So hyped for this. The animated series being cut short really hurt.

I don't really have the time or the money to keep up with the manga, so having movies to cover the highlights is rad.

Very easy, movie #1 will end with
the Zodd fight and him telling Guts to beware Griffith
. Movie 2
will end with Griffith getting captured by Midland
. Movie 3 will end with
the eclipse
.

Epic fucking troll if that's how it plays out. Most people wanted a new Berserk anime because they wanted to see what happens after the last episode.

Zood has a really good medieval design working for him, makes him somehow believable in a low fantasy setting. But the monkey-thing that Wyald becomes is just to fantastic.

So it's the design that's wrong? Too bad, there are even more fantastic designs in the series.
like the crystal dragon apostle

? That's exactly how it's going to play out. It's been confirmed to be a trilogy based off the Golden Age for days now.

And I'm glad cause if they adapted post-Golden Age stuff properly none of it would make sense for anime viewers since the original anime leaves out a lot of major characters.

As somebody who watched the anime series and loved it, but never read the manga, could somebody explain where/when this supposed arc is going to take place in the timeline in relation to the original anime?

Same arc but spread over three movies.

It's the same arc.

EDIT: Beaten.

Yeah. I know he supposed to look feminine but this is ridiculous:

No, that's about right for Griffith. He's always looked feminine.

Is this going to be censored in any way? If it's not going to be Berserk in all its glory, then on top of the 3d shit, I don't know if I want to bother.

This may not be the right thread but here goes:

Is there any way for me to start reading the manga on my iPad 2?

Legally of course.

the original anime for this worth watching??

Heard good things about the manga which, from multiple people, which I'm already checking out

So I watched all of the original anime many years ago. One of the few animes I like. is this like a retelling that is actually a full and complete story? hated how the original anime was not. Really wish they continued it and at least made a n original anime only ending like how they did with FMA. Heard the manga for this series is still going. Would read it but I can't get into manga at all.

EDIT: just realized I hate every anime made after 2000 bar like 3 titles after this year. I only like old anime :3

Yes, it's great.

Please make sure to post impressions of the last episode when you're done watching it

I remember watching it the first time and these last two episodes... I was like WTF, in a positive way ^^

Beserk has the distinct advantage in my life to not only be my favourite manga, but also have the best anime dub for a western release ever. On the release they added bloopers for some reason, so after each disc (of 4 episodes) you would get this 10 minute VA blooper reel. It was fantastic. From the VA that did Griffen (Sp?) that kept bursting into songs as the character started some long-esque monolog.

To Guts singing to Casca (before their love making)
" My love for you is like a truck BESERKER! "
(Need to go watch Clerks now)

God gonna go youtube it, to see if I can find it
fake edit: found it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stdY7NMWhLc

Come to think of it, anyone know of any other example like this?

I don't know if positive is the right word, but I was definitely speechless watching those last 2 episodes

No its pretty shitty, Made me skeptical about this series, it wasn't until i read the manga that i became a believer.

The anime pisses me off to no end. Ignoring that it removes Skullknight and Puck, it completely and unnecessarily condenses
the Eclipse
which happened for around an entire volume worth of material in the manga to around two episodes in the anime. I always hated that so much. It's supposed to be long

Two or so episodes was long enough, making it longer wouldn't have helped at all.

Making it longer would've helped giving it a proper conclusion to the arc, which is my biggest gripe with the anime

I agree that by not showing some stuff from the manga, the actually made the ending more powerful since you really don't see that shit coming

Removing the Skull Knight was dumb though, since he actually plays an important part during
the eclipse

Nah, the eclipse really didnt feel rushed in the anime. Two episodes was perfect. And it was an amazing finish, never did I feel such hopelessness and despair in a fictional story.

I don't think the eclipse was rushed, it was pretty much perfect because of what you point out. I just think the anime deserved at least 1 more episode starting just at the end of the eclipse stuff until the actual ending of the anime
at the blacksmith's
. That would have been much more satisfying while still being intriguing instead of leaving important things unexplained like
How did Guts got out of the eclipse's event?
and
what happened with Caska?

Holy shit!!! This and the Thing trailer on almost the same day, I'm in heaven!

I just wish the anime would start at the proper start of the manga
some time after the Eclipse
. Gut's all alone, bitter as hell, hopeless against the seemingly all powerful apostles. For me that was the best part of the manga. Bloody, gory, violent and bleak. Ever since Guts started making friends, and began to use the berserker armor the manga lost some of it's charm to me.

But I still love Schierke

so this is a remake of the anime? Why not just continue where it left off?
Because if they did that and followed the manga like they want too then there will be some characters that no one has any idea about. I say bring these movies on, especially if they are following the manga more closely.

Posts 120 to 125 were like my progression of excellent Berserk videos I found over the last decade.

As impressive as the last one is, Wonders At Your Feet is probably my favorite. Would love to have a high quality version of that saved somewhere.

Puck really doesn't do much in the Arc from the anime. Removing Skullknight was stupid though.

I think that what they were going for was to remove some of the more tertiary supernatural aspects to make the world more grounded, so that when you ran into
Zodd and the Eclipse
, they were much more shocking. If that was what they were striving for, they achieved it to great effect.
