The fact that there's any kind of consensus in this thread on Bioshock Infinite being mediocre is completely baffling to me

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
I really enjoyed playing through the world, but the gameplay is just not quite there. The fact that there's any kind of consensus in this thread on Bioshock Infinite being mediocre is completely baffling to me

for me.
There must be, and there is, even on gaf, a consensus about mediocre games (like Remember me). But mentioning every game with beautiful settings, because there is always someone who does not a like a game, make this thread hilarious.
"Game X got praise or 85% from most reviewers but I don't like aspect X of this game so it is mediocre."
Such opinions are unreflected nonsense and not helpful in any thread about mediocre games. I personally don't like Skyrim but it is obviously far from a mediocre gaming experience.
Well, Remember me was the first thing that came to mind when reading the title.
The setting kinda made the game ever more frustrating because all I wanted was to be playing a better game in this world
Wouldn't call it mediocre.
But yeah, the world and setting are BY FAR the best part of Xenoblade Chronicles. It's what elevates and okish RPG to a memorable experiene.
Story was fun, but the combat system was pretty bad and a lot of the cool locations are wasted on F2P MMO tier sidequests
This right here.
Firewatch has a very distinctive and beautiful look (that made me buy the game), but yeah, the gameplay is mediocre.
Jet Set Radio Future (Actually worse than mediocre but whatever)

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series. No other game looks so anime like, but man the gameplay is so boring to me.
Catherine. Great storyline, awesome graphics and VA. Atlus in HD! But the gameplay really drags this game down for me. Thankfully Persona 5 is coming this year.
Ctrl+F "Mafia II"
No? That was the first game that sprung to mind for me. So much potential in that world, but little to actually do or interact with sadly. And I really liked the game, but there were lots of locations in the world where I'm certain the developers were like "Ok we'll put something awesome here later", but it felt like the clock just ran out and they had to release it before they could do everything they wanted to.

Not sure what the consensus is for this, but for me the game was pretty basic and far too long. The setting was off the charts though and I especially enjoyed the Old England segments between each chapter.

Remember Me is not mediocre, it's a great game.
Flawed? Perhaps but great nonetheless.
I'm a few hours into Firewatch. I like it a lot so far. Not sure why people are listing it here.
Don't know why I didn't think of it immediately upon seeing this thread, but absolutely Anno 2205. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and a refreshing change of pace from all the other super depressing sci-fi settings you normally see in games. An optimistic future where anything seems possible through technology. Just a shame that the game is much too simplified and unlike all its predecessors only has maybe 15 hours of gameplay in it before you've quite literally finished it.

keep going
El Shaddai
This is going by my limited experience with the game and the reviews it got (Metacritic 67), but Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon.
I wish Ni no Kuni was a much better game. It's so pretty. Killer soundtrack too. I just didn't have much fun actually playing it.
El Shaddai
Guild Wars 2
Hahah, ouch, that'll rile up some fans.Bioshock Infinite.
How do you fucking dare!!Bloodborne
Classic Neogaf, they got asked to list mediocre games and you see games like Bloodborne, the Witcher 3, Xenoblade, Uncharted and other excellent games listed as mediocre games.
Final Fantasy 8
Such a beautifull game.Such great music
Yet the story is crap, the characters are total nonsense ,the draw & junction system feel undercooked to me. The difficulty curve and battle design make no sense to me.
The very first game i played i found so great looking yet i was bored out of my mind.

Nah. If the game had better combat, maybe. As it is the best gameplay stuff (the memory remixing) is too limited.
Definitely worth playing, but I would never call it great.

"Beautiful settings wasted on a game you don't like".
