Best Pokemon Revision: Crystal, Emerald or Platinum?

Hrm

Emerald is better than Platinum, and Crystal is better than Emerald, but Platinum is the biggest improvement and Crystal the smallest.

So:

Crystal > Emerald > Platinum for quality

Platinum > Emerald > Crystal for value

Platinum easily for salvaging the worst two games and turning what was the worst region into something special and introduced several of the best recurring characters with a much needed expanded story.

It's a pity X and Y never got the Z they were setting up for.

Crystal doesn't compare to Emerald and Platinum, it's not nearly as tight. It's a big toss up between those two because Platinum has better core mechanics and multiplayer but Emerald has better encounters. Both have great post game content. Platinum has cooler moments like the distortion world which is still such a cool concept.

Emerald. Original Battle Frontier was fucking awesome and it's green so it automatically wins in my book. The fact that ORAS ignored the changes emerald did is a testament to how garbage gen 6 is.

Yeah, that gen needed a Z desperately. Sort of wish they had focused on that instead of ORAS, honestly. But oh well.

Quoted for the truth. Don't get the love for Platinum. Yellow is also great.

Wasn't NEARLY as good.

Explain yourself

Platinum made bad games good. Black and white 2 made good games better, if they count.
B2W2 made good games look good in a different way. B2W2's post-game and sidequests are great but you can't not say that the campaign pales when compared to it's predecessor, especially when it comes to your ungodly annoying rival.

Haven't really been into Pokémon since gen 3, (played Diamond but didn't enjoy it that much) so I'll have to go with Emerald.

It was by far my most played Pokémon game and the one I accomplished the most in. Collected so many Pokémon and also wasn't that far from beating all of the Battle Frontier leaders as well.

Edit: I definitely do have a fondness for both Yellow and Crystal though.

Platinum. No contest.

I think DP are better than most people give it credit, but it does have a lot of objective flaws. Platinum fixes so much of that game. Sinnoh is the best region and they just added more stuff to that as well.

Emerald because the best battle frontier, didnt get the 16 extra badges (mainly because the gen after released kinda soon after, and perl was my first japan imported game) , if it had online it would be the best game in the series, period.

Forgive the n00b question as I'm not exactly nuts about Pokemon and only play a few games occasionally, but what kind of improvements do the 3rd iterations bring to the table? Like in the case of Platinum, if I remember right the locations and everything were pretty much the same as Diamond/Pearl. So even if the game had better mechanics frankly I can't really see the point as it would feel too much like playing the same game twice...or thrice.

Platinum did the impossible: fixed the shit show that was Diamond and Pearl. And not only that, but it's actually an incredibly fun game and has some of the best post-game content in a Pokémon game to date. Even better than Emerald's BF, IMO.

Emerald is second, though. Crystal is nowhere near either.
