Batman: Arkham Insider #5: Gotham by Night

Ooh, what's this?

That comic is weird as shit, BTW. Isn't a good match for the game in any way. Don't understand why they're bundling it other than the name.

Looks like it's completely redone considering there was a small ACE Chemicals building in Arkham City, but now it's a massive facility. The only way it's not a retcon of Gotham's design is if the other facility was just a separate, smaller location.

If Arkham City's layout is still canon, then it definitely wouldn't work with the Batmobile.

It's a separate part of the city, I'm pretty sure. Wayne Tower was visible in another part of Gotham in AA and AC and it's playable here (Bruce apparently changed into the Batsuit in his Wayne Tower office and jumped off the tower at the beginning of the E3 gameplay trailer). ACE Chemicals is likely just a separate facility. The only landmark I noticed that might hint it was the same area is the Ferris wheel, which is visible in AK gameplay and was obviously in AC; but there could be two of those in Gotham. Wait, was Wonder Tower in one of them?

I don't think they've shown anything about the Arkham City facility in AK yet. I'm still curious exactly how much of Gotham we're getting.

Didn't Arkham City take place in a much older, dilapidated(parts of it are sinking into the ocean), and abandoned part of Gotham?

The ACE building in City and the facility in Knight are probably completely separate locations, considering how functional the latter looks(it's got people still working at it, even).

I just finished playing some Arkham City (Finally found the time to take care of that Riddler stuff, goddamn) and the Ace Chemicals building in City is explicitly referred to in the in-game files as the administrative branch, so it makes sense that the greater Gotham area would have the actual chemical plant somewhere in Arkham Knight.

Since there's no general AK thread, there are scans of a strategy guide out in the wild. Confirms existence of "Most Wanted" side missions and the identity of at least one villain will appear in one of those (which corresponds with the achievement list reveal).

Man-Bat
, I'm guessing? Great news if true.

I'm pretty interested in this as well, to see if they will render the Arkham City map in this game. I just loaded it up on my PS3, and Wayne Tower is over the water pretty much right at the end of the unbroken bridge in the grey area on the left of this map (opposite Bowery/Museum). So I'm assuming Arkham City is 'behind' Wayne Tower in the Arkham Insider video.

I want to know if you can call the Batmobile to you while gliding, then land right inside it and start driving without slowing down.

I don't think so. You go pretty insane speeds while gliding now and having it track you correctly without fucking up doesn't seem like it's in the cards. They probably have it spawn off-screen and generate a path to you once you land.

Chapter 16 is indeed my favorite one so far. The artwork looks different (looks better) or is that just me?

Bane, Poison Ivy, and the Arkham Knight all in one chapter. Awesome. Moments with the Arkham Knight (though some have been very brief) are always my favorite.

Summary
- Poison Ivy saves Batman due to how valuable he is to enemies and friends such as Penguin and possibly Catwoman. The latter isn't involved, just mentioned

- Batman goes unconscious for a minute from Ivy's pheromone

- Bane and Poison Ivy have a showdown

- Ivy wants Arkham City as a place for her plants to grow

- The Arkham Knight steps in and drags Batman from the scene

- He leaves some kind of signal for Batman to follow via the sequencer

- The Arkham Knight has an interest in Poison Ivy as a potential ally

- The Arkham Knight leaves an explosive gel trap which sends Batman, Bane, and Poison Ivy underground.

Hush? That plot point still hasn't been resolved. Especially not in the Tie in comics

do you have a copy of the game or something

also can you say what the spoilers are so someone like me doesn't click on them and get blindsided by what it is

Chapter 16 of the Tie in comic. =\

Also wanna say:

At the end of Arkham City, when batman defeated Clayface leaving him in the Lazarus Pit, there was an explosion, leaving batman knocked out, in the time that it took Batman to wake up, Clayface could have easily formed into The Joker, while the real Joker escaped. There is actually a hint at this in the DLC Harley Quinn's Revenge where you walk up on some henchmen talking and one of them says."Oh, I just got a thought! What if it was Clayface Batman carried out of the theater that night?" I don't think Rocksteady would put that in the game for no reason.

I'm pretty certain Joker is gone.

However I see Batman's paranoia at Joker being alive playing into a side-quest, probably relayed to the Johnny Charisma: Live advertisements all around the city (
Jo(hnny) Charisma: Live sounding like 'Joker is alive'.

I dunno because

On the Persons of Interest page, in the background, there is a bunch of different words mixed and blacked out with Scarecrow. Some say, "Joker Is..." and cut off...

Still A theory, but I wouldn't put it past Rocksteady to do this.

Again, I think it will be some kind of side-quest.

Bringing Joker back wouldn't be worth the surprise element. Even if people didn't expect it I doubt anyone's reaction would be "Oh, what a surprise".

But, as with the Johnny Charisma: Live advertisements, I expect that Batman's paranoia about Joker still being alive will be addressed as part of a side-quest or even in the main story. Maybe fear toxin will play a part in it. But bringing him back wouldn't have the impact to make it worth it ("Oh, another Joker story, yay!").

He's gone, and I only see one way of Rocksteady topping that surprise (that would be killing Batman, probably at some point before the end of the game).

I really hope they don't recycle that map for a third game. I know every inch of it by this point.

Same here. It would clash with the design of the main city.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the area of AC in technically there but has been built over, so there'll be landmarks and thing's you'll recognise, but I guess as a playable area it'll be new.

I really like to see old areas either way. Dig the continuity and the nostalgia of going back with fancy new visuals.

It looks fantastic, but I don't really want to actually play it.

This was me awhile back. I thought I could get another Batman fix by simply playing City again. But then I realized that it looks so fantastic that I do indeed need to play it. It looks like more of what makes the series great, but on steroids and with a mean as hell looking Batmobile to boot.

Yo, these spoilers with no context or indication of what they're about are shitty. Take that shit out of here or fix them.

Batman dies, Joker is Arkham Knight and takes over the mantle.

Now are you surprised?
