Best Microsoft IP currently collecting dust in the closet

Which IP deserves to be brought back (or sold off and then brought back) the most?

I have no respect for people who make a list like this and forget the greatest fighting game from last gen.

Easy to forget because fighting games suck

God I miss Prototype, at least the first one. One of the few Activision IPs worth a damn imo. Bring back the real Alex Mercer, place him in a new city, and I'll be happy.

I know they bought majority of those IPs... very few of them I consider "Xbox" games

Id rather they tried to get their 3rd party exclusives from the OG and 360 and work with those

a modern soldier of fortune would be really good, the first 2 were quite good for their time, with modern hardware they cold be very nice, for gun porn guys maybe too controversial now though.

The thread title should probably be "Which PC exclusive IP", given the list of games to be fair. There will be quite a few xbox kids who don't know half those games.
Yeah, most of these are IP that Activision were also ignoring before they got bought. The thing about Xbox though is they only have like 4 or so IP that I would consider core to their brand, and they're kindasorta still making games for all of them, even if it is insanely slowly (Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza...).

I do feel bad for forgetting Project Gotham Racing and Killer Instinct though lol. Too busy thinking about Sierra games.

SWAT. And it should stay dead, they'll just turn it into an arcade shooter or COD , just like how Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon were ruined.

Oh yeah, I forgot Microsoft owns Blizzard now.

They could do something about the Starcraft RTS IP, if they gave it to another studio besides modern Blizzard.

Also.. Rise of Nations.

Ghost recon Breakpoint is one hell of a game after 2 years of patching

Never knew that Sierra's old catalog belongs to MS.

We already have Ready or Not so a Police Quest mixing elements of adventure, investigation and tactical police procedure would be a very interesting concept. But considering that the Police in general isn't a hot topic right now...

Combat flight simulator using the tech of FS2024/2020. (We definitely need more "arcadey" flight sim)

A Freelancer with single player focus... (Open ended single player. Since we already have Elite, Star citizen on the MP front etc.)

And if you consider Blizzard, Bethesda etc.
Warcraft 4 and a new Cthulhu Quake.

Anyway, almost all of these are next to impossible to happen.

Man, imagine if they teamed up with Larian to do a new Arcanum? Its sad that they will never have a thought like that even in a million years

One of the other things about Arcanum is that it's supposed to be a fantasy Victorian setting. That doesn't really come across super well in the original, but a sequel could have all kinds of cool Victorian clothes for your character to wear, and Victorian environments. People love those aesthetics in Bloodborne, and they would as well in an Arcanum sequel imo.

That's a bunch of garbage, outside of Lost Odyssey. Which I don't even consider a franchise, just a single stand-alone JRPG.

I think a new Starcraft game is supposed to be in development? I was really tempted to put Warcraft on the list, though lol

I feel like single player games set in the Warcraft and StarCraft universes would be dope.

Warcraft would make a great open world RPG. StarCraft would be a great stry driven action game. I would make it an FPS with RPG elements and I'd throw in spaceship combat for shits and giggles.

Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey. Two great games that need a comeback.
These two along with panzer dragoon and infinite undiscovery and some others make owning a newer xbox worth it for the backward compatibility. Those games on an Xbox one X still rock and dont look bad given that 2/3 of the games now all look meh and "retro" or "indie" anyway.

The Sierra games were hands down my favourite games. That said, I do not want them brought back. They would be modernized and lose all charm.

It also needs to be noted that Microsoft owns the digital/video game rights to the Shadowrun IP.

There's absolutely nothing stopping them from using one of their RPG studio to create a bid budget, blockbuster, urban fantasy RPG using the Shadowrun IP.

ok, unironically tho,
they should make a Wizards & Warriors 2D metroidvania...

but I am actually not sure if they even own the IP, given that it was punished by Acclaim, and their IPs got scattered around after they went out of business

While there's several on here that would be cool, I would definitely choose Crimson Skies. There's so few arcade style flying games, and with new technology it could be so good.

Wait...Microsoft owns SWAT? I'm assuming that also includes the Police Quest IP alongside it.

I played so much Police Quest SWAT 2 back in the day, and SWAT 3/4 are masterpieces but especially SWAT 4 so the answer is 100% SWAT alongside Lost Odyssey which IMO is up there with the all time great JRPGs.

I think Ready or Not's success proves that SWAT could be a success now as it's SWAT in all but name.

I would also love to say Blue Dragon but I tried replaying that game a couple years ago and I think that game lives off of Toriyama's art and I think the game itself is pretty mediocre.
