Wallhacks are a perk now... Yikes. This keeps getting worse. I'm a BF player since 2 and this edition has disappointed me so much. Too many problems with game design. The beta was terrible. I hated it so much I cancelled my pre-order.
Not to play devil's advocate here but basically every (hero) shooter these days has it. On the one hand I despise it but on the other it means that hackers really have no excuse any more as the games are basically handing out legit cheats lol.

Also, LOL at that pronouns thing. Sure am glad that my fellow soldier on the battlefields of the future is using "they/them'" pronouns because that really matters a lot when bullets are whizzing past my face! "But it's a gaem!!!1" I know I know but lord this pandering is just too obvious these days. I'm sure all 12 of those pronoun people who wouldn't have bought your game will now jump on the Battlefield bandwagon because "muh representation".

I’ll give it a chance, but all I really want was s Battlefiend 3 or 4 with more destruction.

This feels like it’s following too many trends…wacky gadgets, operators/heroes, etc.
BF5 was a letdown for a variety of reasons.

they keep trying to make Battlefiend “better” by chasing trends and making it more like other games. Instead, all they wind up doing us screwing the game up.
I’ll give this a try and i have hope…but I’m not too confident yet. Anyone play the beta and want to put me at ease?

Bf bad company 2, bf 3 and bf4 were current timelines.....its just their gameplay promoted ACTUAL team play and was layed out like a game of chess and not checkers

Yea I'm sorry but none of that is true man. The lying and forcing a narrative needs to stop. Lets factually build a base to talk about this instead of lying and making shit up.

Bad Company 2 is set in the near future, not current. BF3 is set in 2014...not current, BF4 is set in 2020....not current. Where the fuck did you get any of this info exactly before posting this? I see nothing in BF2042 that argues to NOT do team play any more then any other BF, someone can choose to ignore reviving you and just kill in any BF bud, if they don't want to, I don't see how anyone can make them play that way. BF already has an incentive to have people give ammo, health, revive etc by making those things more points then simply JUST killing, but its upon the player to want to do that in the first place.

I play the same way in most BF titles the first time I play, I go medic and go ham on health and revive until I get the hang of the game, I see nothing here that suggest I can't do that to cry over this shit. We've heard the same BS like ever Battlefield btw, if someone wants to ignore the objective and just kill, they are free to just do that bud, that has never been a thing that is not allowed as if this is some war sim, BF has NEVER been that even remotely.

Starbuck2907 Starbuck2907 LOL what? Read your post slowly. Imagine DICE is reading it.

"all I really want was s Battlefiend 3 or 4"

DICE : OK lets look at what we did with that, lots of customization, Gadgets like ballistic shield, MAV, E0D bot, future etc

Also you "This feels like it’s following too many trends…wacky gadgets"

Real question...did you actually play BF3 and BF4 recently? Look back at those games please as I still play them and I believe many are exaggerating a lot of shit to the point of forgetting BF4 has a fucking shield and many um "wacky gadgets"

Even saying shit like "they keep trying to make Battlefiend “better” by chasing trends" yet bringing up BF3 and BF4 is just hilarious in its irony, those games were also attacked for um chasing "trends" by having team death match or having modes and features that are in popular FPS titles, but that is what BF has done since the very start, they have NEVER simply just been about 1 or 2 modes or anything like that, when a mode is popular its not unusual to see Battlefield or even Call Of Duty put in their own version of such modes, even the fucking game BF3 and BF4 DID the thing you are talking about, yet those are the games you are now asking this game to be like, without doing the same things....

Maybe you folks need to look back at BF3 and BF4, the post even suggesting some of this are the funniest as it seems many forget those games got the very same criticisms yet did just fine.

J jezhumphrey75 "why gadgets i hate gadgets, i just want to kill people player v player, not lose because i got wallhacked or a tracking grenade follows me to my helicopter etc etc, screw this game, i want to win gunfights, nothing else."

Easy, don't play this series. Gadgets have been part of the BF series since the start.

