Battlefield 3: Fault Line Episode 3

It looks and sounds amazing, but it is almost the same as the last ones. The split in short episodes hurts, but it sure keeps the talk up.
Luckily - maybe unfortunately for me - I haven't played a Battlefield game before so this is one of my top 3 most anticipated titles of the year.

Just wait until the first multiplayer trailer hits.

The internet will explode in rage about all the features missing and poor interpretations on stuff.

Horrible video quality.

Not quite as mind blowing as the first video, but still looks like a decent replacement for COD.

Single player fans can stick with COD since they seem to think that is the benchmark for a single player FPS these days. (rolleyes)

The only thing that matters with Battlefield is multiplayer. The ONLY thing.

And yet you say this in the thread about the third trailer in a row for BC3 that is completely focused on SP.

I love Battlefield for the mutliplayer, but I am enjoying good singleplayer games as well - so I think that the SP matters too. Not only for the players, but also for DICE, who wants to sell the game to as many people as possible.

It looks like Mirror's Edge at times and that makes me concerned that the ME team might have been permanently rolled into the BF3 team. :(

Not a big SP fan these days. DICE has never made anything beyond an above average SP, so it looks in line with their other games.

They've already stated that the first person design had a lot of ME influence...I don't know if the same guys are working on it, though.

Mirror's Edge was fantastic in my book. Dice definitely has the talent to do original work.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. A lot better than the second video for sure. It looked like there was some serious recoil on that LMG, which is a good thing. I hope we get to see more of the destruction soon.

Don't tell me that's the scene those journos thought shows a full melee combat system... Lol.

Guess they're saving the big guns (multiplayer) for a bigger event, can't wait.

ME was great. I should have said "FPS SP".

We've only seen snippets of the SP so far. I wouldn't call it a "corridor" shooter, but looks to be relying on scripted event. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but is a little tired for the genre.

The issue isn't that it's a corridor shooter, it's that Dice proved with BC2 that they have zero talent when it comes to designing one.

Yeah, all of DICE's single player games could have been great if it wasn't for a few dumb decisions.

Why does neogaf love hating things?

This game looks awesome and I can't wait. Came for the multi, stayed for the sweet single player campaign (and more multi).

The guns and sounds are fantastic, that Little Bird dropping ammo casings while firing that minigun at the end was fantastic. I didnt like the QTEs much though.

As long as they show Multiplayer soon enough, i will be happy. (probably E3 though)

Yeah, I'm surprised at the negativity for this one. It lacks the HOLY SHIT of the first one, since that was the reveal and all, but it's definitely a really strong trailer that shows off the combat well. A ton better than the second trailer.

The hand to hand was cool, the outdoor stuff was crazy, the chopter dropping bullets was insane.

Indoor visuals sucked big time though. Nothing on Crysis 2, nothing.

SP is a necessary evil.

Can you imagine the reviews if it shipped as a MP only title. :D

Maybe the apathy for this is because we've seen most of it already. This is leading up to the earthquake sequence that leaked a few weeks back.

And the amount of times those gifs were posted means that the shock and awe of it has been lost.

Visuals still impress, but it's looking more and more like yet another "Set Piece: The Video Game". Fingers crossed that it's something more.

Best uncross them fingers cause that's exactly what its going to be. Aside from a few Eastern European exceptions, COD Clones are the industry standard now.

It looks good but I think they're showing the wrong parts of this. No one wants to see people crawling in a vent and cutting a wire in a hype trailer.

But I'm glad they added a single player and are apparently putting some effort into it. I wouldn't have considered buying it if it was MP only, especially because EA would have still charged $60 for it.

Loved the 60fps version... but is it just me or is the theme currently scary?

I feel uncomfortable when parts of the song drop and it could very well fit a horror movie... :( I hope they change this.

Can we move on to the MP content already?

for all of you who don't understand why no one gives a crap about SP:

1. There are 29993482904309 single player MARINE FPS games.
2. It lasts 5 hours while MP lasts for hunderds of hours, (unless it's cod which i played in avarage 30 hours online untill i saw everything and did everything it has to offer. )
3. Play with FRIENDS not AI.
4. Battlefield moments

I can keep giving more reasons but what's the point.

You got that backwards. People do seem to care about the SP, it's just that a few people either don't understand or don't accept that.

QTE's, scripted events, AI soldiers rushing to each other with no regard to cover, and barely any recoil or muzzle flip on that LMG. My favorite part though, was when the player took a hot brass shower from that Little Bird.

BF3 singleplayer looks so scripted and boring. Why am I not the one in the Little Bird at the end or any other vehicle I want? Oh, I have to run to the scripted bridge event and wait, so awesome.

Having two game types instead of one is bad! Hmph.

You realize that there is no recoil because of the tripod (or stand? I think it is called that way, dont shoot me)?

At 1:35 the player is standing on the bridge and laying down fire, no bi pod at all. There doesn't seem to be much difference in recoil from when he is standing, to going prone and using the bi pod. At one point he rips off like a 30-35 round burst, while standing, without much recoil at all.

LMG's are pretty accurate under full auto in BC2, no doubt. I would like them to not be so much accurate and have a bit more recoil though.

Look at the brass shower, Lol. It burns!

So can we expect CounterStrike 2 to have a singelplayer as well?
Counter-Strike was never a full retail game. Yes I know, CZ kind of was, but that does not count :p

edit: and at above - same with TF2.

Define "full retail game". After Valve snapped up the CS duo, it was sold at retail. TF2 was sold at retail from the get-go.

Don't move the goalposts.

Counterstrike 2 won't be i would imagine coming out on consoles so no.

And the orignal CS was from a time when PC players were happy to just play competitively.

Over 1.5 million people bought the xbox version of CS alone.

It was a million + seller on xbox and consoles are shooter sales heaven.

It very well could release on the PS3 with Steamworks. I can't imagine Valve releasing it on the X360 with Microsoft's stringent policies firmly in place.

And yet CS: Source is nowhere to be seen on consoles.

Are you crazy? Of course it will. L4D being so popular on Xbox was a pretty huge reason L4D2 was greenlit so quickly. And now that Sony is allowing Steam on PS3, you can bet your last dollar CS2 will be released on it too.

I never said it did not sell well. But you have to be realistic. Releasing a MP only game for 60$ is not going to work that well nowadays.

"Were"? The two Counter-Strike games are by far the most popular games on Steam. Either one has a current player-counter ~twice that of the third most-popular title.

I would have much preferred BC2 and Homefront to just leave the SP out, considering how short and mediocre they were. Of course, that's in hindsight.
