Best arcade style PS1/PS2/PS3 stuff?

So, following up my PS3 recommendations topic I've wanted to make another one, though this time focusing on more arcade style titles. Whether they be direct arcade ports or just great pick up and play games. I already love the likes of Burnout, SSX, THPS, Ridge Racer, Tekken... but what else? Particularly on the PS1 I'm at a loss. Kinda wanted to play Virtua Fighter but not sure if I should go for 4 Evolution (which I haven't played ever) or 5 Final Showdown (have the first one). Any good shooters? Either first person, third person, or shmups? I'm sure there all their but the PlayStation library is generally foreign to me except the marquee titles and a few hidden gems I already enjoy like Gitaroo Man and Vib Ribbon (which, by the way, can you use MP3s or something on the PSN verison? Can you use actually music CDs?) The last thread had a lot of RPG or otherwise time sink recommendations and I've already been enthralled by Ni No Kuni and if I try playing multiple games like that at once I always drop them. So, how about some lighter games?

Sorry for the long post, trying to give some background.

Contra: Shattered Soldier and Gradius V on PS2

Strider 2 and Einhander on PS1

Time Crisis + the Gun Con on PS1 is good for your health.

I recently did a video on Moto Racer for the PS1: https://youtu.be/QS9Pv2SM0KU

I love these kinds of games! If it feels like something that could have been in an arcade, it's right up my alley. Moto Racer feels like a great arcade racer from the Daytona/Rodge Racer heyday. Check it out!

Ketsui, an actual arcade port. Shooter. Also on 360 but regionlocked.

Hm... I played Death Label on the DS, is this different? Surely it is but... not sure if I need any more Cave shooters right now.

Ketsui is the original and is an authentic stage-based shooting game whereas Death Label is a glorified boss rush with gimped versions of the bosses from the real game.

If you want simple pick-up-and-play stuff for PS1, you should definitely check out some of these:

Kula World / Roll Away
Kurushi / Intelligent Qube
Devil Dice
Super Puzzle Fighter II
No One Can Stop Mr Domino
PaRappa the Rapper
Point Blank
Overboard / Shipwreckers

Tons of stuff on the PS1.

Trap Gunner - Could've been an tight arcade game. Quick overhead trap and melee battles akin to intricate Bomberman matches.
Destrega - Projectile-based arena fighter similar to Power Stone. Ditto Psychic Force. Poy Poy.

Shmups aplenty - Rayforce, Zanac X Neo, Soukyugurentai, Salamander 2, all worth looking into.

Late-period budget games like Space Shot, Vanark, Shooter Starfighter Sanvein.

Early games like Assault Rigs, Loaded.

Can we expand the thread to include PSP titles?

I think there's so much stuff that it's difficult to boil it down to a handful of games!

So, the stuff that I have and enjoy:

- Virtua Fighter, either one PS2 or 3, all good games. Get 5FS if you want to play online.

- Afterburner Climax: balls to the walls action. Maybe the only game I ever played where shit is just too intense.

- Outurn 2; best arcade racer of the generaion, a really fun, easy, good looking game.

- On PS2, there's a remake of Panzer Dragoon. Chase it down if you like on-rail shooters. Otherwise your could try Rez, or Child of Eden on PS3.

- On PS2, there's a number of light gun games. My favourite is that Sega Vampire game. If you prefer House of the Dead, number 4 is out on PS3.

- Gradius V is out on PS2 and PS network I think. Made by Treasure. Needless to say, a crazy game, hard as nails, but really polished and fun.

Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost is a port of an arcade game and it's amazing. It's an arena fighter with pretty simple controls. Excellent game even if you're not into the franchise.

VF4 Evo. It is the series high point and the greatest fighting game ever made

Rez is a near religious experience if you can get your hands on a copy (that shit needs a goddamn Ps2 classic for Ps4 like yesterday)

Micro Maniacs is a great little racing game for the PS1. It's basically Micro Machines, but you play as freaks instead, who all have unique abilities.

In terms of shooters, the TimeSplitters series on PS2 is fantastic, although they become less arcade-y as the series progresses. As a pick up and play FPS nothing on console comes close in my opinion.

Finally, for PS3, any classic port by M2 is well worth picking up. Metal Slug 2 is probably one of the best ports of any game last gen.

50 cent blood on the sands has a score system
It is ancover based shooter and the visuals arent that appealing but the score system gives it an arcadey feel imo

PS1: Raiden DX, Raystorm, Raycrisis, R-Type Delta, Vib Ribbon
PS2: R-Type Final, Contra Shattered Soldier, Rez, Virtua Fighter 4 EVO, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, Maximo, Rygar the Legendary Adventure
PS3: Nucleus, Motorstorm 1 & 2, Wipeout HD, Under Defeat HD

Definitely some of the shooters, traditional and non.

Time Crisis
Point Blank
Darius
Einhander
Thunderforce V
Raystorm
Gradius
Raiden
R-Type
