Batman: Arkham City Spoiler Thread - I Have Powerful Spoilers, Batman.

Something I didn't quite catch. When you infiltrate the Steel Mill for the second time, Harvey is tied up and gagged. Who did that?

Talia.

She intercepted her and took the cure from her. Which is why Joker wasn't cured at the end.

Finished it up earlier today, enjoyed it. Story had some loose ends and I'm not sure if I really want a sequel on an even bigger scale. If they do, then I hope they bring Two-Face back and flesh him out. He was very lame in this game, especially compared to his TAS and comic appearances (The Long Halloween for instance).

I also disliked the final fight with Clayface out of a story perspective: It's not that I mind the plot twist, but it's a bit weird how the one you're fighting at the end isn't one of the main villains of the game. It's not Strange, it's not Ra's, it's not even the Joker. Clayface just kind of pops up out of nowhere (as an antagonist).

By the way, when it was said that Strange came to Ra's with Batman's identity, I didn't think that implied that Ra's didn't know about this before. Just that, to Ra's, this was proof of Strange's competence and intelligence and that's why Ra's decided to help him.

P.S.: I was hoping Bane really did turn into a "good guy", like in his later comic arcs.

You could definitely tell Dini shaped the story with the weird sexual tension between Oracle and Batman. I hated that about the animated series and I disliked it here.
*scratches head* Do you have any examples of that? I never got the impression there was some kind of sexual tension with the dialogue between Batman and Oracle.

Oracle is jealous of Talia in several scenes, telling Batman he's dumb for going after her etc. And Batman is like 'Barbara, bitch please. I'll give you some Bat junk when I get the fuck outta here, cool?'

I got more the impression Oracle was trying to convince him to make sure his priorities are straight, like not going to save Talia instead of stopping Strange which he was close to doing. I've never watched the animated series or read any comics, so I dunno if they were referring to something specific regarding Batman/Oracle/Talia.

If there's any sexual tension, I'd say that's between Catwoman and Batman, with her constantly flirting and him not seeming to mind. Catwoman is the only character Batman tells a joke to as well (unless I'm missing or forgetting something else in the game).

Nah, she was just calling him out for being dumb. Its Barbara and Dick that have tension, not Barbara and Batman's.... y'know

The games are their own canon, I'm pretty sure she's still crippled.
They have their weird little canon where they pick and choose from current canon and shove it in haphazardly. Hell, I don't think their little mini Bios can be considered canon considering this iteration of Azrael is Michael Lane, the Batman impostor from Morrison's run, who Batman acts as if he's never met before.

So I just beat the game, Harley is basically confirmed to be the big Villain in the next game.

Not really. There's quite a few hints you can find lying around that say Scarecrow is going to have a massive part in the next game. I do think Harley and her child will have an important part to play as well, but I doubt it will be anything close to her being the main villain.

After playing the hell out of this game (beat it on Normal, beat NG+ on Normal, going through all the challenges now, and then going to start a new game on Hard), I'm kind of interested in getting into the Batman universe, be it comics or TV shows. Any suggestions for where to start? I read Batman Year One but it seemed pretty boring to me. Got through it in two sittings and nothing interesting really happens (although maybe that's because it's basically the same theme as Batman Begins). Any comics I should read that are good? I loved the style of Arkham City, so maybe I should watch the animated series?

You didn't like Year One... so sad. And Batman Begins is like Year One, not the other way, hehehe.

Long Halloween, Cataclysm and Contagium are good series.

I like the crossovers. Batman-Spiderman and Spiderman-Batman are fun.

There is one with Boston (the ghost) where they go to South America. It is really good.

And my favorite: Return of the Dark Knight. But I don't know if you would like it. It is like Year One, but in there, Batman is old. Actually, is one of the DLC suits. I like this one because Batman punch that stupid Superman all over his stupid face. (Yes, I hate Superman)

I'd think Hush could have a big part as well, given how that sidequest ended.

Just finished.

What a fucking game! Man, that was excellent all the way through. This was a year of huge quality titles, from Portal 2 to Dark Souls, but Batman AC is absolutely my favorite out of all of them.

I have 10 riddler trophies left to collect and a couple of riddles, then the riddler challenge rooms and whatever the campaigns are.

The only part of the campaign that bugged me was the fight with Mr. Freeze. It seemed so unnecessary considering the circumstances.

Freeze: "Help me."

Batman: "Okay."

Freeze: "Die Batman!"

Batman: "Can't let you do that."

Freeze: "Okay."

Stuck out as arbitrary. Was probably my favorite fight in the game though, so can't complain too much.

