A hybrid? A reboot with the same director of the previous installments? Bah, Bay is loving that Transformer$ cash.
I guess the only logical route would be to have Jason Statham cast as Sam's son in the future, with Rodimus as the lead. Kind of makes me ill just thinking of it.
Maybe they can make them look like Generation 1 this time.
With the Rock as the voice of Optimus.
Will not get tricked again. Transformers 3 had more cohesive action but was just a poorly written/structured as Revenge of the Fallen.
It's a continuation from the old movies in the chronological sense, but with a completely different story. Like the jump from Code Veronica to Resident Evil 4.When you run out of ideas, reboot!
What the hell does semi-reboot even mean? How will this work? Meh, they needed a way to continue and now they got it.
I already did, still makes little sense. How is that a reboot if you're just following different characters? Is the visual design changing somehow? Is the story not acknowledging previous events? It means read the OP. Continuity with the old movies will follow, but most if not all of the original cast will be replaced.

My thoughts as well. Set the next movie in the future, and show audiences how society and technology have evolved with the Cybertronian presence on Earth. They could just go Transformers: The Movie still semi-reboot. Make it set in the near future, like 2030, have Prime along with a big new cast of bots, and bring on Unicron.
It would be a good chance to clean up the bot designs too. Just say that after 20 years on Earth, the cybertronians have fully assimilated human technology and industrial design, so their aesthetics are different.
I just want to hear more of this:

Dear Michael Bay
Please do a stripped down stylish action movie like The Rock or Bad Boys 2 again.
Enough with the robots for now.
I really wish people would stop crying for Unicron. Bay couldn't develop 5 Transformers across three movies and you want him to touch Unicron?
Mr.Bay please stop with this Transformers shit and just give us fucking BAD BOYS 3. That's all.
I enjoyed those comics.Transformers and GI Joe crossover. Might as well make it happen.
At a certain point, it's kind of like the Frank Miller's Batman effect. Yeah, it's a terrible train wreck, but at a certain point, you're inclined to say, "fuck it, let's see some more train wrecks."
But I don't want Unicron. I want a new villain Truckasaurus Wrecks, the ancient and forgotten bane of Cybertron.
Transformers and GI Joe crossover. Might as well make it happen.
