Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
The first thing you see on my police's website:

Oh man, now that is a classy website.

Milwaukee's IT department is like the SWAT of the IT world. Probably put their entire SWAT budget into that awesome website.

in america, even emergency service homepages look like CoD boxart.

i'm pretty disappointed by the lack of dubstep and references to bitches gettin got.

Weird website. I was pretty disoriented at first because it loaded slowly. The floating badge on the left looks terrible. I understand why it would be considered good, but I'd much prefer something like the Chicago website already posted.

It's interesting, but possibly overdesigned for what it is. It feels kind of skinned, and unfortunately also feels pretty cold and 'badass'—not necessarily a good thing in major metro areas, where there may be at least a mild mistrust for police already.

It makes the police feel very OTHER.

Edit: Might not be a bad approach for a recruitment site, however.

parallax on a municipal website? There's a part of me that wants to say "Parallax is dead."

Very cool though, glad to see someone's forward-thinking with municipal sites.

needs to be more useable. Its just like University websites Everything you actually need is several small link clicks away and everything that is pointless is right there on the.

It's too much of blog for me.
With my police force, I can type in my postcode and see who my neighbourhood policing team are, theres plenty of information available, along with crime maps for the local area.
