Battlefield 1 PC Performance Thread

Anyone running this on an i5 2500K?

I'm picking up a PC for free tomorrow that has that processor paired with 16GB of ram.

I'm planning on putting a GTX 970 in it as it seems I can pick one up for a little over £150.

Just wondering what the performance is like on such an old CPU.

FPS hovers around 90FPS when 1080p and maxed out settings. Like I mentioned game uses ~5-6GB of RAM in 64p CQ. Bigger issue is CPU utilization that hovers between 90% and 100% at any given time or moment in the game.

Here's my rig. Haven't bought the game yet. Waiting till Friday since I've been busy with PSVR.

980 Ti @ Stock

Someone mentioned in the other thread I can reach 1440p Ultra @ 60 fps. Yours is only at 1080p though. Wonder why though..

Aim for above. Game feels sluggish and stuttery at locked 60, but go above that by e.g. 20 and game smooths out.

Because I have 1080p monitor, but mostly because I want maintain FPS way above 60 for reason mentioned above this line. Beta I could run easily with 150% resolution scale, all on Ultra and maintain 60+ FPS in 64p CQ. Didn't try it with full version because for some reason is game is a lot more power hungry.

Just screwed around with the trial. Game feels perfectly smooth at locked 60 with Vsync off and full screen on. For whatever reason I'm not getting any tearing, I wonder if the game is forcing triple-buffering or something.

I ran out of trial before I was able to test if borderless window works better for me. Game with 60FPS lock was terrible to play for me.

Kinda boggles my mind how 60FPS locked is shitshow, but letting FPS free ball it and hover around 90FPS makes game smooth. If and when I end up getting BF1 I need run some tests with different setting variations. Being able to 60FPS lock would free up some CPU, making it run around 80% instead of 95% average.

Uhh quite a few game could use all the HT threads just fine. AC: Unity, a two year old game now, can use all 16 threads of an 8-core CPU to max if you play it at, say, 800x600 with a Titan XP SLI setup or something.

Sometimes I hate the limiting nature of text. I would insert every contingent clarification in every one of my posts to prevent this sort of reply, but then said posts would be the length of a book.

I was only referring to the fact that I have seen very few games (if any) max all Hyper-Threaded cores to 100% or near 100% at a constant rate at 1440p in GPU-limited situations. Of course you can max them out easily with HT-friendly games in low-resolution, CPU-limited scenarios. So, while, yes, we are in agreement there, it wasn't in the context of what I was originally saying.
 
Anyone running this on an i5 2500 cpu? A friend was looking at getting a 1060 to play this but wasnt sure if it would run fine. He ran the beta and said it seemed fine. I realize the cpu is below spec.

Found this on another forum about the beta:

Should at least be able to do high settings 60fps 1080p with a 1060 6GB, maybe just under with the 3GB.
 
I'm really not having many issues currently. I get a bit of a loading stutter at the start and during transitions of operation but that's it. I have a i7/1060.
 
Sorry in advance for this dumb question but are there ANY graphical differendes between using DX 11 or 12 in Battlefield 1? More effects, better effects etc.. ?

Disabled Shadowplay and Xbox Game DVR and in game I put it into Borderless windowed.

Now the game is between 70-80% using. Much better.

I am running an i5 2500k @4.5 Ghz with GTX1080 at 1440p and getting average 80-90ish fps with some rare drop to 60ish on multiplayer and 16GB of RAM and GSync
 
Hmmmm... Generally the game runs great for me but on certain maps like Amiens or Monte Grappa everything starts kind of stuttering and hitching, even though the FPS counter is saying its generally staying above 50 FPS.

Here is my rig:
1070 FTW
16GB RAM
i5-4670k
installed on my Samsung 840 EVO SSD

And I'm playing at 1440p on my Gsync Acer XB270HU.

Just not sure if its some setting I should be turning down that's too demanding- I think everything is set to Ultra, which is what the game defaulted to. And generally the game runs fine, just on certain maps it seems like everything gets real choppy.

I'm running this exact setup on a mix of high/ultra with no real issues (1080 res), though I am overclocked to roughly 4.2 .

Borderless is very inconsistent to me in a lot of cases. I put CSGO in borderless for the longest time and maintained over 144fps, but since I got a new graphics card borderless destroys my framerate in that game now.

Bizarre.
 
Switched from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 – made a BIG difference in my performance, much smoother.

i7 2600
R9 290 4GB
16GB DDR3

Getting locked 60fps at 1080p with High settings – almost locked at Ultra with a few dips into the 50's when it all kicks off!

Shadowplay seems to play a huge role in dipping performances for some. There's a few other fixes here:

There were drivers released on the 13th but hopefully nVidia put some new ones out.

Shadowplay on or off does no difference for me and borderless windowed is a lot more stuttery for some reason.

I guess there's nothing I can do but to upgrade my CPU some day if I want to be able to push 100+fps on all maps.

Fao Fortress 64player conquest runs amazing. Usually stays at 74 fps, occasionally under 70, rarely if ever under 60.

San quentin's scar runs right around 60fps most of the time and the rest of the time in the 50's.

I'm optimistic day 1 drivers and patches will bring performance up a notch.
 
  • Fullscreen makes game stutter free
  • Borderless window makes game stuttery
  • 60FPS lock in RTSS and Vsync off causes constant and noticeable tearing
  • No FPS lock in RTSS and Vsync on removes all tearing
Fullscreen + Vsync on is best combo for me, smooth and tearing free
 
what should I expect if one of my PC's has a Core i7 2600k @ 4.2 ghz, 16 gigs of ram and a 980 Ti? Is the CPU gonna kill my performance too much?

I think might have figured out my performance issue, sadly, the trial ended before I figured it out. For some reason when I installed my new CPU fan I reinstalled my 2x4GB ram in as single channel :|

Promptly opened my case and plopped them in the correct dual channel slots. Will test the performance tonight once the game unlocks.

Well after further testing and playing. The performance was hitting around 90% so not 100% as before but still not great.

I'm looking at investing in a new CPU at some point so I'll live with it for now :P
 
I just installed another 980 Ti in my system so hopefully the SLI support is improved beyond what I've been seeing people say so far. Shadow Warrior 2's SLI is fantastic. I seem to get better performance than a Titan XP.

1440p with 100% scaling and all settings on Ultra

The majority of the time my framerate sits around 80fps, with the lowest I've noticed being in the high 60's, and highest being ~100fps. This is on the 64 player Conquest servers. It's smooth as butter too, no hitching or stuttering at all. I've only had one crash in 7 hours or so, and it was when I was in a tank switching my seating-position around 5-6 times in quick succession.

I tried SLI a few days ago but it wasn't working at all with the drivers I'm on. From what I've read, using the Battlefront or Battlefield 4 SLI profile in Nvidia Inspector might fix SLI performance so I'll give that a go later today.
