ehhhhh

i havent seen man of steel so i dont understand the context under which superman turns evil here.

i'm going to go with a cautious "it looks interesting"

Same reason that loads of people here hate that MoS had a fight scene in a city and you know what happened. They're probably pissed at supes when he was trying to stop someone.

Motherfucker, getting up and seeing it leaked freaked me out but then i saw the first few frames and realized it´s a cam-rip so can´t watch. Nothing short of 1080p will do justice. Waiting for monday......

Looks good enough. Im pretty much going to refuse to write this off. Ill give it a chance no matter how much Man of Steel sucked.

Just.... please be fucking good.

Question:

In the new DCU, is Batman already there or will he get introduced like in Batman Begins ?

It's been indicated that Batman has been around for years in this universe. There were even leaked claims of Robin's memorial display case being part of the batcave set.

Well they shot the scene
where his parents get killed
, so I guess we'll get some kind of backstory/introduction.

Is that even a spoiler lol.

i'd like to see a batman where his parents dont die and bruce dies instead.

im even more confused now

He's been there and he's hung up the cowl years ago.

He's been active for years in this universe, but has been labeled as an urban myth.

Thank you, I really like this approach.

Would be pretty damn sweet if it's a mirror of the scene from Dark Knight Returns. I love that scene. The music, the tone, the bat at the end. It's just a perfect scene.

I'm not sure about this one. Could be amazing, Could be absolute crap. Very hard to tell from that trailer.

Tonally and aesthetically it seems like it's on the right track. Still not used to the puny Batman ears though.

Read the
Flashpoint
comic or watch the
Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
animated movie.

im even more confused now

Lots of fans got (or at least pretended to be) incredibly angry over the amount of property damage caused during the final fight in Man of Steel. This film's story is building on that sentiment.

Man of Steel was overhyped. Still enjoyed it.

This looks like the same deal. Over the top art-direction by Snyder ... and a truckload of CGI.

O well.

I'm guessing Batman will alter the atmosphere around the location of their fight to try to get an upperhand. That seems to be the new kryptonite. That, or Lex Luthor actually gets his hands on some, Batman steals it, and uses it.

Read and watch Flashpoint.

Flashpoint Paradox

Interesting. I might check the animated version out, seems strange enough from what I usually am exposed to with justice league stuff.

Ah ok, now I get it I guess. That's an interesting way to move the story forward, sort of breaks the fourth wall there in a way.

Even though the odds are against us, we must see it. Superman vs. Batman movie has always been like a fever dream. I don't hold good odds based on the last movie and actors and writers involved, but you can't look away. Teaser wasn't very impressive. Basically panning toward a statue for the majority of the time.

I took it the other way, the movie is presenting batman as the 'villain'.
Nah, Supes is going around being Mr God, but he fucking sucks at it and it's psychologically fucking up humanity and Supes can't keep up. Batman is going around looking at the rubble left over from all the shit Supes stirred up just by existing, and now he wants to go have a talk with Supes about taking responsibility for his role in the world and the way the darkness in mankind responds to someone like him. Neither one will be "the bad guy" but the trailer obviously wants to play up the Vs angle. I bet there are going to be some heavy handed undertones criticizing America's world-policing and drone strikes.

Honestly it looks pretty limp. I don't mind a serious tone but this just seems po-faced.

I don't think a crossover superhero movie can work with such a grimdark vibe.

My man.

I know people are excited but I don't understand this need to be first. I suppose that's just the Internet as a whole.

I'm really looking forward to the film and I'm quite happy to wait until Monday.

It is interesting to read some of the comments in here though.

Wow, so they learned NOTHING from MoS, didn't they?

I'll still see it, but I won't be paying to.

Could you elaborate on this please?

How exactly are you going to see this for 'free'?

Well shit, they actually use voice modulation on Batman. Finally a movie does it.

And goddamn he looks beasty.

I don't think this teaser gave us enough to be trying to figure out what role Superman and Batman play as far as whose the antagonist in their showdown. What it gave us was the question the movie seeks to answer - "What role does Superman play in this world?" - and the promise that the two will fight at some point. That's it.

I like that we get a feel for how divided the public is we all the voiceovers. I also don't agree with people saying that Superman is trying to act like a god but rather I think the film will show him having that label thrust upon him and Supes being kind of unsettled by it. Look at the scene where people are reaching out to him and how "off" it feels. Same with the scene of soldiers bowing in his presence. If we know anything about Clark in this universe, it's that he doesn't view himself as a god. He's just a "guy from Kansas." All this attention and deifying is probably weird to him.

Download a cam or sneak into the theater after seeing another movie (obv. when they stop having ticket dudes in front of it during 1st week).

So DC's solution is to go darker than Nolan? Like Watchmen dark?

Yeah I don't know if this is going to work out for them.

I watched it but don't understand what was happening. Who was it that they were bowing to? And why does it make Supernan seem like the villain?

I'm so confused.

I wanted something epic like the Superman Returns trailer.

Singer, save us

There's no way in hell this is going to be anywhere near as dark as Watchmen. Come on now.

So people in this movie will legit think that Superman is Jesus?

That's what I took from the trailer. The way they kneel, the reaching out, the scene where he's surrounded by hundreds of people.

Seems they consider him a god.

Will be fascinating to see how that plays out. I don't believe we've ever seen that idea explored in any real depth outside of the comics and it makes sense that groups of people would see someone like Superman as a godlike figure if he were to exist...
