Yeah Less than Jake kicks ass in concert, especially when they come back home to Gainesville.

But my personal favorite concert is definitely Bad Religion. They tore down the little club they played here in Jacksonville, the atmosphere was electric and they barely even paused between songs, just kept riding the energy.

Of the eight times I've seen them, seven have been in Gainesville. The put on the most fucking insane show in G-ville Rock City.

In order:

1) Dredg
2) Trivium
3) The Fall of Troy
4) A Perfect Circle
5) System of a Down

speaking of Dredg, I'm leaving to go see them in 10 minutes :D

Roughly a 2.5 hour drive. Doors are at 5.

But Coheed and Cambria are headlining....the amount of douchebags that are gonna be there is gonna be incredible =(

Ween. Take their awesome studio output, take the energy up about 10 notches, fill a room with 2000 sweaty people who fucking love the band, and then let them loose for 2½ hours. They're just completely unreal. Driving to Omaha in two months to see them again.

The Wrens are always really, really good. Sonic Youth was awesome, but I'd like to hear more older stuff live, but that's my fault for getting into them so late. Okkervil River always puts on an amazing set. Last time I saw them they played "Westfall" and Will played a solo accoustic version of "A Promise," I was in heaven. Saw Xiu Xiu again two weeks ago, this time it was Jamie + Caralee, shit was intense. Dressy Bessy always brings the house down... Yeah. I dunno, I don't think I've been to too many bad shows. Dashboard opening for Beck made me want to stab myself to death though.

Radiohead in Vancouver on their Kid A/Amnesiac tour. They played 3 un-recorded songs.

Death From Above 1979 at the Grad Club in Kingston, Ontario last year. It's a tiny bar with no stage, so they played on the floor and the room could probably hold 50 people. This for the loudest band I've ever heard. It was great.

It's tough to pick one. I'll just list some of the best.

Radiohead
Wilco
Flaming Lips
Mogwai
My Morning Jacket
Pixies
Dismemberment Plan
Walkmen

My favorite show ever was the first Lips show I went to, on the Soft Bulletin tour. For sheer technical precision and awesomeness, you can't top My Morning Jacket. Mogwai puts on the loudest, most mind-blowing shows. Wilco is the most dynamic live band I've seen. The Pixies and Radiohead just fuckin' rock. D-Plan were another technically awesome band. Walkmen are really powerful. Yeah, that's about it.

I'm seeing Sigur Ros this week, and I hope I can put them up there.

NIN - I'm not even a big fan but the show was amazing.

Radiohead - Seen them four times, not a single moment a didn't enjoy.

Eels - The two best concerts I've been to were Eels concerts.
Kind of depends on where they are playing though. They sucked at festivals.
Going to go to another Eels concert this tuesday in 013, Tilburg, The Netherlands

British Sea Power are incredible live. Their new album is pretty ho-hum, but man did they ever play their shit loud. My ears were ringing for days, and I think I'm suffering to this day because of it. Whatever, though. The way those guys were performing on stage sort of made everything worth it. "Lately," all 10 minutes of it, was fucking excellent. They were jumping on their amps, swinging from the venue's rafters, and hitting themselves with their stuffed animals. Totally great.

Tie between Metallica, Megadeth, and Something Corporate. Metallica definitely has the edge though. Seeing kirk hammett go nuts on the guitar solos during One and Master of Puppets was mind blowing.

Saw Godsmack when they opened for Metallica, but wasn't too into it. Saw weezer and foo fighters the other night, weezer rocked the house, foo's stuff sounded too similar.

Radiohead -- April 5th, 1998. Paramount Theater. Seattle, WA.

Note: Spiritualized opened and did their best at sonically fucking the crowd.

I get to see Bright Eyes in about two weeks. I'm sure that's going to be my best show up to this point.

I would probably say Jimmy Eat World for best show so far, followed closely by Modest Mouse.

Pray for a sober Conor Oberst. Drunk Conor is entertaining, but not if you want to hear music.

Oh man which ones are on my list.

Jason Collett/Stars/Broken Social Scene at the Crocodile Cafe, Seattle
This show was amazing. It was just 15 people changing instruments all night. Played an awesome show in a very small venue.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead at NeumoÂ’s, Seattle
This was right before World's Apart came out. It was an awesome show, because they played songs from World's which I really like. The double drums were just amazing to see how well they worked. Loud as all hell too.

The Beta Band at The Showbox, Seattle
This was one of the best shows easy. No opening act, just Beta Band the entire thing. The DJ came out and started mixing down the Imperial March from Star Wars. They showed various movies while playing. It was an awesome show. Closed with a reggae/hiphop version of 'One'. It was badass!!

The Beta Band/Radiohead at Thunderbird Stadium, Vancouver
Great show. Beta Band opened, which they got booed. Radiohead put on a great show.

Grandaddy/Coldplay at Benaroya Hall
This was a cool show. This was right when Coldplay got big, so they were still mostly doing accoustic stuff, and it was in a great theatre. Grandaddy was very cool as well. First and last time I got to see Elliot Smith as well, he came out and sang with Grandaddy on some songs.

