Ok I get it now.I don't mind games with anthropomorphic mammals in them, just this devianart shit style i don't like. Post 55 has a video that looks awesome.
Last I heard the developer had disappeared off the face of the internet for a long while.

Profound Sadness...
What's the latest ver. of Monster AC atm? I lost the install files of the last ver. that was online.
Looks cool. What's with some of the reactions? Anthromorphic animals seems to be love or hate around here.
Sexualize Anthropomorphic creates a fear of the unknown furry fetish that might lurk inside of us.
And many of us rather not unlock or look at that fear, and would avoid that situation all together.
But yeah...The art design is full of furry fetish from my pov.

FWIW, I think what they're asking for in total is fairly appropriate or even cheap for what they're doing. I quoted a big infodump post by the lead animator admitting that the initial funds were in part/mostly consumed by figuring out their production pipeline was way more expensive than they expected it to be.
Skullgirls, which appears to functionally have a similar style of production to this one, had an IGG that ended up raising over $800k for 5 characters, with one of them being an edit of an existing one. And the team has put the record that this amount essentially excludes them being paid beyond life support.
I agree that this group sorely needs some management and better PR if they want to court more public funding/support, but there is nothing particularly scammy about the KS itself. It's just, like you said, not framed as a good sell.
-- There isn't a reward tier for buying the game this time around, why is that?
There isn't one because we're not offering a full game this time around. We're actually focusing merely on cutting production time down so we stop stagnating the game's release. We're trying to get a finished demo post EVOLUTION 2014 to be able to show off at future fighting game events, and without the funding we're going to take even longer. So we're focusing solely on this demo release. However, people who donated before when we were running the Indiegogo campaign will still receive what they donated for, that hasn't changed.

I think the cost is not as cheap as you assume it to be. They said that they spent the majority of their $21000 on Vincent and partly on Don. They need an additional $45,000 in order to finish the two characters and get a demo out. They also note explicitly that this is because they need additional animators to work full time on the characters. That means close to $66,000 will have been spent on finishing two characters. Skullgirls cost $150,000 for one DLC character. That makes it seem cheap, right? It would, if the money for Skullgirls was only needed for the animators, like in Beast's Fury. What is the cost for that specifically?
According to them: $30,000: Animation and Clean-up Contracting
I think they are just bad at managing their money. And the results aren't looking good. I wouldn't compare Skullgirls to this mess at all. I don't think they are trying to scam, although while we are on the topic, yeah, some of the stuff they are doing does seem scammy. But I think it is just them being too hopeful rather than try to con people. For example:
Except...

Or from their IndieGoGo
They can't guarantee any of that. Because both of their initial goals are for demos and then they are going to go shopping for publishers. What if they can't find one? Are they going to continue working on this in their spare time, aiming for a Winter 2027 release?

I'm not comparing this to SG because the level of quality and organization is on the same level--it's not--but because the method of animation and how it's produced in the end is similar.
Also that Kotaku article is being overly modest, as was the Skullgirls IGG, in presenting the cost of making one character. Squigly, the character in that article, already had a notable portion of her animation work already completed, which is why they were able to present her at a lower projected cost for the breakdown.
But I generally agree with the rest of what you said. I don't think they have the intent to be shady about what they're offering--it's just not well-thought-through, and therefore a poor investment.

The only thing that approaches furry levels of creep in Disney movies is that one scene where Nahla laying down, getting ready for some Simba lovin'. And conker's not furry either. There's anthro characters... Then there's... Furry. The definition is kinda like how that one judge defined porn; I can't define it but I know it when I see it.why are some people really don't like furries ? Didn't they like Disney's movies or Conker bad Fur day ?
Best name Idea yet..... I am very big into anime but furries... there is something that just triggers a "NOPE" button in my brain.Fursona 4 - Arena Ultimaximal
Also, here's a Japanese fighting game featuring anthropomorphic animals.
The only way to top this amount of faux internet disgust with a game concept is if someone announces a Nickelback RPG.
Monster. The dude behind making it all work is going through some major shit right now. Once he gets right I hope he comes back to finish what he started on the new version. But the game itself has gone through hell and back with all the drama attached to it. Even with Ancient Cline which he's working on finishing.
The old version for OG Monster V1.11 is still out there if you can find it. And if not then playing DragonBlast is an option too.
Beast's Fury looks pretty cool. Here's hoping they get what they need.
All the characters that look terrible do so in part to the fact they have human hair ontop on animal fur. Makes no sense, looks stupid. Biggest sin in anthropomophizing characters is adding completely unnecessary human traits like hair and overally human figures.
Arthur (PBS) the fighting game?
Yep.Only furry fighter im interested in is Bloody Roar.

I've got no opinion way or the other on 'Furries'. I quite like some of those character designs, although the big beasts on the females disturb me a little. But it's budgetary matters which concern me most; it looks like they cannot budget for shit and given they're not even making a full game, what's the incentive for backing this again?
Lol who's the whiny baby exactly?I really hate how GAF becomes a bunch of whiny babies whenever the subject of furries comes up. If some dude wants to draw a humanoid rabbit with giant tits and an even bigger dick then that's their prerogative. I thought America was a free country?
Guess Walt Disney and Hanna Barberra were bunch of sicko's too although to be fair most cartoon animals don't have the anime hair or sexualized design that furry is known for. I think really this is people's internal insecurities coming out on display. Don't like it, don't watch it.
I guess people should be ashamed for watching Thundercats and Rescue Rangers as well or hell TMNT but they don't. Conversely those designs are a different from what we call your typical furry which itself is not bad but Rule 34 in any form irks me
Lol who's the whiny baby exactly?
In my experience, furry even beats MLP and anime as the general punchingbag of the internet. So it's nobody in particular, but the crowd in general just "whining" about the existence of these fandoms.Lol who's the whiny baby exactly?
There are a few legitimate reasons to dislike the furry fandom, but even the seediest parts of it aren't really worth scorn, they're just different or lower quality or whatever other inconsequential digs people want to make. I do find the fandom a little bit annoying on average, but I don't write anything associated to it off by default. I'm this way for a lot of stuff. I tend not to hate DA style illustration for instance, although I find a lot of it low quality anyways.
In this case, the reason I don't like this project isn't that I have something against curries, it's that I don't think the project is financially sound.

That Shark design is boss though, rest of the characters should have kept his style but you see the difference with the Fox in jeans chick who has been drawn in a rather generic deviantart style. A human with fur as opposed to how we (or say Disney) would imagine a typical humanoid cartoon fox, all lanky and short. Another issue is that these guys are writing checks their hands can't cash. Over-budget and under-talented
Not just furry really, you should check some of the threads on games with anime type art, this is the general response for the first 3-4 pages:
