Best mod so far! (IMHO) GTA4 FPS mod

Would indeed be nice to play this game without having it constantly snapping my camera back to where Niko is heading.
It's like somebody is pulling my mouse.

So just to confirm, you can achieve a rock steady 60frames in GTAIV even with the ENB and first person mod? what kind of specs are needed to to do it?
Not quite 60 frames, but I get a very playable 30-40 frames with my 5870 2GB card and an overclocked i7 quadcore when running both ENB and First Person. It looks like this video, basically.

I can't help but feel that this is the game Rockstar should have released, but I guess then the Crysis-crybabies would have complained they couldn't max out the game

That video doesnt look even close to "30-40 frames", im not usually a stickler for frames, but that looks annoying as hell to play.
Did you bother reading the description? It is not my video and the framerate was cut by 10-15 fps by recording with FRAPS.

I said that I get 30-40 fps with both mods running.

I didn't think it would be that interesting but the way the camera moves when you walk/run actually makes it seem more immersive.

Very impressive, would like to see this as an option in future GTA games.

No, I read your post saying it looks like the video, how was I supposed to know im supposed to read more in the link, I just clicked on it to watch the vid.

I'm now convinced this is the direction they need to take the series. The sense of the world is so much better in that perspective, you can actually appreciate the incredible attention to detail in the game, and the random violence becomes really intense and quite chilling in first person, which more fits the serious direction they seem to be going for these days.

Well according to FRAPS running while watching the vid it was at 35-45 fps the whole time

Looks like a really cool mod, but I am just afraid that I won't be able to get a decent performance running ENB and FPS with my Radeon 4870.

This mod doesn't affect my frame rate at all. Still getting a solid 60+ except when making fast turns. There are some other issues with it. First, why does Niko's head vanish when you activate first person mode? It's not even that he's a headless body you can glimpse if you spin around fast enough, his shadow and reflection both mirror this. It's weird.

The main problem is the jerky aiming. It doesn't work. Melee combat is fine, maybe even better, but aiming a gun is a lesson in frustration. Very jittery and imprecise. The reticle likes to "hop" in increments instead of flowing smoothly like in a dedicated first person shooter.

Besides that, it's fantastic. Like others have said, the scale you get from a first person viewpoint is astounding. General movement is so far improved it's almost game changing.

God damn it, need to upgrade my video card, this looks really awesome, that video showed what the Liberty City atmosphere was like than me spending 50 hours in the full game.

I hope Rockstar at least takes a note from this.

No way they'll add something like this in the upcoming GTA game, the media and tards wouldn't be able to handle this type of realism.

If MW2 can get away with No Russian, adding this in should be no problem.

I now want to play GTA IV with this!

But dude, this mod, as awesome it is, is FAR from being the best mod yet. Not by a country mile.

Basically this

Couldn't get the mod to work. When I looked at the scripthook log, it said it failed to detect what version I had(steam). I copied all the files to the GTAIV directory, don't know what else to do.

I got this game during the steam sale and wow, I'm only getting 18-28 fps with an ati 5850.

Which ASI Loader should I use with EFLC?

Thanks.

1)http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=390582
put it in your GTA root directory.
2)Download this http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-iv/tools/1976
Put it in the root directory
3)Download mod files, put them in your root directory.
4) Start GTAIV - To activate FPS mode, press camera button twice (default is "v"). You have to do it when you get into the car as well but I believe only once should suffice

I'm just quoting subversus b/c I cleaned up his directions a little bit..I can also personally verify that it works for EFLC as well.

ok, so here is how to install it

put it in your GTA root directory. DO NOT MAKE SCRIPTS DIRECTORY.
2)Download this

Put it in the root directory
3)Download mod files, put them in your root directory.
4)???
5)Watch this

everytime you turn around too fast or trying to aim. Other than that the mod feels great.

Follow the directions I just posted. I bought the steam version too and it worked for me.

What settings and what CPU do you have?

And this is why PC spank the hell out of the consoles.
I want this on my ps3 ;_;
I wish Console developers put in a modding option for console games. So far only game that did so is UT3 PS3. Damn I want to swap skins and have new modes instead of paying for crappy dlc.

I agree. A lot of the DLC content that comes out (especially the map packs) isn't really any better than the maps modders have been making for years. The other thing that we haven't seen is the CS or DOTA type of mods for console games. But I suppose if a developer came up with a mod like that, it would be turned into a standalone game.

I believe skin mods are way better then the actual thing, well it's pretty much a fact. Tons of creative gameplay mods out there, but I tend to stick to regular gameplay. I just want to pimp out my guns and such. The quality of vanilla game model vs custom skin is dramatically in favor of mods. I have CS:S weapon skins installed that look way better then majority of guns we get in current games.

This all based on older games like CS 1.6-Source.

I don't think this necessarily makes GTA IV a better game, the third person camera helps distant the player from the violence.

Like no one would like uncharted in first person, its less cinematic that way. And GTA has always been a game where you get to make your own mob movie action scenes.

I'm not able to get this mod to run. Looking around mod sites it appears Rockstar Games is actively trying to block mods with patches. Modifying a PC game shouldn't be this hard in the first place. I suppose this is what you get with network services such as GFWL, achievements and leader boards and what not.

I'll try again later.

Yeah I have no Idea why it wont work for me. I tried to get it working yesterday, I fallowed your instructions which is exactly what I did yesterday and nothing ... steam version here as well. When was the last time you played it?

I disagree..Liberty City is the big draw in GTA and the closer view further highlights the environment..

Does anyone know if there's a ScriptHookDotNet that works with EFLC?

There's a mod that fixes that Taxi bug when you start adding new cars, but it only works with ScriptHookDotNet, and I can't get that to work with EFLC >.<

Just tested it...works like a charm

Does this have to have a certain patch level to run or does it matter?

Shouldn't matter. I've updated both EFLC and GTAIV to the most recent patch.

I'm on Windows XP 32-bit. I have an Intel dual core (2.40ish), 3GB ram, Geforce 8800 GTS.

Will this run? Will it run well under any situation?

Got the first-person mod to work. Incredible. Feels like a whole new game. :lol

I also tried the ENBseries mod but I don't know if it really makes a difference except kill some of my framerate? When I boot the game I get the ENB logo so I know it's activated, yet I don't see any AA or better lighting?

Here are a couple screens from the first area right after you start the game. Does this look like ENBseries is working?

Can not get this to work :( Just to confirm, in steps 2 and 3 by saying "your root directory" you really mean the GTAIV root directory, correct?