Three questions:

1. There is a riddler trophy in wonder city, above a breakable platform, in a room with water (the first room that mentions "Arcadia" on the wall). There is no way to reach it. Closest I can get is by standing on top of the line launcher, but there's nothing I can do up there to interact with the wood platform in order to break it. I tried grappling up from an ice platform on the water to see if I could grapnel boost into it, but I don't get high enough.

There were at least three other riddler trophies in the room, two of which are accessible after getting the ice bombs if that helps anyone remember where it's at. I haven't had help with any other riddler thing, but this one has me totally stumped. If someone could provide a clue, that would be awesome. I'd like to figure it out on my own but I have no idea what to do.

2. What happens if you choose to exit Arkham City without helping Batman after recovering the briefcases as Catwoman?

3. Are there any clues that Joker might not be dead outside of the fact that things get kind of weird following his death? (Talia vanishes, Batman carries Joker instead of looking for her, Clayface enters the Lazarus pit, Batman blacks out, etc... makes me think maybe he's Scarecrow tripping or something)

2. What happens if you choose to exit Arkham City without helping Batman after recovering the briefcases as Catwoman?

Game over, credits and there's a brief voice clip of Oracle talking over the credits asking for help from anyone because batman is dead etc etc ..

but half way through the credits everything "rewinds" and you're brought back to when you pick up the briefcase as Catwoman so you can choose again.

Those missions are supposed to happen back-to-back timeline-wise right, so it wasn't actually 6 hours? Or does the Protocol Ten announcements occur to give a timeframe and I'm misremembering?

I got the 6 hours figure from roughly the time when she goes in and the time when you fight Joker in the Steel Mill. It really is that long.

I have a question:

My last Catwoman mission involved Poison Ivy, leaving her entangled and about to be killed. The game then switches to Bats after being shared by Joker's blood. When will I get to control Catwoman again?

Not until near the end. There's only 4 Catwoman segments iirc, and the final one plays out after the main story is over.

I was asking if things are happening linearly, or if the Catwoman stuff is happening in parallel to the Batman stuff.

I've completed the main game, but I've never seen a second Deadshot murder occur, despite seemingly having covered the whole map. Is there a second trigger I missed?

Also, how did Batman get the cure back to Gotham? I never saw that happen.

I hope Joker stays dead.

He took all of the attention away from awesome villains like Ras. I would have much preferred the endgame center solely on Strange and Ras' plot.

They should have played up Strange's obsession with Batman more. He doesn't do much for most of the game and considering it is his last appearance they should have accelerated his character arc(wanting to replace Batman, also for the reason that he wants to take his place in Ra's eyes). Drop a lot more hints, then have his last encounter be him dressed as Batman.

Personally, for the next game I hope they make Ra's and/or a revived Talia the main villain. I want that game to end with Bruce dying.

In case you haven't Googled or GameFAQed thi yet you need to create ice in the water at the bottom. Then you need to grapple boost up towards the roof so that you smash through the breakable part.
So your guess was right but you need to be at the right angle.

I unfortunately did not work this one out myself, it was the only trophy I couldn't work out and it drove me insane.

Thanks. I figured that was case, but I tried a couple of times and didn't gain enough air. Back down to wonder city I guess.

You can also change direction while riding the line launcher just as you pass under the platform. The flip Batman does while changing direction will break the platform. That's how I got the trophy.

Finally wrapped up the final catwoman misson earlier and man, what a game. Was even cooler going back to all the people left around the city Like Bane,Freeze and Penguin and talking to them.

Also visited Calendar Man and he talked ominously to Catwoman about her father..

DLC maybe?

Yeah I did that too. Did you hear the conversation with Catwoman and The Mad Hatter? Too bad Catwoman cannot talk with Zasz or Riddler.

oh, btw, what does Calendar Man do on holidays? Forgot to check in on Christmas.

You can change your system clock and get all of that dialogue too .. iirc there's an achievement for listening to all of his seasonal dialogues.

As much as I loved the story especially the last 20 min there is one thing bugging me...it seems out of order... shouldnt Ras Al Ghuls hideout been after the reveal that he is behind it all, just felt weird fighting him then finding out he was the mastermind...kinda feel like some dicey decisions were made during development...although it did make sense gameplay wise to go from the basement of the city to the top instead of vice versa

I totally agree. TBH, I don't even know why they thought the needed the last twist with Ra's behind behind it all. It made Dr. Strange a weaker antagonist, too, since he was just being manipulated as well. Really felt like overkill.

I really do think the game would have greatly benefited from a bigger focus on Ras instead of it becoming the Joker show again.

The game is about Arkham City after all, the plot should have focused more on the city's conception, execution, and the masterminds behind it.

Strange was really underused.

Oh well, welcome to Batman. As much as I want them to use other villains they'll always fall back on Joker.
