Bayonetta will be available for PSN [has been for months]

Did they patch or fix the PS3 Bayonetta at some point? I have it for the 360 but for that low price I could get it again if it runs fine without those initial framerate and graphical issues I heard that the PS3 owners had to suffer.

Please see the entirety of the thread for your answer.

No the framerate and graphical quality never got fixed.

I bought a 360 just so I could have the best version of Bayonetta. Played the demo on PS3, and even with the lower framerate, it's a spectacular game.

I would advise PS3 owners not to purchase this game. The people behind this game do not deserve your money and should not be rewarded for their LAZINESS.

If you want to play Bayonetta, do it on your xbox, otherwise skip this turd.

Just finished this game on 360 this past Saturday after owning it for 2 years. The game is awesome! I loved everything about it except the repetition of fighting the same bosses over and over.

Hearing too many conflicting opinions on how bad the framerate gets on the PS3 version.

I come from a background where I would spend a lot of time perfecting Royal Guarding enemy attacks in DMC3 and instant-revving in DMC4. Does the framerate get bad enough on the PS3 version of Bayonetta that would make precise things like that impossible?

Yes.

Well, I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I would say that the framerate would be something that would bother you.

Be interesting to see what kind of port it would be on WiiU (If Ninty pays for it, because Sega sure won't) .

Would it be better or same as 360 or more closer to ps3.

The only negative I have towards Bayonetta are those instant-kill QTE's. It doesn't help that the window to complete them is a second or so, and if you fail them you can pretty kiss your great ranking goodbye. I'm on my third play-through, and I still can't remember when [and which] they will appear. -_-

Everything else, though, is incredible. I originally played it on Normal, then Easy [to unlock the Immortal Marionette for completion-sake], and now I'm on Hard. The enemies are a lot more aggressive and with the more complicated ones showing up a lot sooner. It really surprised me, and I'm looking forward to Non-Stop Infinite Climax mode afterwards. >:)

[I played in on the PS3, and outside of a few slowdown issues, it was entirely playable for me. Keep in mind that I don't have the 360 version to compare it to, so that might contribute. Either way, if you only own a PS3, this game still definitely deserves to be played, and numerous times. It's perfection.]

If they do it in-house it would be great. They did that for Vanquish and the parity was damn close.

So does the game have such time sensitive things in it? If so it's unplayable, as I've been saying over and over...

I plan on picking this up in the next few weeks and I'm extremely excited to play it.

I don't own an Xbox, nor do I have any plans to get one in the future, so it looks like this is the only way to go for me. I remember playing the demo and nothing stood out as overtly bad, so maybe I won't notice having not played/seen the Xbox version.

No, not really. The thing is, when a guy spends months perfecting Royal Guard and shit, I would assume he has a pretty good eye for framerate drops. They don't really affect gameplay, but you can definitely notice them.
It's not like in NG II where you felt the framerate was fucking your timing up, I don't think.

Bayonetta PS3 runs consistently worse, with worse tearing, and washed out visuals, than the 360 version. This version, and no patch, will fix this.

The patch adds an install option with dramatically improves loading times, which were terrible in the vanilla version. Loading is not an issue with the patch installed. That is the main improvement it offers.

If you own a 360 and PS3, you'd be mad to skip out on the 360 version of Bayonetta. It is objectively the superior version.

If you only own a PS3, and thus that is the only way you can play Bayonetta, you too would be mad to skip out on it just because of the port issues. The port issues are bad. It's not a very good port. But it's more than playable, none of the issues are "game breaking", and you'll still have an excellent experience.

All of this.

Does anyone know if the "install" option is available in the PSN version? And if you do choose to "install" this digital game (which is already installed), what would happen?

Should I buy the disc version, or this digital release?

I got rid of my xbox 360 but I miss bayo so I need to get her back.

To be honest, I don't think I would have bothered buying the game if I only had a PS3. The xbox version's framerate is already less than optimal, and plummets every time the game engine is stressed (which happens mainly during boss fights). I wouldn't want to play a game than runs worse than that. Sure it's a good game, but I wouldn't want to play it and then think every 5 seconds "I wish this game ran better than that".

Edit:

You can pretty much ignore all these extremist pro-360 posts.
I finished the game, post patch on the PS3 and it was completely and utterly fine. I think maybe at one or two points for /literally a second or so/ it noticably dropped frames. The load times I didn't have any issue with.

It's another example of when a game is multiplatform, people nitpick down to the finest detail. It's ridiculous.
Buy it, play it, enjoy it. I intend to (again) on my PS3 very soon.

Running consistently 20 fps below the other version of the game is not what I call a "fine detail".

Facts: PS3 version has...

Choppy framerate
Blurry textures
Less vibrant colors
Longer load times (even with patch)

...compared to the 360 version. Hell, even Kamiya doesn't consider the PS3 port to be his game. Sega fucked it up. It's playable but it's truly a shoddy port and a real shame.

I have both versions and the PS3 version post patch is very blurry compared to the 360 version and it runs at half the frame rate of the 360 version. 360 version runs at 60 frames, ps3 an unsteady 30.

Do not listen to this man. I would only pick up Bayonetta PS3 if you plan to literally NEVER own a 360 (like, ever). Even then it might be worth just waiting till the 360 is like 50$ and then picking one up just for the good version of this game. I would honestly almost treat this as an Xbox 360 Exclusive (and this is coming from someone who largely uses a PS3 for games not on the PC).

Have you played it on 360?

It is night and day.

Yep. I don't understand how anyone could look at this and tell me with a straight face that the differences are minimal.

Also, I wish we could get a real 60 fps version. Even if the xbox version is leagues above the PS3 one, it's still far from perfect.

This game is indeed hot garbage on ps3, and I say this not only as a Bayonetta fan, but as someone who really does not care for the 360 much at all. I wish it weren't so, but yeah, it's bad.

ROFL, thanks for the laugh.

It was good enough for me to finish and enjoy on the PS3 and rate it as a really great game. I suspect a lot of people are just rehashing posts they saw on the internet and never got to see for themselves.
It's fine, if you've only got a PS3 - then it's a no brainer. If you have both consoles, I can only speculate it's better on the 360.
I've only got a PS3 and I still got to play it.

I don't have a 360, I played this on PS3 and loved it. Sure, it's the inferior version, but it's 100% playable and a good time. How much better the other version is doesn't matter if you only have a PS3. It's still worth being played. The frame rate is annoying sometimes but far from ruining the game.

If you have both platforms the 360 version is better but if you just got a PS3, I don't believe the problems it has will deter you from playing the game. Bayonetta is a great game.

wizzbang indeed.

The difference is night and day, especially when framerates are important.

I've put like 30+ hours in the game (on PS3) and was going fine...
Then I downloaded some trailers of it from PSN (the irony)...
Now I can't get past the fact that the trailers are super smooth and vibrant... It has somewhat ruined the game for me...

Hey guys is it ever hinted that bayo 1 would be released on the wiiU or do I have to buy a X360 just for this game...?

The only areas with good fps are the Alfheim Portals... It's like playing a whole different game... The worst areas are the escort missions with the electrified water...
