There's something about a well shot movie that often enthrals me more than a story or character ever could, so let's have a thread about movies that just look fucking amazing.

Barry Lyndon:

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford:

Days of Heaven:

Stalker:

In the Mood for Love:

Harakiri:

There's so many, but I'll leave it at that for now. Post your favourites, GAF.

Subscribed for the nice pictures (which I'm rubbish at adding).

Would like to see some Blade Runner and Lawrence of Arabia. Tree of Life was also pretty damn gorgeous. The Fountain too.

Definitely Barry Lyndon. The period accurate mise en scene combined with the lush and often painterly cinematography make it an absolute delight to the eyes.

Gone with the Wind. I watched it a few months ago on my new HDTV with smooth motion and was blown away. For a movie 100 years old it looks better than 90% of movies filmed just 10 years ago.

The Third Man I think has an amazing visual style. It seems to involve a lot of spirals, arches, and circles. And that zither music to go with it is quite interesting.

Also, I love the look of The Assassination of Jesse James. The shots through the imperfect glass in particular do something for me.

Lawrence of Arabia.

Only movie in our cinema that truly captured what a desert is, and all that it entails. I hope theres a class in film school that just focuses on Lawrence of Arabia and it's photography.

The scene where Lawrence walks on top of the Turkish train, while the natives below are celebrating. Chills.

It's a damn shame they couldn't get him back for Spectre, Skyfall looked simply amazing at times.

It's not something I find that disheartening considering Hoyte Van Hoytema is replacing him for Spectre:

Interstellar is a fucking sublime looking film and the first I've seen to use IMAX cameras as GoPros.

Hoyte van Hoytema who did the cinematography for "Interstellar" is filling in, so I have faith that he can make something that visually looks at the very least better looking than "Quantum of Solace"
