Which episode was the fallout between Batman and Robin? ( Dick Grayson )

Was there ever one? I just remember an episode where they had flashbacks showing Robin being angry all the time.

I recently watched all the DCAU stuff. They hold up so well. Batman was such a great show and I really hope they release them on blu ray one of these days.

Watch the movies if you haven't. Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman movie I've ever seen IMO.

There was. I believe it was Old Wounds. Really good episode.

This show had the best score of any cartoon I ever watched. And the episode "Almost Got 'Em" is among the best TV Episodes I've ever seen.

Crap, crap

Can't believe I'm late to a Batman TAS love-fest

Where we at? Everyone agreed an amazing show? Posted best episodes?

Hmm what is left.. oh the movies!

Mask of the Phantasm>*
Even live action Nolan trilogy

I know, right? "I want to hate this, stop not being terrible!"

LOL

That's exactly what was going through my mind.

I'm gonna consider watching this.

I've seen a handful of DC animated stuff
.
Is there anything else I should watch before I get around to giving TAS a shot?

If you're going to watch EVERYTHING, I'd start with volumes 1-3 of Batman TAS, then Mask of the Phantasm, then volume 4 after the redesign, then Batman/Superman: World's Finest, then Superman, then BATMAN BEYOND, then Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker UNCUT then finally JL/JLU.

Added Batman Beyond and ROTJ: Uncut.
Make a list and keep it so you don't forget.
Also go to a wiki page or search online for the order you are supposed to watch the TAS episodes in.

Mask of the Phantasm, IMO is still the best Batman movie. It had everything. Literally everything. Action, Horror, Suspense, Adventure even Romance. And that soundtrack. Gave me shivers! After the end of The Dark Knight when Commission Gordon smashed the Bat Signal as if to say Batman was the enemy... I was hoping they would pull the scene from Phantasm. Instead we got got a weak car chase that lasted 30 seconds.

Sad when movies like this and other DCaU movies like Green Lantern FIrst Flight are better than their live action counterparts.

Seriously the DCAU Green Lantern movie showed you how to tell an origin story while giving you plenty of time to develop Sinestro from Green Lantern to Yellow and still have time for Hal to beat him at the end. How do you F that up?

LOL

That's exactly what was going through my mind.

make sure you add Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker too. it's a great movie. maybe not quite as good as Mask of the Phantasm, but it's got some awesome stuff in it.

Added.

Can't believe I forgot it.

Uncut or nothing. Seriously. If you cant find the Uncut version of Return of the Joker, then wait until you do.

I saw the censored version afterward just for laughs.

[shakes head]

I feel sorry for those who have only seen the censored version

Yeah, Return of the Joker provides a nice bridge between the original series and Beyond.

Beyond and Return of the Joker should be watched before JL, if only because it provides a little context for The Once and Future Thing and Epilogue.

I never liked the Superman series as much as Batman, but it's still my favorite rendition of the character, plus it's portrayal of Darkseid is amazing. I never gave him much heed, but he was so eloquent, unflappable, and smooth without resorting to theatrics... Possibly my favorite villain ever.

I know the Bronies are going to give me shit for saying this, but this show, along with Superman TAS and Batman Beyond, are far and away the best shows on The Hub right now.

Nothing wrong with saying that.

Although rewatching Batman Beyond, I couldn't shake the feeling that Terry was one dumb Batman. I think they even teased this in the Epilogue Justice League episode,
"You didn't get his magnificent brain,"

Anyone that watches this show for the first time, keep in mind that some episodes are from writers/directors that had a "different" view of what the show and childrens shows should be. So there are some episodes that are pure kid show trash.

well, when he was 17 it was kind of excusable, and I think it would have marginalized Bruce way too much if Terry was his intellectual equal. He's not dumb, he just isn't the dark detective.

Which is probably going to be the name of the next Batman cartoon, given the way they're going.

Rewatch the series. I mean it's the fault of the writers sometimes trying to extend drama, but he makes the same mistakes over and over, he doesn't remember half of the abilities he has when they seem like they would be go-to (his jet boots/wings are broken? Better almost die from the fall, not like you have grapple hooks or anything right on your arms. This was a Season 3 episode, I think.). They did actually show him getting better as a detective, but he did a lot of silly things otherwise, even for an action cartoon.

