Battlefield 1 PC Performance Thread

16GB RAM
6700K @ 4.5GHz
2x GTX 980 Ti in SLI mode

Getting around 100 FPS on Ultra at 2560x1440 resolution.
SLI utilisation isn't great. It's generally around the 75% area on both cards.

This is why I gravitate towards playing board games in my spare time:

Launch the game, circle spins a bit. Crashes to desktop with no error message. £35 for a game which doesn't fucking work. Fuck off EA.

Hey guys I've been crashing just about every game. Its not the direct X crash it just says the program must close. Any ideas what it could be?

Geforce GTX 1080

Anyone else just getting like random freezing, itl be a few seconds long, just long enough for me to get killed.

i5 2500k @ 4.3ghz
16 gigs ram
970

i have it set to the high preset, I dont think it could be the graphics settings, could it? No issues in any other game.

I imagine it's your CPU capping out hard which causes freezes. Try looking at CPU utilization percentages while playing to verify.

BF1 puts oven OC'd i5 6600K through it paces and almost caps it out.

its weird tho, since that post I played 2 other maps, the desert one, and some english countryside one with a windmill/hill in the middle (sorry didn't remember names) and it only happend like 1 more time in an hour, but the first map I played on was in the middle of a bombed out city and was like every 5 minutes. Maybe its more map dependent.

Im just not willing to drop 600+ on new cpu/ram/mobo for bf1. An i7 6700k, and 32 gigs of ddr4 is tempting tho.... lol.

I have an identical setup and I don't get freezing on ultra preset.

Any explanation for this weird texture artifact business on distant textures? They end up being washed out or otherwise weird looking, and I have everything turned up to ultra settings on a 1080. :\

Performance is otherwise stellar, and so silky with G-Sync.

My performance is so shitty.

ultra = about 45 fps with some dips.

2600k @ 4.4ghz
8gb ram
1070

I thought I'd definitely have better performance then this on ultra.

The game auto detects at bloody medium on my pc, this can't be right can it?

I am getting terrible performance with my setup, which ran the beta flawlessly.

Using 373.06 driver with EVGA GTX 970 SSC and i5-4460 quad core processor, I'm getting drops well below 60 at 1080p on HIGH. GamersNexus showed the 970 getting 64 fps at 1440p on Ultra so I'm pretty frustrated right now.

Kind of looks like those pictures of entire fields being covered in spider webs lol. Weird.

This game is great. I love the map variety. I absolutely love the single shot medic class. I know this game has good buzz and my initial impression is that it's deserved. Plays great on my pc.

That seems low, but then you only have 8GB of ram too. What resolution? What resolution scale percentage?

Yeah, it's bugging me a bit. :\

Looks like CPU is more important in this game than GPU. Guess I lucked out with my upgrade from 2500k - 6600k two months ago, though I'm starting to think I should have paid the extra $140 for the 6700k.

1080p?

I'm getting much better performance on a much lower rig. See my post above.

Starting to think this game needs more than 8gb of RAM.

Played a few rounds of multiplayer conquest 64, overall about an hour. DX12 definitely has some janky ass hitching. DX11 was way smoother, immediately noticable. Was getting around 75fps average across three different maps regardless of DX version. Amazing visuals. Can't wait to play more tomorrow.

Ultra Settings
1440p
Xeon 5650 @ 4Ghz
12GB Ram
Fury X - 16.10.2

Jumped into one more map to see how much of my system was being utilized. Was the Monte Grappa map. FPS rose to over 85. Ram topped out at 7gb, CPU at around 60% but all 12 threads active, no threads near 100%. GPU was at 100%.

Damn. Seems poorly optimized if those with some of the better i5's AND i7's are being tapped out. Also, crashing and freezes along with that? People were telling me this game was super well optimized on PC's that are two to three years old now when everyone was playing the beta. What happened?

I'm getting really weird SERIOUS hitches in my game. It'll stop for a good 3-5 seconds like it hard locks. I noticed the frame rate drops to the 40's when a lot of shit is going on too. I'm running it at 1080p.

What setting could I drop down to best help performance? It defaults to high right now. I feel like I shouldn't be getting any issues with my rig. Battlefront was flawless on ultra.

Hopefully we can get a game update and a nvidia driver out today to iron out this CPU/performance issues, other than that this launch has been flawless.

If anyone has an RX470 and is curious, I'm getting a solid 60fps all ultra 1080p in DX11. DX12 is fine too, except for some odd frame timing stuff. Really pleased with the performance considering this is a budget video card.

i7 920 @ 4,2GHz
GTX 970
12GB RAM

Getting solid 60 with dips when it's getting really hectic to around 40. More than playable for me.
Game set everything to high.