Seriously. Their performance at the Toronto show put me off them forever.

For me, it's a tie between Rockapella, who are absolutely AMAZING in concert, and Chocago, who are absolutely AMAZING in concert. Very difficult choice here.

I saw Spiritualized a while ago, because BRMC opened for them. It was kinda boring...

Spiritualized was incredible at Bumbershoot 1997, but at the Paramount, they rivaled The Dears for loudest band of all time. People's ears were bleeding for months.

The BSS/Stars/Jason Collett show at the Crocodile was incredible, but nowhere near Radiohead at the Paramount.

Man, I'm thinking he's going to be fucking ripped when he plays in Fargo. I hope not. :(

The Raveonettes get that prize. When they did the Croc while supporting Whip It On. Loudest band ever, majority of which was feedback. My ears were bleeding for months.

When Conor toured with M Ward and Jim James, he was so blitzed at the Moore Theatre here in Seattle that he pretty much screamed "MONSTERS OF FOLK!!" for a good two hours.

With that said, I'm still looking forward to his return to the Moore Theatre on November 4th.

Even though I'm not that into them, I gotta say Radiohead put on a spectacular show when I saw them a few years ago. Other bands:

Melt Banana
Golgol Bordello
The Gossip

Too many to count, but some of the bands that stand above the others I've seen would be:

Pink Floyd-Division Bell Tour at OSU

Genesis-Duke Tour at Riverfront Coliseum

Iron Maiden-Powerslave Tour at Hara Arena

Rush-Moving Pictures Tour at Hara Arena

Eagles-Hotel California Tour at Riverfront Stadium

Bob Dylan / Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers -- PNC Bank Arts Center in Jersey. Petty was amazing

Iron Maiden w/ Dio and Motorhead -- Madison Square Garden. Motorhead was the loudest band and they were the first to play. They're in the Guiness book as the loudest band on earth actually.

*the new* Guns N' Roses - MSG (not the GNR of old, but an amazing show, and anyone who went can't disagree). The openers sucked though.

I didn't know Motorhead knocked off the Who on that position. Lame.

I've probably seen 500 shows including the Ramones, Misfits, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Grateful Dead and so on, but easily the most entertaining was, go figure, The Dictators. Wild party atmosphere at all their shows.

Do it

you won't be dissapointed

I flew to seattle just to see them and felt that it was totally worth it.

Oasis was horrible live. I used to be a fan until after that show. Travis, the opener for that show, fucking owned them.

Rilo Kiley is amazing live.

Mine have both been Aussie acts. John Butler Trio & Hoodoo Gurus.

John Butler Trio has been the only band I've seen that has sounded better live than on CD. And Hoodoo Gurus were every bit as good as any of their albums. Both I've seen mutliple times, and they were great every time and not some freak one off preformance.

Man, those NIN praises are just tempting me to go scalp a ticket to tonites show in LA.

NIN are easily the best live band i've ever seen. i saw them back in 2000 at the sydney and perth big day outs and was so determined to catch them at a 'real' show that i flew to london from perth earlier this year and saw them at the 13th/14th july brixton shows. worth every cent :D

another awesome live artist is bjork - saw her under the stars @ belvoir ampitheatre in 1995. great show

So not only have you seen the Pumpkins like 15 times, but you saw a Radiohead show with probably the most ideal setlist a hardcore fan would want. That show definitely owns the one I caught in Ohio:

01 sit down. stand up
02 morning bell
03 lucky
04 myxomatosis
05 kid a
06 backdrifts
07 there there (Thom: "this is one for when you... feel like you're gonna grow into a tree")
08 where i end and you begin
09 go to sleep
10 paranoid android
11 sail to the moon
12 a punch-up at a wedding
13 2+2=5
14 idioteque (Right be fore the last couple lines, when Colin comes in with the keyboard again, he couldnt find the beat and he came in in the wrong spot, so thom stopped his eratic dancing and went over to Colin and cut him and the rest of the band off, then picked up his mic and
finished the song acapella.)
15 exit music
16 the national anthem

Encore #1:
17 a wolf at the door
18 dollars and cents
19 no surprises
20 the bends
21 the gloaming

Encore #2:
22 street spirit
23 everything in its right place ("This is a song for the good days")

It also didn't help that Jonny Greenwood totally fucked up the beginning of his solo in Paranoid Android. That's like one of the best moments in the song that I wanted to see live for YEARS.

Your luck with concerts never fails to amaze me. Bastard. :(

pssssh, the Toronto show had a better setlist. :P

12-04-1998: Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Canada [with: Spiritualized]
setlist: meeting in the aisle
airbag
karma police
the bends
exit music
climbing up the walls
just
subterranean homesick alien
lucky
my iron lung
planet telex
no surprises
lurgee
the trickster
talk show host
bones
paranoid android
street spirit
how to disappear completely and never be found
fake plastic trees
pearly
the tourist
