Best game of show based purely on gameplay?

Splatoon easy. Mechanics so fresh and neat. Just about everything else has been realized before in some way, but I've never seen Splatoon's movement mechanics in anything before, tho feel free to ink me if wrong

It feels like an evolution of what TAG and Portal 2 were doing, taking things in a much more interesting direction.

No Man's Sky.... looks so god damn amazing how you can go from planet to planet. Hope there will be some way to fast travel to your friend's planets.

Also just my opinion but Splatoon looks frustrating as hell. Yes its got new mechanics, but slowing you down in other people's paint just doesn't look like fun for people who are not good at the game and losing. I am terrible at FPS so for me I'll just get stuck endlessly and won't have any fun. Gives the winner way too much of an advantage. But at least good on them for trying to come up with something new for FPS. EDIT: ok not FPS but that death match multiplayer free for all type game.

Elite Dangerous.

GAF needs to stop sleeping on this game, it's incredible.

Yeah this. That 15 minute Gamespot vid was absurd. I'm not the historically biggest fan of the Elite series but they are really onto something special with Dangerous.

Honorable mention to Dragon Age: Inquisition-the Dragon fight they were showing off looked fantastic.

Splatoon. The mechanics are easily the most ingenious thing on display this E3. The single mode they had on offer was extremely barebones as well, yet still holds up. Can't wait to see what else they add.

Followed by S.T.E.A.M. because I need more Valkyria Chronicles in my life.

It's less focus on kill streaks and more on area control. You're going to be constantly shooting everything around and in front of you, maintaining territory and keeping your opponents from taking it from you. It seems pretty balanced from all the video I've been watching.

Splatoon. It looks simple enough to pick up and play, yet deep enough for skill and strategy. It's also novel. Could be the next great party game.

Is day 0 the only thing you watched? Not only was their gameplay but there was a playable demo.

Which we personally saw fuck all of apart from that nice ass less than a minute or something clip.

Plus the game at that state seemed have frame rate issue. It's not exactly what I'd consider based on what's actually shown a contender for best gameplay of the show.

Not when the Bayonetta 2 demo exists.

Wow @ all the Splatoon, but since you guys didn't actually play it.

It's easily Evolve. I always see about a hundred people hanging around the Evolve booth watching the competition going on. I saw the E3 championship match going on where the Kraken player almost killed everyone for the win as the last player was down, but the dog pet thing was still up (needs to be killed for the win), and the turrets finished off the boss.

Everyone was cheering, gasping, and amazed the whole time. It was so intense.

I personally had a great time playing LBP3 a dozen times with different people. The new characters really add a lot to the coop. So many funny moments that I had.

Splatoon did look great I agree.

People already named all the best ones but yeah Evolve & Smash also looked crazy fun.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare or Assassins Creed Unity. I know I know.. both AAA cash-cows, but for me I haven't been interested in either series since they started on the 7th generation hardware; and now both games in their series have interested me again from the gameplay I've seen at e3.

For me, it's the reason I hopped on the next-fen train in the first place: Arkham Knight. Admittedly, I was skeptical when I heard they'd include the Batmobile. Not only is the design a perfect mix of old and new inspirations, but the way it fit within the open world appeared well thought out and not forced at all. Looks like a blast to drive that thing around.

Oh, and of course that 200 ft. vertical dive did it for me too.

My heart wants to say Xenoblade, but honestly a lot of what was shown was very basic and intro-ish.

My vote goes to Splatoon.

Reason, the core mechanics are brillant. The territory based winning conditions/movement is faster through own territory/weighing options between killing enemies or inking everywhere you see. It's just a brilliant concept.

Also, camping isn't as effective in this game as other shooters because you may be just wasting time while territory is being spread. It's a game where you have to constantly make decisions and change up your playstyle.

Some other things I'd like to mention are the movement options and verticality. I like the idea of more verticality in a shooter akin to Titanfall, it was one of the main reasons I was kind of interested in it. Shooting ink on walls lets you climb up or hide in the walls, and the idea that one person sets up a "trail" for other to speed through is a really neat strategy that reminds me of the water slide of Super Mario Sunshine.

Another thing, gamepad integration might not be the most clever use of the hardware, but it may be the most influential in terms of how it shapes the game flow in something like this, you always have real-time feedback of how much ground you have covered/are covering and where your teamates and enemies are. That's something absolutely essential to a game such as this. The "Super Jump" aspect of the game makes it so that you don't have to dash or slowly make your way to where the action is but instantly leap back into the fray after respawn. Could these be done on one screen? Possibly, but would it work as well and as intuitively as the gamepad could thus providing a better flow? Probably not.

As soon as I saw Splatoon, I thought it could be one of the WiiU's if not the generation's most defining titles. And if I'm hearing these impressions right it just as may be. Just very solid design and gameplay concept overall. Again, this just based on gameplay that we saw so far.

Splatoon, easy. Takes the shooter genre and makes it fresh and interesting. The mechanics of movement and territory control opens up for some interesting game play.

We saw a glimpse that was (allegedly, not that I doubt Aonuma) rendered with the in-game gameplay engine, but that hardly gives us any sort of information about the game itself. We have no idea how it plays or what the mechanics are, and to assume "it's zelda we don't need that information" would rob the other games that actually fully presented themselves. Zelda U, Uncharted 4, Scalebound etc. are illegitimate answers in regards to this thread.
CG or non-CG is completely irrelevant.
y-you probably shouldve clicked the spoiler to see the punchline revealing that was sarcasm.

Splatoon!

I'm really surprised (and happy!) to see all of the Splatoon mentions. I hope it sells well so that the Multiplayer isn't DoA.

I really can't decide. There were so so many games that lookd incredible that if I picked one I would be unfair to quite a few of them.

I'm all about Sunset Overdrive, but Splatoon, Arkham Knight and No Man's Sky are all looking fantastic in the gameplay department.
