Bayonetta looking different accross platforms during demo event.

Whatever you say SDF.

Sure, man. I don't doubt that this game will be more fun for you than Uncharted 2, you've already made up your mind that you'll love it due to what could be many factors that just seem right on with your idea of what makes a game awesome. And there's nothing wrong with that. Still, it doesn't mean that your idea of a fun game matches up identically with anyone else's idea of a fun game, or mine for that matter.

Kamiya's reputation was enough to get me to pay attention to the game. It looks like the humor skews to the young end of the teen crowd. There's nothing wrong with that. It just doesn't do anything for me.

I'm so angry at Platinum Games I can barely type this post. Look at Killzone 2 and see what you can do with the PS3.

I guess after your last post you must've felt ignored.

Dont worry, I appreciate your obviously 100% troll free post this time.

I knew it!! As soon as I saw that the PS3 version ran like shit over at N4G, I was like "PS3 GAF will probably shit on this game now" and then I came and clicked the thread. Lo and behold :lol :lol

Okay, this is the second post - although indirectly, that is a take on that Bayonetta appeals to horny little teenagers.

Here's an alternative theory. People are looking forward to Bayonetta because it's the first pure-action game from kamiya, the guy that essentially created the modern definition of 3D action post 2001. And now, he's coming back to it. That's a bit exciting no? Oh wait no, people are looking foward to Bayonetta because us 13 yr. olds get all buttered up by seeing the top half of a bitch's ass-crack.

You need to understand that there is a sizeable percentage of people who don't give a fuck what Bayonetta's character looks like, what the music is, all that matters it the action-gameplay. I couldn't care less if the main character was fucking TOFU.

And likewise, the fuck makes Uncharted so 'mature?"

Basically.

Not really. Other than your "she looks weird, or her head is too big" nobody really questioned the game's take on combat especially considering the people behind it.

If a multiplatform game is revealed to be inferior on the PS3, there does seem to be a noticeable large increase in "hate" directed towards it, moreso even if it was 360 exclusive.

This is the same game with the super easy mode where you just press a single button repeatedly to jump around, slash and do a whole bunch of other combos right?

Yes, an optional mode available on Very Easy and Easy.

Well, it's not like I'm without the resources to play the better version of the game, but since I use my PS3 for damn near everything, I naturally tend to pick up games for it too. So, I'm saddened to see this. If it's not fixed by launch or by US launch, Platinum Games deserves all the shit they get. Not because they are a small team or whatever. Simply because time and time and time again they told us both versions would be the same.

So, if the PS3 version sucks come release, let them have it.

Basically, if you can't get both versions up to par, just make one version. How hard is that? Making a poor version and a good version does more harm than good to your company and your image.

It's sad. History has proven you get back what you put into a PS3 port. Sloppy seconds never go down well, this game will bomb hard on PS3.

For such a small team with a tight budget, this. Seriously. I'll sell enough on 360 alone anyways, then they can use the profits to get better.

So basically PS3 get's Bayonothing, and 360 gets Ninja Gaiden 2 Beta.

It's also not a sloppy port.

Ultimately isn't this entire argument moot?

As it stands, the DEMO of Bayonetta PS3 is sloppy, nobody knows of the final game. The game was also delayed to October from an earlier release date. It's likely they delay was due to iron out the flaws of the Ps3 version.

Sure they have. There's a large contingent who think Itagaki is superior to Kamiya and aren't afraid to voice their opinion. Again, who's backpedaling?

It works both ways; PS3 fans don't have a monopoly on stupid. Go into NGS2 and try to sift through the nitpicking by all the luminaries there (many of whom are here crowing about PS3 fanboydom).

This game looked to bomb hard from the moment the conept was unveiled. Now a partial excuse for it's future failure will be down to soddy port.

But then PS3 gets NG2 Sigma, and 360 gets Bayoeverything...

?

PROFIT.

Unfortunately, shoddy ports aren't a reason for game failure anymore, though I thought they were. Ghostbusters seems to have done fine and it's one of the shoddiest ports in years.

That's basically what I see here as well.

I mean, far be it for me to understand why they put out a build that was possibly as "un-optimized" as it was. I guess they really wanted to at least show that the PS3 version "exists".

In any case, it was probably an old build that was made any where from like 6 months ago or more. Let's if things change by TGS. If we stand to get more of the same by TGS, then yeah, it may be safer to assume that the PS3 version is going to be gimped.

For right now, though? I'm willing to give P* the benefit of the doubt.

Well, the nitpicking by 360 fans over there is valid, Ninja Gaiden 2 was disappointing in more ways than one to put it lightly.

