There are some tragic stories with books that directors don't dare to make yet. Gernika or La desbandá.

I've always wanted to know I watched a civil war movie ages ago and i can't remember what it was.

There was a scene in the movie where there was a bomb in the ground and a bunch of solders are on the bomb as it's exploding. The ground swells before it explodes.

Fun Fact*: if you take all the slow motion scenes in this movie & speed them up to natural speed, this movie is only 26 min long.

The scene with the young commander captured the futility of the American civil war like no other.

probably not. its more of a period piece in that instance. its been a long time since i've seen it, though, so i don't remember how much of it actually dealt with the civil war.

i think it does the same thing as The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly where it uses it as a backdrop.

A civil war movie where there's some kind of exterior intervention (or perhaps extraction ? ) , and the sequence has a very particular music ?

I dont know why but thought it was something composed by Mike Oldfield..but its not the case. Its a 80-90's movie.