My system must be very optimized or something.

1440p on Ultra
4690k @ 4.3
GTX 970 OC very slightly

Getting avg of 55-60 fps very rare dips to 50 when a lot of stuff is happening on screen.

Very playable for me.

1440p Ultra settings
i7 5820k 3.6Ghz
R9 Nano
16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM

Runs between 60-80 for me with the occasional dip below 60 but freesync takes care of that.

DX12 causes all kinds of weird hitching or something DX11 definitely runs better.

Just adjusting the settings and wondering what everybody else has the three field of view options set to?

Interested to see where I should put mine.

EDIT: Also interested to know what others do with the GPU memory restriction option? I have a gtx 1080.

Runs surprisingly well on my rig judging from the 10 hour trial I tried out.

GTX 980

55-60fps, low dips into 50 sometimes.

1440p
i7 4770k
GTX 1080
Ultra 125% scaling

Locked 60fps and stuttering from the beta is gone. My cpu is running at 70c though.

Just downloaded the Nvidia patch , Probably start playing this evening ,(Some work to do).
So how much 760 ti underpowered to run this on 1080P 60 FPS High .

I tested a quickmatch in multiplayer and it doesn't feel like 60 Fps at all, may be 35-40.

1080p @ ultra, dx11, taa, gpu optimization off, motion blur off

Getting a solid 60 and stable frame times with minor drops when things get real busy. The 64 player populated maps perform similarly. Didn't notice any lengthy/super harsh drops. VRAM usage hasn't gone higher than 3100 so far.
Strangely though, the game doesn't seem to want to utilize full core clock speeds. It usually sits at around 1000 Mhz instead of 1300+, whereas memory clock speed is maxed as usual. Same thing if I revert to standard clocks. Anyone else seeing this?

FoV 90-95 horizontal is sweetspot for many. I have it at 95 currently.

Disable that memory restriction thing.

thats what happens to me, its like you hit pause.... wait 5 seconds, usually die or something, its random too, in the middle of nowhere, or in huge firefights, no rhyme or reason.

Between that and the hard frame rate drops in chaotic situations that make the game feels really jumpy and weird it makes me think I should wait until they patch it or Nvidia fix their drivers. I shouldn't be getting these issues on my PC. Battlefront never dropped below about 80 ever.

What is a good FOV with a 21:9 display in this game? It starts out at 55 vertical, but I assume that is for 16:9.

GTX 970
FX6300
8GB RAM (forgot the speed)

Runs perfectly on Ultra, only very occasional stutter.

I have to close Chrome before playing though, seems this really does use up 8GB of RAM pretty fast.

Just ran a full 32v32 match in the Forest. BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE.

Buttery smooth w/ my humble, 4-year old i7 3770 (non-K) / 980 Ti / 16GB RAM / G-Sync.

Ultra, 1080p, using RTSS to cap at 100fps and it was hovering around ~100fps for the entire match. Not a single stutter in sight and I'm hyper sensitive to stutter. My CPU temps weren't even that outrageous (air cooled in an old $40 HAF 912 case). Max temps reached:

LET'S GOOOOOOOO

edit: getting dips to 85fps or so on the bigger maps.

Ultra with resolution scale at 150%, get locked 60fps

i5-2500k @4.2Ghz
1070
16GB RAM
SSD

This game looks phenomenal, and runs incredible well, I haven't played a Conquest match yet which will be the true test, but campaign and TDM was aces.

My 960 4gb seems to be all over the place. Some matches I can run buttery smooth at high settings, and others become a shit show of performance. Pretty sure something weird is up. At one point I started hitching like crazy and was noticing in task manager I was only utilizing 47% of my CPU.

My two sticks of RAM installed as single channel was the culprit for my FPS drops. I reinstalled them as dual channel and now it's locked at 60FPS 1080p ultra : )

i5 3570k @ 4.2ghz
16GB DDR3 1600 RAM
980ti OC'd
1440p

Getting generally between 60 and 90 fps, but it drops and sits around 50-55fps in certain areas of some maps. G-Sync smooths that out nicely, at least. Did have a weird drop to 25fps for a couple of seconds at one point, though.

Although, I'm getting 100% usage on all my CPU cores and GPU. Nothing has pushed my PC like that before, god.

Anyone running the game on a FX-8320 3.5ghz with a GTX 960 2GB and 8GB Ram?

Will be installing the game tonight and curious about what I could expect. Things were pretty good in the beta save the weapons no appearing in Rush but it was the beta.
