Beautiful Desolation (STASIS devs) - new trailer, Kickstarted date

Thanks so much for the new thread!
I honestly cant WAIT until next Tuesday to show you what we've been up to!

Releasing a game on the same day as a Kickstarter is a crazy thing - but I think its going to be worth it!

Are they going 1080p this time, for the internal resolution? Looks stunning, but next to no details yet. Also aren't these guys also moonlighting as artists for inXile? I had feared that might mean no further projects for a while.

I guess we need to wait until next week for details, or maybe Chris can chime in :)
I am in absolute awe with the art. It looks also much crisper than STASIS.

Great visual presentation for sure. I might back it next week.

One question: Who's this dude? The protagonist?

We are currently working with a scalable engine to play the game at 4k - although it will probably be run natively at 1080p - just cos the artwork at 4k is incredibly intensive. BUT - if you have a PC that can handle it - itll be a pretty damned cool experience. :D

CAYNE is at 1080p.

Looks amazing, I only play on consoles though but just wanted to say I forwarded the Kickstarter to some friends who will be interested. Best of luck.

Is Stasis any good though? I heard very mixed opinions (especially about story)

We have a short game called CAYNE which is set in the Stasis universe that you can grab for free here:

And if you like it, there are pledges on the Kickstarter that will give you Stasis AND Beautiful Desolation when its complete. :D

And if you cant wait to get stuck in after the awesomeness of Stasis it is on sale right now at 55% off!

I meant to get around to Stasis last October and got caught up in other stuff. Need to give that a play!

Oh, so I assume it's fine to play Cayne prior to playing Stasis? No spoilers for Stasis in there?

Is there an ETA on the beta?

Honestly I dont even have an ETA on the alpha! Our beta period for CAYNE was around 3 months of testing prior to release - Desolation will probably be double that. But really - dont hold me to that - there are so many unknowns in game development!

Any plans in adding members to the dev team? Are you two still doing this alone? It seems impossible to me, heh - making such a game with just two people I mean.

Our core team will always just be Nic and I. We ran a pretty large company together for more than a decade - and it really is draining!

We managed to create CAYNE with just the two of us in a few months - so we have a lot of our processes down to a fine art. DESOLATION will also be built on an existing framework (so almost no R&D needed) - which speeds up production massively!

But we do use contractors very often (sound engineers, voice artists, musicians, etc) - and I would love to bring on additional artists on contracts - but its all budget dependent. Good quality art is expensive!
