Best 23" or 26" LCD TV for PS2 Gaming?

This is what I use for my PS2/PS3/Wii

My wife forced me to sell my 2 CRT TVs.. I have a 42" plasma, but with the black bars and burn in I want to buy a small LCD flat panel for PS2 gaming, no CRTs allowed b/c of wifey power.

Sony KDL-xx2000 (replacing xx with screen size 40-52 in inches) if you are in Europe, or KDL-46XBR3 or something for US. The guy is just showing off, those are only available form 40-52". If it is going to be just for PS2, and nothing else (ie no HD sources ever) get a 480p native panel, Samsung or Sharp will sort you out. I wouldn't recommend that though as you will eventually probably get HD consoles, right? In which case Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, Sharp, JVC panels are all very good pq wise, with the more expensive models generally getting appreciably better pq.

Nope, you can buy 32 inch XBR2/3s.

I'm mainly a PC gamers, so I just want a small LCD just for PS2 gaming under 30 inches. Please don't post your 30" above recommendations. :) I already have a 42 inch panny plasma.

If you really have no intention of owning a 360 or PS3 in the next few years, get an EDTV, not an LCD. They'll look nicer because LCDs have to do a lot of upscaling on SD/480p sources.

If you do want a 360 or PS3 in the future, find an LCD with a good scaler. Your 480p games will still look pretty good (better than on SDTV, at least, but not as clear as EDTV) and your 360/PS3 games will look fantastic.

You could also get a CRT, which handles every resolution as its naive, so it'll look just as good as an EDTV for 480p sources and a little better than an LCD for HD sources. But they're incredibly, incredibly hard to find and weigh a ton. The only ones they really sell anymore are the "slim" CRTs, and those have geometry issues.

edit: If you're just using it for PS2, yeah, get an EDTV, dude.

Well, at under 30 inches, you might as well just get a computer LCD monitor unless you plan to watch TV on it. If so, go with one of last years Sharp Aquos models. They are only 720p native though.

They have LCD EDTVs.
Er, right, my mistake. I usually think of plasma when I think of EDTV since that's mostly what they sell now. Replace "LCD" in my original post with "LCD HDTV", then.

I don't think MR Bravia here understands the lag and super jaggies that HDTV post processing does to last gen hardware.
There isn't any significant HDTV lag on newer models. I play rhythm games just fine. The jaggies aren't that bad either, if your TV has a good scaler. But yeah he's crazy to think an EDTV won't look better.

Actually, I am not sure if I would recommend an EDTV. Personally, I would go for an HDTV for future purposes, but I guess it depends on if you want to pick up a PS3 and X360 eventually or stick with the PS2 for a while.

And specific brand/models you guys recommend? I'm leaning toward Olevia 327V for $499 on NewEgg or Vizio V32XL for $599 at Costco or Samsung LN-S2338w for $550 at Costco.

You will see a lot of jaggies via HD TVs while playing PS2, especially big ones like 40 inch, but 23/26? i guess it's ok.

Both garbage brands. Stay away from those and Westinghouse.

Buy Sharp Aquos, Sony Bravia or Samsung if you are looking into LCD.

Vizios are NOT garbage. Not nearly as good as Sharps or Sonys, of course, but for the money they can't be beat.