And there's things that aren't explained, like why the video link isn't on all the time. They could've explained that in-universe (didn't want to make the broadcast completely obvious, worried about some villain with some weird power of teleporting through video, who can say), but the number of times Bruce was yelling "Terry, what's going on!?" to an audio feed seemed silly.

I still liked the series, though. One particular striking moment during the final fight of "April Moon".

I have been rewatching it ;) I've just started Series 3. Usually they explain why the video link goes down, at least so far, anyways. Poor guy is constantly sleep deprived. Bruce is literally hindering his education at school. Reasons man! There are reasons!

Well, Batman: TAS is one of the best tv shows ever made, so that's not much of a stretch. It would be the best show on a lot of networks.

Still out of order like the DVDs, and more expensive than just getting the DVDs :/

It looks like Batman Beyond is available on Netflix streaming...how does it compare to TAS?

I loved Beyond. It was great seeing Bruce's interactions with Terry, and him passing on the mantle. There are a few bad episodes but most of it is grade A stuff IMO.

The show also gave new life to Harley Quinn who became a fan favorite, her appearance in the Batman Arkham games is almost straight out of TAS

Mr. Freeze was long considered too goofy and lame of a villain, until they tackled him in a much more serious manner

They won a Emmy for this episode

Twas a sad episode :'(

Batman Beyond is great.

Yeah, the redesigns ranged mostly from neutral to slightly worse than before. I don't think anyone really came out ahead, with the possible exception of maybe the Scarecrow being fucking terrifying looking.

But the redesigned season gave us Over the Edge, which is my most favorite episode of anything EVER.

I actualy like the redesigns a lot, SPECIALY the bat family !

It might have to do with my favorite episodes (over the edge is a top one) having the redesign.

Dat sleek design, the non vibrant yellow colors, the simplicity of the form and the smaller pallete bordering a pixel art.

97-98 is BEAUTIFUL

Definitely one of my favourite cartoons growing up.
Xmen/spiderman/batman the animated series were all fantastic.

How did they make the cartoons worse over time i have no idea.

I didn't see BTAS until reruns, but it's so good. I really fell in love with Harley. All the villains were really done well.

There's a lot of DC animation that I need to see. They do a great job. Better than the comics.

Man, why did the DCAU never get the DC classics treatment? What I wouldn't give for six inch scale super articulated BTAS figures...

why did batman series get so so so much worse after BBeyond?

Batman had a lot of type of comics since it's creation, ranging from noir detective stories to full on golden age campness.

Since we are speaking of TAS, the "Legends of the Dark Knight" episode explains this very well.

So, each new series took diferent batman references and turned that into something the focus audience wanted.

I personaly love "The Batman" (if only for the awesome animation and bold character designs) and Brave and the Bold (omfg musicals !), but you can totaly see why they are not the same gothic dark and gritty batman as this one

No they weren't. X-Men had good themes, but it was horribly cheesy and incredibly ugly. And Spider-Man.... ugh. It was cool when you were a kid. Its idea of humor and "character" is embarrassing as an adult.

Spectacular Spider-Man is far and away the best version of Spider-man on any screen. Wolverine and the X-Men was pretty alright.

I do love The Batman, especially for the character designs. They turned me onto the show, and I love that Batgirl got in there first. The later seasons, I would say, had some of the better episodes of the show. And both theme songs were awesome.

Yes. Too bad it never properly concluded. *tears*

I bought the Animated Series Box Set off Ebay a few years ago. It was a bootleg with poor IQ:

I don't understand how for all their hard work into replicating the exact look of the actual box they didn't get the spelling right on one of the five words on the cover. Be weary of purchasing off Ebay!

Poor Spectacular...

Also, Jose Lopez's designs for The Batman were absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, they were more kid's shows, but they definitely haven't aged well. BTAS showed that they could appeal to both kid and adult, plus the quality was so good that most episodes have aged extremely well.

The one problem I have with TAS and Batman in general is none of the villains can ever achieve rehabilitation. And they tease this so much in Batman media its kinda getting not just boring but frustrating.
