Battleborn 9.7gb update on Steam

No news on Steam about it, but first time I've got any sort of update download (and certainly a long time of one this size) in a long time.

I haven't touched this game since literally 1 year ago (6/17 to be exact). Yes, I've had it sitting in my library for over a year without playing it (was like 30+gb to d/l initially).

What's up?

Maybe this?: Hats, gamble crates, and various other things that seem like scraps to any other game.

Preparing to go free to play most likely this screams as being some kind of overhaul patch.
Realistically though is the game going to be able to keep going in a F2P atmosphere/revival almost the same as Evolve did before dying off again.

Here are Evolve 2.0's numbers:

I don't expect much different for Battleborn 2.0 regardless of how many updates they push. The well is poisoned. Move on.

I feel like it's little too late. If f2p rumor turns out to be true.

But i really hope that there will be a lot more ppl playing the game if it goes f2p because it doesn't look bad at all.

Still remember how Battleborn and Overwatch were like rivals before they released.

Oh how the times have changed, now my most recent memory of Battleborn is the creator sharing/creating a Battleporn subreddit.

Purely predatory tactic by OW that the community of Blizz ate up and fueled.

Games play way differently. OW is more TF2 and Battleborn is closer to a Super Monday Night Combat-like.

Isn't this because awhile back, Randy said BB would get a trial version that one can play for free and then to continue beyond that trial, the player has the option of purchasing the full game afterwards? Hence this FGU would make sense in this scenario.

Here's the story on it.

There is a thread here with the speculation. I should of just posted it to begin with.

I mean from what ive heard battleborn is a good game, unlike evolve, so maybe free to play will help the game.

Ill definately give it a shot if it goes free

Will be, ironically , a bit of a break from overwatch

Battleborn is fun but the player base is fubar, I still like it and play sometimes but I never cared much for the MOBA aspect but the PVE was good, the OPs were great to run with buddies.

If anything, I came away from all of that with a lower opinion of Blizzard. The only similarity is that they have a cast of characters.

You kill this and focus everything on Borderlands 3, but Randy's ego won't let that happen.
All hes gonna do is poison B3 with this Turkey's bad vibes.

Any unused Hero Keys will automatically unlock a locked DLC character or, if all DLC characters are unlocked, be exchanged for 47,500 Credits per unused Hero Key.

Yep, sounds like a F2P patch is nigh!

Almost every reply to the tweet from people who follow gearbox is shitting on the game. They need to make BL3 epic to satisfy their hungry fanbase.

When I searched for this tweet and found it, for a second I thought "Wow I haven't seen that DVA skin before, also why is there ice in that room in Volskay... oh"

PC user base is very low. Consoles is just fine. I own it on PS4 and Xbone and never have problems finding matches.

The game is really good. But if it goes F2P they need to somehow separate the new players from the veterans. The learning curve is real and it will be a slaughter.

There's all sorts of awesome changes in this update. Gearbox is having a Twitch steam tomorrow to discuss the update, there's stuff in the update that they left out of the patch notes.

TF2 had that same problem when it went F2P. Someone created a filter for the server browser to weed out F2P players, there was an outcry, Valve blocked the filter. The problem is it creates an elitist attitude, but I totally agree that F2P players who don't care about getting banned from the game or don't give a shit about playing for real can ruin a game.

10 gigs for hats is pretty excessive. If anything, that is more hint of getting into a F2P system. Surprised they couldn't wait to do it all at once.
