Freeze tag, mofos!

(and occasionally, hide and go seek....but so many of us cheated by hiding inside of our houses, lol)

Heads Up, Seven Up suuuuuuucked. fuck that game.

Wall ball and dodgeball though, those were the best. I'm still game for dodgeball sometimes

Capture the flag was the ultimate game in elementary school PE.

It had strategic planning, feats of athleticism, and individual moments of heroism and sacrifice.

My elementary had a special lot where we could play SIX SQUARE. Large area with six nearby four square rings, that would be combined into one huge map of six square. Each ring separated by a free space where you could hit the ball. They looked like small islands.

Empires rose and fell in that six square lot.

Me and a friend invented a version of wall ball where we used soccer rules (can't touch the ball with your hands) and were allowed a certain number of "kick-ups" to control the ball before rallying it.

British Bulldogs.

Start with a small team of "bulldogs" in the middle of the field. Everyone else tries to cross the field without getting taken to the ground by the bulldogs; anyone who does joins them. The winner is the last one to not be a bulldog. Extra points if they make the last crossing solo.

It kept getting banned at school due to the injuries so we renamed it multiple times to stuff like African Lions. It was the best game.

This. Greatest game in the world - right amount of violence, speed and tactics.

I scarred my knee playing Capture the Flag in the snow. I ran over to a platform I thought was a piece of plywood, but it turns out it was a window. It shattered and fell forward on my right knee, slicing it cleanly. I got home, but my parents were out ,so I sat in the shower for an hour until it healed. I still have the scar.

Worth it.

Long defend and attack games played with a lot of people over very large areas - Kick the Can, Capture the Flag, Manhunt, etc. Best played at camp with hundreds of kids over a full day.

Hide and seek at night where everyone wore all black clothing. It would pretty much turn into "jump out and scare the shit out of the one that was it".

Grandmother's footsteps and British Bulldog were tops, yep. In footsteps there was always some funny bloke who pulled out his junk
