Best platform to be gaming on, at this current point in time

I'd go with PC, PS3 and then 3DS. There are enough games on these platforms to please pretty much everybody.

Vita could also be a good choice if you love its current library.

The best platforms at this point of time for me is:

PC>Vita=Wii U=3DS

PC. Few reasons:

- The vastest and most diversified library of games on any platform.
- Virtually unlimited backward compatibility.
- Modding and tweaking as options.
- Loads of freeware, fanmade games, total conversions, etc.
- Emulation, potentially capable of turning your system in a desktop-sized interactive museum of all software from the '80s to this date.
- The most seamless ability to handle multitasking on any platform.
- Cheaper software.
- Flexibility. You will be the one deciding what performances you want and how much you will be willing to spend, with what input system to play, etc.
- The implicit confidence that not only your software will stick with you at any system update instead of becoming obsolete, but in many cases it will even improve with your future system purchases.

PS3 right now. All signs point to PS4 overtaking it once we get more games and the OS gets a few updates.

Vita could also be a good choice if you love its current library.

It was the Grrl gamer thread that claimed the lives of thousands of gaffers. Anyone who went in it and mentioned anything along the lines of "they do it for attention" got banned.

Ahhhh... I thought it was something 'real life' ...

Anyway, back on topic I would say 360

I have a PS3, Wii U, Wii and PS2(only for the damn Ace Combat trilogy that has yet to be remade in HD) also a had 360 but I stopped playing it because one simple reason. I pretty much game a hundred percent of the time on my PC. FPS there is no substitute for that Mouse when it comes to aiming. You will pry my cold dead hands off it before I try to play console shooters again (Halo is the only one I enjoyed hated COD and BF with a controller.)

And that I can find niche little game that will GROW because of the way valve and devs don't care about making tons of sales but of make fans organically come out and growing the player base of their games through good word and quality gameplay. Say Blade Sympony. Sorry but all I see is AAA release on consoles and then everyone moves on.... I want game that last a long time and PC provides that in spades. League, Dota 2, MMOs, Blade Sympony, Skyrim mod community and the still ever favorite TF2. The game on pc have lives and live too their fullest if they are quality work. Unlike the AAA consoles releases sent to die then thrown away as soon as possible by the devs and the publisher. Sorry but PC is the future and consoles are not. Count me in on only system that support true freedom in gaming.

PC is the easy choice I'd think.

If you don't want to include that then I'll say Wii U. Yeah, it sucks for third party games but the exclusives are there. Then again I'm also taking into account that I only ever managed to play a handful of Wii games and there's a massive backlog there that I was never able to experience.

I think as we get deeper into 2014 though that it will end up being to Xbox One, at least for me. Fall 2014 is pretty stacked right now and it's going to be an exciting 4-5 months.

Really depends on what kind of games you like and what have you played. I'm going with PS3DS + PC.

Wii U offers a pretty good list of exclusives too.

PC.

1. Larger library of games
2. Larger variety of games
3. Exploration in different ways to develop, distribute and monetise games
4. Play games how I think they should be played, not how someone else has decided.

Nothing else gets anywhere near the playtime as much as my PC. I do own every other main video game platform (all current gen and last gen handhelds, all current gen and last gen consoles, Android devices, iOS devices.)

PC.

But for consoles it would be PS3 for last gen (PS+ and Sony is still supporting it) and PS4 (PS+ and better multiplats) for current gen, if we're talking about just gaming.

depends what you mean by best. all i know is that the PS4 is packing a monster 1.8TF GPU, has a library of literally dozens of games and functionality so streamlined, you'll never want to use it for anything but games. you can say PC all you want, but you'd need two full hands to count the number of games only available on PS4.

Has to be PSVita for me. Best of both worlds in terms of being able to play PS3 and PS4 games through cross play. Really enjoy it. Nothing has me in next gen at the moment and after seeing next gen it's always hard to go back to past/current gen. So PSVita followed by my 3DS and then PC right now.

I'd need a calculator to count the number of games only available on PC, though.

One full hand.

The other hand has some free fingers.

PS3 for me when it comes to the vast library of games and of course not paying for multiplayer. PS Plus is unprecedented value as well actually, in terms of the games you get with the service, especially if you have a Vita and PS4.

I guess PC would be the obvious choice considering the wide range of games and multiple ways to get them, but I think most consoles these days are great.

PS3 has amazing exclusives, has the instant game collection with PS+, cross buy/save with Vita/PS4, more games coming soon and a new model and price drop could really push it further.

Vita has great love from indies and a wide variety of games to play, has PS4 remote play and can sometimes act as a second screen for PS4 games, can play PS1 and PSP games on the go and can play Final Fantasy's 1 through to X-2.

3DS is a powerhouse when it comes to Nintendo games and other Japanese developers with a wide variety of games. It also has Pokémon so that's me sorted.

Wii U makes me smile more than the other consoles due to Nintendo's output with some of their greatest games they've ever made, has good indie support and playing off-TV is very neat.

PS4 is only getting started but it already has a good collection of games and great indie support. E3 will hopefully show us what's really around the corner. Also has instant game collection from PS+ like PS3 and Vita which already makes it worthwhile in my opinion.

I can't say much for Xbox One as I don't own one myself (my flatmate does but hardly uses it), but I imagine E3 will also showcase some good games. Looking forward to seeing Quantum Break personally.

WiiU and Vita for me personally. I had a great 3DS craze for the past few month so that platform is resting. PS4 is underwhelming for me at the moment.

PC is only if you got a decent budget. Gaming on mid or low end PC is no fun. Every game I go thru the advanced settings and seeing everything low or medium, really sadface.

He made an offensive post in a "Girl Gamer" thread and got banned for it, probably. I won't quote it, though it shouldn't be hard to find.

It's been two weeks since then, so no one knows if it's a temp or a perma. I'm betting a month, but don't hold me to it.

Ah okay. Just a ban then. No cause for alarm.

PC, always and forever.

Don't forget PC also includes emulating consoles below PS360.

Wii can also be emulated as well

Emulation is great, but it is worth noting that a lot of the time if you want to do it legitimately you need the console as well to do your own rips, either of the games or in some cases, the BIOS.

Emulation deserves a mention because a lot of the time it represents a way to play these games at a higher resolution and with AA not available on the console.

Wow, dozens of games? Amazing!
