Best 3 / Worst 3 Call of Duty Campaigns

Or just best/worst if you must

Call of Duty campaigns are like junk food. They generally provide a cheap, easily digestible, forgettable, but briefly enjoyable experience that is ok when you don't have anything better on hand. So which of them are top tier, and which are not even worth the time to play them?
 
Modern Warfare and Advanced Warfare are definitely in the top. Black Ops 3 is the worst one I've played. Haven't even finished it.
 
Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and Black Ops are great.

Black Ops 2, Black Ops 3, and Ghosts are awful.

I don't really remember much from CoD 1 and 2.

Modern Warfare - Gold standard for the series
Call of Duty 2 - The original gold standard
Black Ops 1 - The numbers mason

Worst
Black Ops 3 - Convoluted boring mess
Ghosts - Self explanatory
Call of Duty 3 - Don't even remember what happened in this one

Black OpsII - You took away my Josefina
Black Ops - Dragovich, Kravchenko, Steiner they all must die Mason
Advanced Warfare - Mitchell I gave you that arm, mitchell i gave you a second chance, Mitchell..................

Ghosts - Boring/dull/ unimpressive sequences
Black Ops III - Boring/dull/ unimpressive sequences
World at War - Grenade Spam

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Modern Warfare 2
Black Ops II (might swap for the 1st COD depending on my mood)

Worst:
Ghosts
Call of Duty 3
Black Ops III

Of course my rankings would be completely different for multiplayer.

I feel weird putting 'Black Ops 3' down as one of the worst games, because I find the MP to be really fun. I think I was so disappointed with it was because I expected it to connect with the previous 'Black Ops' games, or at least make some sort of reference to them. Especially some of the characters.
 
Call of Duty 3's bad campaign really sucks, because the multiplayer was some of the best they ever made, and a lot of people didn't try it.

Since I can only remember Advanced Warfare out of all of them, I'd say Advanced Warfare is the best. Also the only CoD I ever replayed as it was that enjoyable. I guess MW2 was also nice, as I remember some levels, like the snow mobile one.

Black Ops 1 I actually had to stop playing halfway through it was that bad of an experience for me, which is rare for me. I hate levels that have infinite waves of enemies and you need to slowly work your way up/down/around, and Black Ops entire campaign seemed to revolve around that type of gameplay.

Never played Blops 2 or Blops 3.

BO3 had some forced references. The NOVA 6 (BO1) outbreak in Singapore. DEAD systems were do to Menendez hacking the drones and blowing up LA(BO2). And one character spazing out when another mentioned Menendez.

Yeah, I feel you. The special abilities in AW helped to break up the monotony of shoot-advance-repeat by giving you a little more flexibility on your approach
 
Haven't played MW3 or Blops 2 but have played all the others.

Best:
1. CoD4
2. CoD2
3. AW

Worst:
1. Black Ops 3
2. CoD3
3. Ghosts (I actually think it's OK though)
 
I can't make a list of bests/worsts, but I think I played World at War for a total of 5 minutes before putting back In the envelope and sending it back to GF.

Glad to see someone besides me who enjoyed the heck out of AW. But you really need to try BOII, pretty much the only COD game with a badass villian and brilliant narrative(David S Goyer the man who worked on the The Dark Knight Trilogy) and brilliantly done story cinematics along with player based story choices. Stark Departure from all things that made BOII so special, in BOIII

I loved world at war, maybe because it was my first ww2 shooter I din't have fatigue for the genre but man it was epic.

Glad to see so many people can agree on how bad the black ops 3 campaign was
 
I know a lot of people seem down on Ghosts, but you get to play as a dog! And it had that cool remote controlled turret sequence in the stadium. It just had the right amount of goofiness overall that I enjoyed it. It was certainly better than the, "oh gee, I wonder if Kevin Spacey is going to be a bad guy," lameness of AW.
 
Best: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and Black Ops.

Worst: Black Ops 3, Ghosts, Black Ops 2.

Playing through Modern Warfare 3 right now and it's actually not that bad. I remembered it as worse than it is.
1, 2, AW, and World at War in between those.

The plot and dialogue were next-level cringy in Ghosts though. Two bros being army dudes and the commander is their dad? In 'merica?