And I don't think anyone has actually claimed Itagaki to be superior to Kamiya (aside from the specific mechanics to mechanics debate - pretty much exclusive to NGblack versus DMC3 - a game Kamiya had nothing to do with), let alone "A LARGE" contingent. :lol :lol :lol

Wasn't this game supposed to be ready in October, and the only reason the NA release was delayed was because of Sega's uber mega strategy?

Well, now they have time to fix any issues that arise.

Bayonetta has never been a looker to me, and there's more to how a game looks than .gifs running at less than half the resolution of a PS1 title, but I wouldn't remotely say it looks bad, though someone who says that is entitled to their opinion. I mean the game is pretty... unique, visually. It's bound to have lovers and haters on look/style alone. Though there's nothing more annoying than the gamut of fanboy politics going on in this thread, but I don't think it's honestly 'PS3 GAF' who's at fault here; there have been mixed opinions on Bayonetta for some time. Comments like 'Naughty Dog should take notes from Bayonetta' are laughable, but at the very least we aren't having yet another GoW thread crapped up by insecurities. Hopefully the PS3 version gets up to snuff and there's a kickass demo to try out. I've never been a huge fan of DMC, so Bayonetta has a lot to provefor me personally. I want there to be more platforming, less blatant kill rooms, more depth to the gameplay, that sort of thing. Combos are fun but that was never enough to get me to beat DMC3 TBH, I hope Bayonetta offers a more balanced experience.

Too bad. I had planned on getting it on PS3 for many of the reasons listed here. Looks like a 360 buy for me, though I'm not happy about it.

Regardless, it's still one of the games I'm most looking forward to.

edit: By the way, that guy that's blaming all the Bayonetta hate on upset PS3 fans clearly hasn't been following Bayonetta threads. It's one of the most divisive games in recent memory.

This past makes zero sense.

What makes you think this will sell enough on 360 alone to make a profit? DMC4 did about 260k (First month) in US on 360, maybe 50k in japan, god knows what it did in Europe. These games are catering to the same audience and DMC had branding to back it up. Bayonetta will not have at all so unless Sega really steps up there advertising, I don't see this game beating DMC numbers. I said it once and ill say it again they need good sales for the PS3 version so they need to clean it up.

Theres even a contingent thinking that Arkham Asylum's freeflow combat system shits on all the old school stuff. I remember the horrible button combinations DMC1 forced me to remember. Batman actually gave me hope that this genre still can be fun.

Or does Bayonetta have something similar?

I'm not attempting to say that Uncharted is the pinnacle of mature gaming, but compared to Bayonetta, Uncharted is Noam Fucking Chomsky.

The TGS demo build will be the one from E3. However the demo that we'll supposedly get for PSN and XBL is different.

Generally if a port is struggling this close to release on the PS3 it's not looking good. I can't think of one port that was looking rough turning out that great. I wouldn't get your hopes up to high. I hope I'm wrong though.

ugh, I really wanted to get this game but if this is true. Iono if I can, I refuse to buy it on 360 due to controller reasons. Sega, do not make me cancel my pre-order.

Disappointing if it really does end up being a sloppy port, but I'm still going to wait and see when the final version releases or when they put out a demo. A lot of the time when people complain about these bad PS3 ports they aren't as bad as they are made out to be, but the stuff about framerate problems doesn't sound good, especially when DMC manages to run at 60fps and looks great on both systems.

No it's not fucking valid, it's petty sour grapes but sour grapes and bitter tears fuel the industry so it's not even noteworthy.

Well, yeah, Itadaki vs. Kamiya is mostly expressed as DMC vs. NG, but that's the comparison that matters, at least in the context of discussing Bayonetta. Though usually the Kamiya defense force (sad how that phrase even has meaning here) will then bring up Viewtiful Joe or Okami.

im sure that they'll have the 360 version done, and everybody will be getting the ps3 version up to scratch. there is no cause for panic :D

(panics)

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a (better) PS3 demo build ready by TGS, though?

I mean, it should go without saying that the PS3 version is likely going to be the version that most Japanese gamers would be looking to purchase in October. They're going to be as nonplussed as we are, if the TGS or PSN demos don't deliver.

My man, Bayonetta is due out in Japan in October on PS3. Only the US version was delayed. One can only wish it is to iron out PS3 issues, but I have my fears. With the game this close, it's gone to be damn near done. I would like to be surprised though.

Lets hope eh? If it's great, kudos! If it sucks, rage.

Don't worry, Bayonetta has a mode just for you.

To tell you the truth I liked DMCs take on action game combos. There was less "press this exact line of buttons to do this long combo", instead it was more "here are a lot of vague skills along with a few predetermined combos, see how long you can chain them together".

Batman: AA basically has a more simplified(and fun) version of the Assassin's Creed combat system, which I like.

Pretty sad that the PS3 version runs like crap. This game shows no indication that it is pushing the X360 nor the PS3 hardware all that much.
