Well it obviously depends on what you are going to use it for.

Take a look at this (also includes models that will launch in 2015):

I myself use a D54250WYKH as my desktop machine. I'm very happy with it.

Really depends on your use case. I have an ECS Liva for my living room, very light-use emulation machine and media center.

Also have a Gigabyte Brix Projector that's in use as a workstation that i bring along for presentations.

Every now and then I look at these as a possible plex server/HTPC. But once you've added OS/RAMS/HDD, you're at Mac mini prices

Once the i3s start getting a bit older and cheaper I might grab a couple for around the house, but for now they're too expensive

Are any of them suitable for use as a Steam in home streaming client? Does anyone have any personal experience using them as a Steam steaming client?

How? RAM and HDD are about $100 total. With a $150 NUC that's only $250. Even a $250 NUC makes it $350. Mac Mini starts at $600 doesn't it?

Yes. My NUC (the D54250WYK) in my bedroom has Win 8.1 on it and is used for Steam IHS and XBMC/Kodi. The Steam streaming works great; I'm getting 1080p60 performance for most games with very little lag. This is over powerline. Streaming from a Win 7 host (i5-4670k and GTX 760 - to be replaced with a GTX 970 soon).

But that one isn't under $150, the Zotac i listed is, and should be good for HTPC use.
