Best $20 (or less) you've spent this generation

Dude, I can't answer that. :P
Super Meat Boy, World of Goo and Bit.Trip.Runner are all in the running for favorite games of the generation. Not to mention Steam sales.

XBLA Indie Games. Have spent less then $20 and gotten hundred of hours of entertainment between Decimation X, Decimation X 3, the radian games ect

Also got mass effect 2 for like $10 and ME for $15

Fallout 3 GOTY Edition

And dozens of other games I've gotten super cheap on Steam sales.

If we're talking games that launched under $20, then Super Meat Boy.

Excluding XBLA and XBLIGs because everything is under $20, I'd say probably Mirror's Edge for £3. I might have spent a better $20, but I've certainly not spent so little on something so (mostly) excellent elsewhere.

I've bought Blue Dragon and Alan Wake for 10$ and enjoyed both of them. Can't think of any other games I spent that little on. I know there are a bunch of $20 games I've loved but can't think of all of them off the top of my head.

You can buy games for $20? Seriously $60 is what you find games on sale for here in Norway, normal price is roughly $100 aka 599 NOK.

Alltough I bought Angry Birds for iOS. That's a fine cheap game. And Cut the Rope.

Minecraft probably

Shadow Complex was amazing but less re-playability.

EDF 2017 was great.

I'm sure I am missing some crazy Steam deals.

Mass Effect 1 & 2.

Combined over 60 hours of goodness. Got them both during steam sales. Well worth the money.

One more for team Picross 3D!

My wife got me this for Christmas, and I've put more time into it than any other game since.

Does PC count?

Because I almost feel guilty for the amount of fun I'm having with games that I barely even payed for. I've played almost 40 hours of The Witcher since getting my PC a month ago, and it'll probably go down as one of my all-time fave RPG's and I only paid $5 for it. $5 freakin dollars, that's 1/6 of what I paid for the mega turd Fable 3 just last Fall. It really has shattered my perception of videogames and value. This also goes for STALKER: Shadows of Chernobyl which was like $2.50 and Mafia II @ $7.50.

On the console side, there are much less instances of this since I was always a day-one whore for the stuff I was really interested in, but a lot of XBLA/PSN games come to mind. I've probably played like 15 hours of Joe Danger and I only paid $7.50 for it, what an awesome fuckin game too. Same goes for Peggle, which is so good that it's priceless, I would pay millions and millions for it.

This kind of stuff makes me feel like an idiot for spending $60 on so many games that did nothing for me.

Wipeout HD, nothing comes close price-performance wise.
You're forgetting the "Hidden Cost of Gaming" including your 599 US DOLLAR PS3 and 3000 US DOLLAR 3D TV... and the HOUSE TO HOLD IT ALL!

But, yeah. Wipeout HD is the best $20 I've spent. Minecraft felt worth it too.
