Bay-helmed Transformers 4 will be a semi-reboot

A hybrid? A reboot with the same director of the previous installments? Bah, Bay is loving that Transformer$ cash.

I guess the only logical route would be to have Jason Statham cast as Sam's son in the future, with Rodimus as the lead. Kind of makes me ill just thinking of it.

With the Rock as the voice of Optimus.

These movies are okay during scenes where it's just great special effects, mayhem, and Steve Jablonsky's awesome score. Unfortunately these sequences are almost surrounded by fucking nonsense. Again I liked the third movie because at least about halfway through it Bay gets all the stupid bullshit out of his system and just simply delivers on the entertainment. I wish the films in general were closer to the second half of that one.

Wrong.

TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT, BROTHER!

Will not get tricked again. Transformers 3 had more cohesive action but was just a poorly written/structured as Revenge of the Fallen.

Transformers 3 made me so much angrier than the other ones. Not because it was worse than 2, it wasn't, but because if they had cut an hour out of it it could have been an incredibly fun popcorn movie.

What the hell does semi-reboot even mean? How will this work? Meh, they needed a way to continue and now they got it.

They could just go Transformers: The Movie still semi-reboot. Make it set in the near future, like 2030, have Prime along with a big new cast of bots, and bring on Unicron.

It would be a good chance to clean up the bot designs too. Just say that after 20 years on Earth, the cybertronians have fully assimilated human technology and industrial design, so their aesthetics are different.

It means read the OP. Continuity with the old movies will follow, but most if not all of the original cast will be replaced.
I already did, still makes little sense. How is that a reboot if you're just following different characters? Is the visual design changing somehow? Is the story not acknowledging previous events?

They'll probably cherry pick what they want and continue the story on like nothing is different a la The Incredible Hulk.

Finally, another fictional action movie worth watching. It's been nothing but buzz killers for the past five years.

With that said, Grimlock or bust.

Would've liked to see someone else take the reigns but my only hope is that they get some better writers and edit out a bit more. If DotM were to have 20-30 minutes of the first hour cut I think the movie would've been a lot better overall. The technical aspect of the movies is still ace though.

Maybe they're planning to blow up Vulcan.

My thoughts as well. Set the next movie in the future, and show audiences how society and technology have evolved with the Cybertronian presence on Earth.

I really wish people would stop crying for Unicron. Bay couldn't develop 5 Transformers across three movies and you want him to touch Unicron?

At a certain point, it's kind of like the Frank Miller's Batman effect. Yeah, it's a terrible train wreck, but at a certain point, you're inclined to say, "fuck it, let's see some more train wrecks."

But I don't want Unicron. I want a new villain – Truckasaurus Wrecks, the ancient and forgotten bane of Cybertron.

You'd live to regret it.

I can tell you how the movie would go right now.

NASA - "We've got an anomaly on the sensors. What is it? A PLANET

Prime, what do you think about this

Prime: - Legend tell of a gigantic robot that devours...

"Yeah yeah yeah. Go up there with bumblebee and check it out. and take these 3 humans that have nothing to do with this and will be of no assistance. Don't speak to anybody but them.

*dinking around for 1.5 hours figuring out how to get up there.

*get up there, humans hatch a plan to get to Unicrons core to release a virus or something, Prime and Bumblebee keep Unicron Busy. Unicron about to destroy the earth in 3...2...

Oops! We succeeded!

FIN

I am expecting transformed Unicron to have wheels instead of legs, for some reason.

Edit: Wait, what the fuck am I thinking? He's only gonna have one wheel. That's probably why they called him Unicron! /Bay

One day, I hope the reboot marketing term dies. So tired of hearing it about every franchise that comes out these days. It appears that this is going to follow the same Autobot/Decepticon characters that survived from the original three movies and they're just going to change the human characters. Fine by me. Sam, his girlfriends and his parents were the worst things about the movie. Just focus it on Lennox and his team fighting with the Autobots and make an unofficial G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover. I loved all three, though Revenge of the Fallen a little less so, so I'll definitely be there opening day.

Transformers and GI Joe crossover. Might as well make it happen.

I've been watching G1 Transformers on The Hub and I was surprised last week to see a G.I. Joe crossover episode. I didn't know G.I. Joe and Transformers were set in the same universe.
