For a moment there, I was afraid that the last Rebuild of Rva film would be out before the next Berserk collection. Thankfully, the heat death of the universe will now take place before either event will occur.

OMG WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

2015 YEAR OF DREAMS!!!!!

lmao hiatus and sporadic updates.

so nothing different? how close are they to having enough issues for a volume 38? just finished the entire run (of volumes, not issues) a few weeks ago.

They have enough content for volume 38 now. After the newest chapter that'll hit anytime now, that will make 10 chapters. The current pattern is 9 chapters per volume.

Over? I mean they just got off the
boat in the manga.

I'm more wondering... do they have enough material for a new anime so that they're not going to get
stuck on the boat?

Or is the season going to close out with them
sailing on the boat?

They have heaps of material to cover before they get on the boat.

And 'season'? This is likely going to be another movie trilogy. It seem quite a few people in here are just assuming this is going to be episodic and continue from the original anime - that's not happening.

I'd love to get into this series but honestly I cannot stand the fact that this guy seems to go on hiatus every other moth. I just hate reading unfinished stuff. Its tolerable when there's a steady drip feed of content but hiatuses really piss me off.

It's still worth it.

I just hope this comes out next year!

It's kinda funny though, that this anime has a chance of catching up to the manga, despite being like 25 years old.

It has no chance of doing that.

How the story development after Golden Age in the manga? I love the anime, and I've always been curious about the manga, but I'm scared that the story will dissolve into shit post Eclipse.

People who read the manga being excited for Post-Eclipse content animated should tell you what you need to know.

The consistacy in quality is solid as a rock. It's quite shocking how good it's been considering how long it's been going for to be honest.

Berserk is hands down the greatest ongoing piece of fiction at the moment - not just when it comes to manga too. It's glorious.

the thought of conviction arc animated makes me all hot and bothered.

just needs hirasawa making the soundtrack and anime saved.

Bersker ain't Berserk without Susumu Hirasawa.
Can't wait for a poorly animated cgi Farnese sitting by the fire place.
Of all the things to pick you go with this one? :^()

You know everyone is waiting for Farnese's guilt ridden bdsm to be animated.

I hate to put a damper on everyone's hopes and dreams, but this is probably a continuation of the recent OVA's. Although, a proper regularly syndicated anime show would be one of the greatest things to happen to me in a while, considering I'm just now starting to get back into anime after a long hiatus.

I noticed some peeps have provided Youtube links for the original '97 series' soundtrack, yet how is it that no one has included this gem?

Guts's theme is still one of my all-time favorites in anime.

That's one of my faves, actually it probably is my favorite from the anime. Still can't believe that's Guts' theme. I honestly just think of it as Griffiths, might be because Griffiths VA made up lyrics to it during the blooper reel.

Yeah, it is hard to believe that this is the melody they chose to represent Guts in the series, because on a superficial level it doesn't seem to match the characters bravado. Given Griffith's softer characteristics and visual charm, it does seem to be a better fit and it works extremely well when he's on the screen. However, when you contrast this song with some of the deeper emotional moments in the series in relation to Guts' never ending struggle with identity and purpose it's works even better. He's a flawed broken individual, and this song really captures the spirit of that character.

And that blooper reel was great.

I'm actually perfectly fine with it working for both of them. Both their narratives are pretty intertwined to be honest. You take one of them out of the equation from the others life and their life becomes completely different. Guts in a way is internally what Griffith is externally and vice versa. Griffith wanted to always exude the power and presence that Guts has. Once that was stolen from him he made god damn sure he'd get it back, and then some. Berserk really just seems to be about the clashing of two unbudging egos and watching the world around them change. Guts as a result got more human and Griffith commands a demon army while wearing essentially a skin suit while being a demonic angel of greed.
Stop thinking. :(
But it's one of my favorite scenes.

The team animating One Punch Man should do this now that we have to wait a couple of years for the second season.

All the yeses in the world to this comment. I just hope they keep the anime as brutal as the manga... but if they leave us on the god damn
boat
I will be so pissed.

It's great

I feel that it's great but also should tell folks that as the show progresses it gets less and less grim dark and turns more and more into a fantasy adventure with a party and stuff. Which is fine though.

Easily one of the best aspects of late Berserk is Guts' (manga spoiler)
relationship with his witch daughter figure

Berserk legit becomes a JRPG at that point. Guts and crew are just straight level grinding as far as I'm god damn concerned.
Haha had forgotten about religious looney Farnese. That freaking arc is some NC-17 shit
I liked Farnese for her demented fan service and stayed liking her for her actual character development. She practically becomes a different person.

Interesting take on the relationship of the two characters. Of course I see things a bit differently, and I'd gladly share my thoughts but it would be difficult to do so without spoiling some of the story here. Is there an official Berserk discussion to be found on this forum? I'd love to take part, if only the discussion hasn't moved beyond the '97 series. I fell off the wagon after first 3 volumes of the manga.

Dude there is a OT thread for the manga yes. You might want to go back to the manga and catch up though cause a lot of good stuff has happened. You can always PM me or Veelk to unload your Berserk opinions on though, I love talking about it.
they keep reloading the boat level and getting low level mobs. They'll never reach the level requirements at this rate.
They'll be fine, but if they need to fight Griffith and his apostles they need to eventually grind on some higher level enemies.

get them at Book Depository, they have all the volumes for almost free and you don't pay for delivery anywhere.

What? No, no, no. Instocktrades has them for 45% off. Just by way of illustration: I put 29 volumes in a cart in Book Depository, and it came out to $100 more than 34 volumes from IST.

Edit: Oh, I was beaten:

for a whole volume and free delivery, I think that is an awesome price.

Nope. Both places have free shipping (with purchases over $50 on IST), so the main difference is that one saves you ~$6.25 - $6.75 per volume and the other saves you $0.06 to $3.50 per volume. There's no good reason in terms of cost to buy Berserk from BD over IST.

The hiatus doesn't bother me, I've just assumed it's already been on hiatus the last 5 years and I'll read the next volume in a decade or so.

But pretty cool they're finally adapting something past the Golden Age.

Actually I just want to see Farnese and Serpico animated. Also
raephoarse

So this is going to be the boat anime?

That meme is over now. Nice try.

Not so fast now, guess what method they'd need to leave
Elf Island
?

Boat II: Boat Longer

WAT? They are not going to go that far into the manga. Not even close.

That is very true... If they end the anime with Guts
getting the Berserker Armor
I think that would be a nice stopping point. Wish they brought that PS2 game to the states it is a lot of fun and would expose more people to Berserk...

yo, I'm on board with this. It will be long, long boat ride, possibly everlasting
e: I see I'm late with the boat jokes. Guess I missed this ship

Caska becomes a pretty terrible "character" post-Golden Age.

Well I guess, but it's not like it isn't on purpose. Seeing her the way she is now only makes the reader want her to get healed that much more.

It's going to be such an emotional moment regardless of how Miura handles Casca being healed.

Like I already said, if this is another trilogy the obvious stopping point would be when
Griffith is re-born
if they care about the story and don't rush it again.

So yeah, them stoping it at the
Berserker Armor
is probably more likely. **sigh**

Show gets insanely grim dark right after the Golden Age the starts to get less and less dark as it goes.

Blackswordsman Arc + Conviction arc is Berserk at its darkest IMO.

As far as where the stopping point would be...
if they do the trilogy thing and they keep the pace from the original 3 movies then we will probably end with Gutts getting the armor maybe even later than that. But I would honestly want them to do some of the early pre-Golden Age chapters as well and really flesh out the story rather than rush it like last time.
