All in.
I've yet to play Shadowrun Returns but this may force me to play something I helped funded right away.

There'll be a livestream on Monday when the Kickstarter launches:

By the way, I would love to make the thread for the Kickstarter - is it possible to "reserve" it or has anyone else already done that?
As far as I know, there's no way to reserve a KS thread. Just make a thread when it's up.

Also, if you want to get a good glimpse into the series, I'd suggest you watch the following intros for each game, since they encapsulate the spirit of the universe really well:

Mechwarrior 2 Intro (THE GOAT)
- Clan Wolf Intro + Jade Falcon intro
Mechwarrior 2: Ghost Bear's Lecacy Intro
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries intro
Mechwarrior 3 intro
Mechwarrior 4 intro (maximum cheesy acting)

Mechcommander intro

Mercs still has one of the best intros of all time.
"Look at the bright side, kid. You get to keep all the money."

So great to have the original creator of Battletech in charge of the company involved in making it for PC. We spent an hour with him at PAX Prime talking about Craston Snords Irregulars, heat dissipation in water, and the new graphics engine they are using. It was NERDTIME

Really hyped for this to KS to go live, i hope they already significant portion of the game finished so we don't have to wait too long for it.

HBS always has the best concept art.

I'll back this even though Battletech doesn't hold the nostalgic value for me that SR does. At the very least, I still expect a solid and well-written SRPG. And I want to help keep the studio afloat so we'll get more Shadowrun sometime in the future.
And maybe Earthdawn one day.

Not too familiar with Battletech, other than the name.

Why do some of the mech designs look so similar to Robotech/Macross?

Because way back in the days, FASA (creator of Battletech) purchased designs from several Japanese animes (including Macross) for its Mechs.

In for this so much. HBS has done wonderful work with the Shadowrun series. I am perfectly content to let them lose a bit of the story work for some more sweet gameplay.

PUT ME IN A MECH!

Always loved the MechCommander intro

Planet Port Arthur, Deep in Clan territory, the counter attack begins =D

Will see if this is worth backing.

Yeah, that looked great. I need to check it out

It's a great game. Piloting feels much heavier and everything moves and clunky. The cockpit is the best thing to the series.

Microsoft licensed this out? Why don't they give this shit the funding it deserves.

I want Microsoft to stay as far away as possible from this. They were the ones responsible for the temporary death of Mechwarrior and Mechcommander along with the emphasis on and direction of the Mechassault bullshit we saw on Xbox.

Stage 1: Skirmish game which they already have funds for

Stage 2: expanded full-fledged story campaign

Stage 3: Contracts + Procedural generation

Stage 4: PvP multiplayer

EDIT: Thanks More_badass

Stage 1: They're funding the skirmish game already

Stage 2: Dunno, didn't catch that.

Stage 3: Procedural generation

Stage 4: PvP multiplayer
2 is an expanded full-fledged story campaign
3 sounds like the campaign is expanded even more, with being to grow your reputation among the factions with procedural side contracts

No gameplay on the kickstarter video but the collaborators are essentially the dream team for this type of game from a creative point of view. I'm going to back at a high tier, Shadowrun was handled very well and HB delivered some of my best games in year.

Edit: 18 Months development period.

Twitch ain't letting me watch the stream for some reason.

I did always wonder what the connection between Mechwarrior and Macross was. Though, really, I don't really have any sympathy for Harmony Gold, those license-hogging hacks can get fucking bent. They're pretty much the biggest roadblock in the legal clusterfuck that prevents the non-OG Super Robot Wars games from leaving Japan.
And a big example of why copyright law needs serious reform.

Awesome, they already have 25 Battlemechs they definitely want in the game but will keep adding mechs for a few months after the KS campaign. No Mechs are off the table even the unseen (re-imagined OFC due to the legal issue).

Melee combat and salvaging are also key gameplay components!

Some preliminary notes so far

  • They haven't finished the full mech list yet.
  • Combined Arms will be one of the first things to add to the game.
  • Clan mechs aren't going to show up, but hoping for stuff in the future
  • Scenario editor will be available in the first stage.
  • Emblem design might be available
  • Cold war setting rather than all-out war setting

No Timber Wolf? What a shame.

No clan stuff is going to be a turn off for alot of people, those too many of the only video gaming side of the spectrum really only recognize the clan designs.

Jon Everist, dude behind Shadowrun, is returning to make the music for Battletech

Atlas design is pretty noteworthy though. Mechcommander didn't feature Clan mechs in their marketing and promotion, so this will probably be fine. The Catapult will probably pick up the slack for the lack of a Timberwolf :P

I don't know anything about this franchise but i want this just because of HBS. Dragonfall was fantastic. Can't back it (too expensive with the currency exchange over here), but will keep an eye on it and probably buy this on launch. The premise is really good.

I did back Hong Kong, though. Still haven't played it yet. ):

Do you guys think there will be gameplay tomorrow?

Do you guys think there will be gameplay tomorrow?

Probably not. A proof of concept might be shown in a KS update during the funding campaign, but don't expect anything major. They showed some cool concept art of the gameplay vision they have for the game.

Just give me my ATLAS and i will give you my money.

Although, when you see the quality of the 3d models from the Shadow run series.... it makes me wonder of the quality of the mech´s models.

I hope im wrong.
