Best couch co-op games for PC?

With console games, co-op or local multiplayer games isn't very hard to find. However, I find that with PC, it's primarily focused on single player or online multiplayer.

Does anyone have any suggestions for local co-op games (4 players)? I have Castle Crashers, but what else is out there (or coming out soon)?

Nidhogg
Lego games
Street fighter IV
Rocket league
Grid 2

I have a list of co-op player games on steam, but not at the PC right now.

Another for Rocket League, also Goat Simulator

A couple of 2D reissue games like the Metal Slugs, Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. Not to mention a multitude of indie local coop games: in the Steam games browser, just sort by Local Co-op in the "Narrow by number of players" tab.

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition

Split screen co-op open world RPG (but top down like Don't Starve). Combat is turn based and the game is very sandboxy (similar to Skyrim - so you can slaughter villages). The game has this cool co-op conversation system that allows you to argue with your co-op partner in-game if you disagree with them on a choice (win by dice roll). You can also split up with your co-op partner and do quests separately. If you get arrested, your co-op partner can break you out (or you can find your own way). I haven't played the game so there's probably a bunch of stuff that I'm missing but it sounds awesome to me.

Diablo 3 is always a good choice too. Story is pretty shite but the game is just dumb fun.

Thought the title said best couch for co-op games. That might have some funny results.

Gang Beasts, Tower Fall, Streets of Rage 2, Injustice, Dive Kick, Sonic Transformed, Lara Croft

at this point it's almost on par with consoles so take your pick really

look for stuff on Steam, filled with cool local co-op / MP indie games specially

Plenty of good ones listed already , I will add Renegade Ops

But Duck Game is the real answer

At my son's recent birthday party with his friends I hooked the pc to the tv with four controllers

They did Towerfall for a bit and had fun but once we turned on Duck Game is was three hours of riot in my living room

Any of these

Special shout out to Lara Croft GoL

If you like games that are similar to the Metal Slug series, Mercenary Kings will be up your alley. It's one of my favourite co-op games to have come out in recent years, but it's often overlooked by the masses.

Jamestown is THE couch co-op bullet hell imo, has a power up that revives dead players so even if everyone is crap you can keep playing.

Much better system than other arcade / bullet hell shmups where the owner of the game is the only good player and others that are playing feel like crap because they're creditfeeding.

Other than that PC rocks at emulating older hardware, MAME (arcade emu) should be on everybodies HD imo. It'll give you lots of 4 player arcade games from Gauntlet to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Capcom's 2 Dungeon and Dragons Brawlers on Steam are 4 player BTW (2 games in 1 pack), not sure if it's 4 player local or a mix or local and online.

I was about to list my local co-op games, but then I read 4 players.
Other than Gauntlet, I really can't think of any other game right now.

Diablo 3 is always a good choice too. Story is pretty shite but the game is just dumb fun.

Unfortunately, Diablo 3 on PC doesn't support local co-op.

Trackmania. I know 2 supports it, but I believe it's available in other titles in the series as well. Oh, and I don't think anyone has said Worms yet. There's an obvious one.

You made me think this was already out, boo

  • Double Dragon Neon
  • Rocket League
  • Portal 2
  • Gang Beasts
  • Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
  • Broforce
  • Battleblock Theatre
  • Final Exam
  • Mount Your Friends
  • Trine 3 + 2 + 1
  • Gauntlet
  • Any of the LEGO games

  • Worms Revolution
  • Risk of Rain
  • Dungeon Defenders
  • Resident Evil 5 (requires a mod)
  • Spelunky
  • Metal Slug games
  • Lethal League
  • Monaco
  • Samurai Gunn

Just off the top of my head

We've played these:

Many of those are pretty awesome, but I can in particular suggest Chariot and ibb & obb as recent gems which have flown under the radar as far as I can tell. Note that both are not easy, especially if you want to get all collectibles.

Hidden in plain sight - racemode

No other game is as noobfriendly and enjoyable, even for non-console/controller gamers.

Game does requier 4x controllers but is oh sooooo worth it!

Burnout paradise party mode (q controller needed)

Resident Evil 5 for sure. Still probably my favorite co-op experience.

You need a mod but it runs flawlessly with.

Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior's Rise is the best game no one has played. It's pretty much a Donnie Yen simulator, and it's only 3 buttons so it's super accessible. Oh and it's hard as shit, like reading inputs hard, and the co-op is even worse with boss's moves getting augmented to handle two players at once. Great fucking game.

Exactly, i had a lot of troubles trying to defeat the final bosses lol It's hard as fuck and it seems that no one cares about it, even in Steam sales. It's a shame, such awesome game. Also, the devs are chinese, if I remember right, a rarity on Steam. Fantastic game, i need to re-play this gem soon

This sounded intriguing, so I opened Steam to put it on my wishlist.

"Already in your Library"

Just another Steam day.
(I put it in my "local coop" category)

It came out the same day as Mark of the Ninja on the Xbox Arcade, and got pulled like a week later. I accidently bought it thinking it was Mark of the Ninja, now I'm glad I did. Snatched it up on steam when I got a new laptop. Game doesn't deserve it's fate.
