I always thought Little Nemo: The Dream Master had great graphics. They were amazingly colorful and the characters had awesome design, especially the cigar-smoking gorilla!

I played that game so many times when I was a kid. I could never beat it though because it was surprisingly hard. I'll have to bust it out someday to see if it's still a challenge.

Interestingly enough, the 80386 is in the same chip family as the 8086 and uses a compatible (expanded) instruction set.

I meant that it was interesting with respect to game consoles. The only comparisons I can think of in that realm are the GB -> GBC, GBA -> DS and GC -> Wii.

Was Diablo 1 8-bit? (256 colors).

Anything 256 colors should be considered.

Since '8-bit' hasn't been defined in this thread; then I suppose the above 8-bit colour definition can apply!

A common definition would be the number of 'bits' the GPRs (General Purpose Registers) can hold within the CPU... but "8-bit" is very vague and not very meaningful to compare architectures with custom chipsets...

Also "best" hasn't been defined; so there'll be plenty of variety between 'static' screens and 'dynamic' vids...

You guys should play more Master System games.

I refuse to believe those are produced on an 8bit system. That isn't an 8bit colour pallet for a start. It has to be 16bit.
