Battlefield 4 Beta Thread: Prepare 4 Battle (Update to beta drivers)

I played for a bit yesterday and crashed three times amid pretty bad FPS swings (GTX 580/4670k/1080p) on the beta drivers. Once was the same "crash on revive" bug that BF3 had, one was a server crash (I think), and the other was just out of the blue. I think I'm going to have to wait and see whether or not they've made fixes to the problems that drove me out of BF3 or whether they'll remain in there.

Is there anything I can do to fix the FPS at the very least? Graphical settings seem to have very little to do with it, and BF3 runs fine on ultra.

I am having a tough time with the sniper rifles. I think the trail is making it real hard for me to track where my rounds are going. IDK, bullet velocity seems way slow and I was trying to aim up at people on C and I had no idea where my rounds were going. It really is dumb how much BF overcompensates to give you the bullet drop effect.

i sniped a lot on bf3. the bullet velocity also seems slower to me although it appears that the bullet drop isn't as severe.

I had an awesome moment in the game where I killed 5 people while parachuting. Makes me wish there was a 'share' button' on the PC :P

I think the share button will come very, very handy on the PS4.

I have a feeling Twitch, YouTube or possibly a new-comer will implement this in the next year

Played a few matches over the past two days on PS3. Really fun game, I'm really digging it. Graphics are kinda meh compared to next gen but that doesn't really bother me as the gameplay is quite fun. It's a lot less clusterfucky than Call of Duty multiplayer due to the larger maps, so that's a plus in my eyes. I'm considering putting down a pre-order for this one.

I'm done with this beta. Everything seems to have become too obtuse. I want to spawn on a squad member I need fifty buttons to do it. Why won't they still not let you change up stuff when waiting for a new game. But it's the freezing I can't handle. The constantly falling through the ground made me quit bf3 beta.

I've played a handful of rounds on PC, but I still fail to see a major difference from 3.
The net code seems awesome though. There was like 0 latency when I played.

Console I assume?

Beta being beta... DICE, please fix this cubemap! ;)
Thanx's!

Even on console D-pad up/down is squad spawn. Right-stick is flags and vehicles. Now THAT (right-stick) is the bothersome part. There's times I can't choose the goddamn vehicles.

It's designed for touchpads and mouses this outing and it sucks.

It's D-pad for squad, one stick for flags and the other for vehicles on that flag. And I'm pretty sure spawning on teammates in vehicles can also be done with on of the sticks.

DICE really has terrible UI designers. It was a mess in BF3, but somehow they managed to make it even worse.

After playing for a while, this looks more like an alpha than a beta. I mean, there are so many bugs. Some of them are hilarious.

I saw a guy running over a tank with an apc. Literally.

I tried playing on the DICE BETA TEST or whatever servers and I would get absolutely insane rubberbanding on all of them (servers being labeled as italian for some reason). I went back the zee germans straight away and never looked back. I won't get commanders but at least I can play relatively lag free. Dutch servers seem alright too.

Ok, now the game won't launch for me. It just sits at the 'Joining server' bar in battle log. Has anyone else encountered this? It was working fine earlier today. I didn't change anything.

Exit the game and Origin/Battlelog (BOTH of them) and then restart Origin.

God damn it, I know they're transport helicopters but the fucking retards that keep taking them and then just jumping off when they reach the top of their precious sniper tower where they waste time the whole match are infuriating.

Also, why is the defib not starter tool... why the tube? So dumb.

It's a shame that the central building always comes down. It transforms the map into a really boring gray mess. Plus, there are some great fights to be had in the elevators and on the roof.

I suspect it is there for the same reason that the Support Ammo box is unlocked far into progression : to avoid these 2 classes from gaining faster xp than the rest now that each level requires much more xp.

Not helping. I"ve restarted the computer also. I click join game, then it minimizes origin, but never actually launches the game. I havent been able to launch it since downloading battlefield 1942.

EDIT - It appears to be all Origin games. Battlefield 1942 won't start either. It immediately crashes.

Man, the AK5C is insanely good. That thing is so getting nerfed.

On paper (using symthic) the AK5C is worse than most BF3 carbines. Yet I think you and I would agree that it feels and plays better. Same with pretty much every gun. I don't know if they changed how recoil is handled but it certainly seems like there is less.

Man, I'm trying to map LMB/RMB to accelerate/brake and whenever I want go forward it honks. I think it might mapped to the Fire button. Anyway, my 8320/7950 are doing pretty well 1920 x 1080(no AA) all ultra settings.

Running it on the settings that GeForce experience put for me and it's a lot smoother with AA on top, weird lol. And I can't understand people that are saying graphics are bad or just like 3. There's so much going in in that map... Only thing distracting is the pop in so far and flickering issues when you looking down on top of the building.

My favorite area is where you can bring down the blinds, lots of great infantry fights there.

Battlelog. There is a new feature called battlescreen that give you a whole map view of the battleground while you play

Where is the Battlescreen option? My Battlelog app is only a copy/paste of the browser based version (which I can't even scroll left/right, only up/down).

I'm going to say it's because of the nerfing of suppression.

Once the building comes down the entire map is just light gray. The ground textures (or lack thereof) on the island are distracting, too. May as well be on of a Paint file that someone has just used the fill tool on.

Hyperbole.

Holy shit, this is completely unplayable due to the stutter... Tried it on two different systems which I presume are more than capable of playing this sufficiently.

i7-4960X @ 4.4 GHz
32GB of RAM
GTX 690
Windows 7 Ultimate

i7-4930MX
32GB of RAM
GTX 780M SLI
Windows 7 Ultimate

Running everything at ultra using the beta 331.40 drivers and the performance is disgustingly bad. I guess this will finally be the thing to push me to Windows 8.

I noticed on both my computers (a 780 and a 680, both i5:s), is that the game stutters a LOT when you start it the first time, then it gradually goes away. And I mean the first time. Not sure why; maybe it decompresses some assets to some per-level-cache or something; I don't know. But what I'm saying is, try playing a bit longer (if you haven't already), chances are the performance will improve. The game runs good on my 680 and perfectly on my 780 btw.

Is it really that bad on 7? I've had 8 since it was public beta, but it seems crazy that there's such a difference.

And here's me thinking Halo 2 for Vista wouldn't be repeated...

When I got knifed the frame rate dropped to about 5. Only did that the first time. Maybe it is caching as it goes along.

Man, if you're not someone who puts in 5 hours a day, knows every nook and granny of the map and can fly heli's perfectly, some of the community can be right arseholes can't they?

I have $150 credit with Dell and just plan on using it for Windows 8. I tried playing numerous times and the stuttering is present consistently.
