMAN GAMES OF ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME!

Just saying...

Like Metriod Prime, a lone dev comes out of nowhere and schools everyone else.

They out-Bourne the Bourne game with the fighting. It makes you feel invincible.

Just got my 100% trophy this evening - easily my favorite game on the PS3 (thus far). :D

Just hope the sequel isn't rushed.

I just finished story mode on normal on the PC version and it was absolutely amazing. I am working on the Riddler puzzles and challenge rooms right now and when I'm finished up with those I will probably go through the game again on hard. It is definitely one of the best games this year.

Don't want to take the time to download, don't want to deal with being online, don't want to take the time to re-download should you want to re-install, don't like running background processes, preference for tangible items. I am a steam supporter and don't want to derail the thread, I'm just sayin PC gamers need to stick together and should be respectful of one-another :P
Not to mention retail is cheaper than Steam in a lot of regions.

Rocksteady should get as much time as they need for the sequel.

Unlike Bioshock, there are limitless possibilities for a Batman sequel and I can't wait for what they come up with.

Great game and lots off fun, loved the voice acting all the riddler secrets and the pretty good graphics. Only it was a little bit to short, the boss battles were kinda repetitive and whats up with all the ventilation vents and breakable walls :lol

Anyways, together with infamous it might be the most fun game i played this gen.

Good news for Rocksteady and Eidos. I've played the demo and when I'm finally able to pick the game up, I'm sure I'll love it.

Glad they didn't try to rush this game out to meet some type of financial quota or hard deadline. Sometimes delays are good, and this game turned out for the better for it.

There is no need for a sequel ATM, but when it comes, it should have some co-op with Robin.

LOOOOOOOL NO

On both accounts for gods sake NO. Robin is horrible, and Coop in a great single player experience like this will ruin it. Ugh just the thought alone makes me cringe.

Explain to me why every good single player game suddenly needs coop?

Unless you're buying the CE I don't see the reason for a retail copy. It's just another box to take up space in your house and another disc to take up space in your album if you toss boxes (tough the new non-cardboard boxes are hard to want to toss).
Plus its more eco-friendly...

Why limit it to co-op? Just wait and we'll have the inevitable challenge room deathmatch.

Really really liked the demo, I will buy this game as soon as cash becomes available since I made really big purchases this week. :D

Agreed 100%. I also hope that Rocksteady does not introduce lame Batmobile/Batwing sequences in the inevitable sequel. They showed both focus and restraint in all the right areas in Arkham Asylum, and I hope they don't just start adding elements like that in an attempt to "top themselves."

Well deserved and mega kudos to Rocksteady. I can honestly say that I never expected in a gazllion years that AA would turn out to be my GOTY.

No, seriously. This game was better off without Robin for the same reason the movies are better off without Robin.

The game was great but Robin is definitely needed in the sequel. Local co-op is needed too. Wouldnt mind seeing the batmobile in action too.

GRIN needs to take notice. Make a quality game. Release a good demo. Your game has a good chance at selling.

Grin doesn't exist anymore, there's no way they will be taking notes.

You're weird...

coop = crap for this type of game and it would kill the atmosphere.

Considering batman takes up like 40% of the screen, it's probably more accurate to say co-op would obscure the atmosphere.

Finished the campaign mode last night, this game fucking rocks. Now, time to go back and get 100%. :)

Rocksteady, do not listen to the pleas for co-op or Robin. Rocksteady, do not listen to the pleas for co-op or Robin. Rocksteady, do not listen to the pleas for co-op or Robin.
