Plus the 30 minutes before, and the hour after.

It's from 2014 tho.

Wow great choices in this thread.

Did NOT expect to see the Sicario scene mentioned so many times. It was masterfully directed. Just the way the tension builds up and then builds up some more. Something even spielberg would be proud of.

Mad Max's storm scene was spectacular as well.

Steve Jobs and his CEO going at each other while flashbacks of them going at each other in the past are edited-in in the same scene. just incredible.

Kingsman Church scene.

Whiplash final scene is probably one of the greatest endings ever in a movie, but it came out last year.

Man I just don't get all the love for the church scene in Kingsman. There's almost no real build up to it and all the punches and gunshots feel so weightless. Kickass had similar issues with the fight scenes but I actually liked the characters so I just rolled with it. Like, Hitgirl taking out a bunch of thugs who kidnapped and murdered her dad is so much more satisfying than seeing Colin firth taking out a bunch of innocent people who are basically just victims of some brainwashing scheme by the movie's villain.

Umm... If Whiplash came out in your country in 2015, it isn't even a contest.

That movie shits all over anything that has come out this year.

That whole fight was stupidly over-the-top and nonsensical, and the Rex coming in was one of out the (literally?) hundreds of times that film tried desperately to bludgeon audiences over the head with nostalgia to make it seem less shitty than it was.

I'm honestly sorry, but I really, really hate that movie. It shot my dog.
I agree with this so hard. Terrible, terrible movie. It made The Lost World look Oscar worthy.

I can't really think of my favorite scene. It would have to be something from Mad Max.

That whole fight was stupidly over-the-top and nonsensical

Are these supposed to be bad things? Because that's exactly why I love that scene. I was laughing the entire time. It was the stupidest, most over-the-top scene in a movie this year, probably one of the stupidest, most over-the-top scenes in any movie ever, and it was wonderful.

Most of Mad Max comes to mind, for me.

And the plane scene at the start of MI 5 is god tier.

The frustrated teacher scene in whiplash

Sandstorm in Mad Max

Rocky's sad locker room talk

The foot shuffle in the opening moments of the final fight in raid 2

Mad Max and Ex Machina were the two movies this year that stayed the most with me (I also didn't see nearly as many movies as I wanted). Both have several scenes I love to go back to on the regular, I could never point out a single one.

Those two movies stayed with me the most too. I turned around and re-watched both after finishing them and I almost never do that.

I got the Blu-ray as a Hanukkah gift and my wife and I watched it last night (she hadn't seen it before). When this exact moment happened, she let out an audible "HOLY SHIT." Everything about that movie is gorgeous, but I think I'd pick the sandstorm as the most visually striking. Seeing as how that's already been posted a few times, how about this one:

MAD MAX THREAD

Yeah, that's just unbeatable.

Most of the standouts from what I've seen in theaters this year have been mentioned: Dance scene in Ex Machina, convoy in Sicario, everything in Mad Max, the sad scene in Inside Out.

Even though Spotlight is one of the best I've seen this year, I don't think I could pick out an individual scene. They're all good, but very understated and work as a cohesive whole.

I hate myself for missing out on Jobs and for 99 Homes never opening near to me. Guess I'll catch on Blu ray.

They were both great on the big screen but they're not movies that demand to be seen in that format--they'll be awesome in your living room also, and the electrifying performances will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Dance Scene from Ex Machina is definitely my favorite. Such a perfect tone-setter and character builder for the characters involved.

Steve Jobs: Jobs and Sculley present time and flashback shouting at each other intertwined. Damn impressive writing and acting,

Yes, glad this was mentioned. Steve Jobs is probably my favorite movie of the year and that scene is a big part of it.

  • The Mad Max canyon chase with the bikes. Just stellar choreography and music.
  • Kingman church scene, which is a glorious orgy of lovingly-filmed violence.
  • Beasts of No Nation scene where they're just about to assault the city. I love the moment when the main character looks at the other soldiers and sees them as monsters.
  • Creed second fight and the moment when the Rocky theme plays in the movie.
  • John Wick nightclub shootout. Just solid action with no frills.

Yeah I have the mad max scene when he's being chased in the citadel, brothers in arms scene and fuuuck like a bunch of others from the movie

And the second fight in creed, rocky at the doctor and....
Ricky Conlan's fight entrance in Creed.

Alejandro at the dinner table in sicario

Beasts of no nation "we're going to take that fucking bridge"