Want to just kill people, plenty of games exist for just that, this isn't it if you don't want something to track a helicopter and destroy it or something. It simply sounds like you have never played BF then, simply don't play BF lol

Many comments I even read seem like either they've never played BF before or forgot that those concepts have existed in the IP for a long, long time and its not a new thing that is being talked about here.

Were pronouns in the beta? I didn't even realise that was in it.

They should've expanded on BF V's character customization options instead of giving us these awful specialists that seem designed as if they had a list of "who are the loudest people on Twitter?" boxes to check off.

They will likely just go back to that as all they need to do is add that in, but it already exist in some form in the game as Portal has some of that, to fully add it back I feel will probably take some time like 6 months to a year, but I think it was fine in BFV tbh.

To my understanding, you can customize the specialist, so adding back randoms won't be that hard. Either way, none of this is a deal breaker for me.

I’m guessing it was too late in the game for a major shift like that.

Agreed, but I don't really think most gamers even understand game development.

I think the update will just make specialist optional and bring back the random characters to customize. I never cared for any of the dumbass clickbait shit like "DICE DOUBLES DOWN ON SPECIALISTS" as all it does is ignores that they are already fucking made and simply being introduced. They act as if the fucking game is being made entirely in the next 4 weeks and the beta was to ask how the whole game 100% was going to be made or something.

Even if DICE is to listen to any of this feedback, its something they can't do right now.

1. They need REAL fucking feed back by consumers vs triggered neckbeards that will overreact from any fucking change, some of the people even on this thread have made so odd statements that have exposed they don't even know many of the elements they are talking about EXIST in BF already, imagine someone telling you about Mario Kart having banana peels and they are like "WOW, this isn't even Mario Kart any more, WTF BROZ, its like cheating at this point", does that sound like a person that has been playing Mario Kart since the beginning or someone who has never actually played the series? Let them wait with real feedback when the game comes out and measure it out.

2. If enough give real educated feedback about it backed by them actually knowing the series, I believe it should be changed, but it will take time to see how that change can be done and likely will just make it optional like how it is in BFV. Which means showing us this still matters as the issue is with specialist replacing the old class set up, they can still exist with a return to the old class set up, thus still making the reveals relevant.

Idk. Wasn't there a rumor the beta build was from September 19? They also sent out surveys asking if people preferred specialists or classes after the beta. Couldn't be for nothing.

I don't disagree with you on this, simply that what Hendrick is stating is that its too late for something major like that as in expecting it soon, day 1, first month etc. Sure it couldn't be for nothing as I believe they are seeing how people react to it to make a change, but I don't think that change will be soonish, more like a few months.

Maybe its sooner then later though cause classes clearly still exist as Portal has them and a "class" using BF terms is simply a random character that has a locked ability, that is already what Specialist are without the customization and locking ability, like its doable, but I don't know if its day 1 or month 1 doable lol Simply logistical shit that needs to be done, but EA/DICE does great post launch support so I expect it to be optional after launch.

For all those who are crying over it though, they do betas for a reason and we've been here before. The classic "OMG did you play the beta ITS OVER" and then a update happens before launch, at launch, after launch etc and they disappear as the narrative doesn't stick anymore lol I still see people that make comments about what happened in a game DURING THE BETA years after launch and the game has had it removed, corrected etc. Some can't be pleased and if they never wanted to listen they'd never have a beta, put out a survey or even having a history of updates to correct what the community asked for.

Didn't even know Portal had classes in it. It may actually be the saving grace of the game after all.

Yea of course they could update it. I enjoyed the beta for what it was but not to where I feel like I need to be there day one. Definitely hope specialists are removed.

The latest gameplay showing was good. Seems like they're trying to get people back on track after the Specialist and Pronoun conversations.

Is it really that hard to just make an identical BF4 clone? I feel DICE is trying too hard while being oblivious to the fact that they made two of the greatest BF games based on modern era that is BF3 and BF4. All this specialist stuff and spending too much time on things on stuff(lesser said the better) feels asinine when the core game already feels disjointed based on what we've seen from beta.
