Batman: Arkham City VGA trailer

It would be really odd if AC and Dark Knight Rising both featured Strange as the primary villain. Even though the two Batman interpretations are completely incompatible, is this pure coincidence or Warner trying to pull the two closer together for co-marketing purposes?

Of course, the film rumours could be false.
Strange is like the polar opposite of the Joker, which is why I expect him to be in DKR. He's perfect for Arkham City for the same reason. He's the whole other side of the spectrum, something that we haven't seen.

Fantastic trailer.

As for folks unfamiliar with Hugo Strange, he's absolutely one of the better members of Batman's rogues gallery, albeit severely underutilized (at least that was the case back before I stopped reading Batman in the mid-90's). Denny O'Neil did some great Hugo Strange stories back in the late 70's/early 80's IIRC (complete with awesome Neal Adams art!), and they're excellent reads if you're at all interested.

Lots of Bats compilations out there, but I'm pretty sure at least a couple of them popped up in The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told TPB.
I think "Prey" from the Legends of the Dark Knight series is a fantastic Hugo Strange story. (An adaptation of it would work for Dark Knight Rises even.)

There's a sequel later in the run called "Terror" with the Scarecrow working with Strange.

Word is that's exactly what The Dark Knight Rises will be.

Interesting, haven't been paying much attention to the rumors/news on the film but that sounds like it could be pretty great then.

Would love to see some gameplay of Arkham City, but it really doesn't matter to me in the long run.

This is a guaranteed day 1 purchase.

Maybe the similarities to live action is why I thought Bats looked like a friggin' moron

Still, fairly hyped

This is the moment we've been working towards for years, where CG becomes so realistic it gets confused with the live action footage that went out of fashion 15 years ago.

Seriously. My reaction watching the trailer:

"Live action FMV? What is this? The 90's? This is lame...wait....holy fucking shit!"

I know, I pride myself on spotting very good CGI sneaked into films, and this got me foxed on a couple of times.

Ice cold.

Anyway, while it's great looking CG, it's nothing like the ingame graphics will be, so I find that kind of jarring.

I´ll be really disappointed if there isn´t a through-the-wall takedown in the game at least ONCE.

Don´t show it in the trailer if it isn´t in the game kittonwysmiley.gif

Through the wall takedowns were confirmed in the Game Informer article. So were smokebombs :D :D

Nice. Most of my batman knowledge is from the cartoons :(
He was the doctor in TAS that learned of Batman's identity and attempted to auction it off between Penguin, Joker and Two-Face.

I had the same thought :lol I hope I can grab Arkham Asylum for cheap from the upcoming steam sales. I really want to try it out before this comes out.

I take it this was done by Blur Studio again? Damn, these guys are good.

EDIT: I see I'm not the only one who thinks it ws made by Blur. :D

Yes, I've got a confirmation that it was indeed Blur! :)

What are the best Hugo Strange graphic novels?

I'll definitely be buying "Prey" -- any other recommendations?
"Prey", "Mad Monk", "Monster Men", "Terror" and the arc in Gotham Knights (which I do not think has been collected) are the only major ones he's had in the last few decades that I know of. "Prey" and it's follow up "Terror" were my favorites, but the other two aren't bad, they're done somewhat in the vibe of the older Batman comics though.

"Strange Apparitions" is the one from the 70s that the animated series episode is based around, no idea if it's been collected.

"Prey" alone is worth it in my opinion, even if there was nothing else.

It is out of print though, what are the chance of getting it under $100?

Woah, wait what? I thought the only CG was the very end when Batman was holding the guy off the building. Impressed.

Can't wait to get my hands on this.

Holy shit, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought wasn't CGI at first. Best CGI in a video game ever? I think so!

Between this and Forza 4, I pray there are no other marquee releases that interest me next November. I just won't have the time (or budget)!

I wonder how long and how much $ it took for Blur to create this. I want the next Batman animated series to look like this!

I'm also hoping this was the first of a series of CGI vignettes to introduce new characters for the game.

As i recall 1 min of Blur cinematics cost 1 million $.

Strange isn't even in Mad Monk.

Though yeah, all the others stories are great Strange ones.

I was hoping to see some actual game footage but this does indeed look awesome. Not really familiar with Strange but he seems like a great choice for this game. Looking forward to this one big time.
