Best mod so far! (IMHO) GTA4 FPS mod

The scale is ridiculous.

Seriously. This looks like a completely different and more personal experience. The world seems much more alive at eye level. This needs to be a legitimate feature in the next GTA.

I doubt my mbp could run this. Has anyone other than Epic mirrored their pc mod support for the PS3?

NOT.DIFFICULT.

and i cant say this enough since some boneheads cant read:
IT WORKS WITH LATEST PATCH
Yes, what kind of idiot couldn't work out how to do that without instructions?

Liberty City is seriously amazing.

Just by simply making the camera first person, the game seems much better, has a bigger scale and is much more alive and immersive.

Wow, much more amazing than I thought it would be. The sense of scale in times square is fantastic. Dragging the dude out of the car as well. Interesting...Hmm, How much is the PC version on steam again? :lol

i hate myself for missing gta 4 yesterday. that video looks incredible.

it was $7.50 yesterday. the rockstar package is around $42 bucks. $12 more than gta 4

-try setting up a heat style firefight on a busy street. its pretty great.

-try turning right fast when Nico is on the phone, you can see the caller id displayed on the screen

-try running on the rooftops, very mirrors edge

-try and land a helo in the prision and fight the cops hand to hand, very butcher bay

ok, so here is how to install it

1)http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=390582
put it in your GTA root directory. DO NOT MAKE SCRIPTS DIRECTORY.
2)Download this
http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-iv/tools/1976
Put it in the root directory
3)Download mod files, put them in your root directory.
4)???
5)Watch this

everytime you turn around too fast or trying to aim. Other than that the mod feels great.

i can't access your first link. anyone have a link to the file i need to download?

i always wanted a fp experience in a gta type of world. would buy DLC for the console version

OP, do you have a steam version or retail?

Works with the Steam version, along with the Steam version of Episodes.

With everyone saying GTA4 runs like crap, I seem to get a constant 30+ FPS with everything on high etc.

No idea why the first person view (while walking/shooting) wasn't already in the game.

There are so many little details that were missed due to forced 3rd person view. If they were going for realism over antics, like they were, this should have been an option.

Now I need to get my hands on GTAIV PC...

edit: Just watched the video of this mod. Wow...it feels like a completely new game. Exploring on foot in GTAIV got old for me after the quick novelty wore off, but I could literally explore for hours interacting with the environment with this. There are just so many unappreciated elements of the city's design that so many missed out on simply because the camera wasn't giving focus on it. This is incredible.

I hope Rockstar is listening.

Looks sweet, but I don't think it would completely change the game for me. I already thought the 3rd person view was quite immersive. Maybe I'd have to play it.

OK, I picked up GTAIV on Steam yesterday and will try this mod.

Any other recommendations for mods?

So can you not use the ENB mod any-more with GTA4?
Not if you update to the latest patch, no.

If you stay at the next to last patch (1.0.05?) you can use ENB together with the First Person mod for the ultimate GTA IV experience.

DL'd and played around with the first person mod just now and yeah it really makes the game way more immersive, and it does work with the latest patch. There are some quirks though. If you look behind you and down, you'll see your headless body. Also, don't wear hats...it doesn't look right.

The latest generation of MBPs will run the game better than a 360, the previous round, about the same as a PS3 (assuming the same settings of course).

I hope someone replaces the dashboard with higher res textures. That and the headless thing is the only thing that breaks the immersion with this mod...

I'd say ENB Series (it adds global illumination, SSAA, all kinds of crazy stuff) but it doesn't work with the Steam version. Instead pick up the universal shader patch so that you can get motion blur and depth of field without blurring the whole damn screen.

angle your view 'just' above the dash, you will avoid looking at the bloby texture.
its funny that Rockstar have made one of the best FPS's ever, and didnt include the option.
It would even work in the cut scenes!

Oh man, I'd seen the screenshots, but never the video of it actually running....

It's a whole new game. I don't usually fawn of stuff, but wow.
I want to play that kind of game.

Is there a way to get rid of that global brownish filter in this game? It's really distracting..
Also, with the same settings, I'm running GTAIV at like 40-50 FPS @ 1080p while the framerate dramatically drops with EFLC with far more pop ups. I hope that this is something Rockstar will address with a future patch.

Also, the GTA forums are kinda hard to navigate in terms of getting answers as it doesn't seem to be very active..

Wow. I feel like this might actually make GTA 4 good.

Wow why did I watch that. Now I'll be disappointed like a motherfuck if Rockstar doesn't include an FPS mode in the next GTA.

Fuck.

It really looks like a completely different game in first person. Definitely a different experience. Very impressive mod.

On the other hand, I'm completely against GTA being in first person. An option between the two would be cool but if they were to be committed to one, I'd pick third person for sure.

Watching people drive with this mod is kinda surreal. People driving crazy in 3rd person is to be expected, but watching these videos it's like "oh come on man, stop at the red light! Don't cut him off! OMG get back in your lane!"

I thought this would expose some of the texture work considering how much closer everything is, but Rockstar did a superb job. Honestly, the only things that need cleaning up are gun models and car interiors, even the driving animation is good enough.

It should really be an option for the next game. The world comes alive much more easily. With the third person camera it's easy to run by everything, you really have to take a second look to catch a lot of the detail(unparalleled in open world games really) that GTAIV has to offer.

So just to confirm, you can achieve a rock steady 60frames in GTAIV even with the ENB and first person mod? what kind of specs are needed to to do it?

No way they'll add something like this in the upcoming GTA game, the media and tards wouldn't be able to handle this type of realism.
