Looking forward to getting a PSPGo soon - and since I haven't touched my old PSP in a long time, I'm wondering what you guys think are the best RPGs out on the system - preferably available to download.

I like more traditional RPGs - like Blue Dragon, FF, etc. Also a big fan of SRPGs -

So what are your recommends?

Persona
Disgaea 1 and 2
FFT
Jeane D'arc
Brave Story (confused it with Brave Fencer Musashi :P)
Star Ocean Second Evolution

I don't know about the download status on all these games though.

Final Fantasy Tactics, Crisis Core, Tales of Eternia, Breath Of Fire III, Star Ocean Second Evolution, Jeane D'arc

Ones I bolded should be available now on the PSN (North America)

Does anyone know if BoFIII (un-released in NA) will be available for NA on PSN?

I saw it in a store the other day new, imported from Europe, and it was like $70... no thank ya

I feel like I see this thread pop up every week.

Anyway, for my money, the best ones are either Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics, or Brave Story: New Trailer.

Valkyrie Profile is good, too, if you can stomach it's weirdness. The Disgaea games are love-or-hate, so you'll have to figure those out for yourself.

I've also heard good things about Jeanne D'arc, but haven't played it.

Dissidia is a fun fighter/rpg, but definitely more the former than the latter. Just saying...

Jeanne D'Arc is great.

I'm also loving Wild Arms XF at the moment, which seems to continue to fly under the radar.

Final Fantasy VII:Crisis Core
Star Ocean:Second Evolution
Tales of Eternia
Ys:Ark of Napisthim
Disgaea 1
Disgaea 2
Final Fantasy Tactics:War of the Lions
Jeanne D´Arc
Crimson Gen Saga
Tales of the World Radiant Mythology
Brave Story Travellers

And if you speak japanese there are lots and lots of them...

Some of these games aren't available.

FFTA
YS
Both Tales games
Star Ocean

It's nice that they're out there, but not for the go. Not now at least.

All the best PS1 RPGs.

Either use CFW, which blows or re-buy them at a rate of one game at a time when SONY bothers to bring them onto PSN.

Hope springs eternal that PSPGo's release will hasten this.

Or you could stick them in your PS3 and remote play.

Jeane D'arc is really, really good. I got a lot of hours of entertainment out of that game. It's more srpg, but still, it's great.

Crisis Core was pretty boring.

Not sure if you are kidding but seriously,I actually enjoyed that little RPG...Brave Story is good also...Jeanne D'Arc and the like are Strategy RPG's though, keep that in mind ;)....the Dungeon Siege game is also pretty good.(great music)

Crimson Gem Saga is okay but it has some really weird spikes in difficulty.

Was anyone else surprised that that only Square Enix game in today's PSP store update was Thexder Neo?

I was expecting we'd at least see Dissidia and Crisis Core, which I had planned on being my first two purchases for the Go.

Surprised? No.

This is Sony project we're talking about here. If it wasn't launched half-assed rife with promises of future glory if we'd just wait a while, well, then I'd be surprised.

I can go get these games at retail, yes. But I want to buy them from the PSN store. I'd love to give Sony more of my money here but they need to get their shit together first.

Why is everyone so quick to blame Sony? This was Square Enix's decision, and they chose to wait.

Link?

EDIT: and to answer your question, it would be the years of mind boggling decision making and their habit of over promising then under delivering. They've earned the blame.

Weirdness?

VP rocks.

Added bonus, liking VP gets you a free get-out-of-banning card from Dragona
Not really

How is Jean d'Arc if you already own FFT?

The systems are a more basic, as is the fighting overall but the difficulty is there. The graphics are nice, and the story is a nice interesting twist on the Joan of Arc saga. A very solid SRPG overall.

Never really got into Jean d'Arc, I guess maybe because I was bouncing between that, disgea and Tactics :lol maybe once im done with D2 ill go back to it.

I don't have a link, but I'm looking at a PSN store loaded with 1st and 2nd party titles. You don't think they wanted as many games as possible for the Go launch? Anything is possible, I'm just saying SE is no stranger to baffling decisions themselves.

Wild Arms 2 off the PSN store. Go for the hilariously bad translation, stay for the great gameplay.

Ill second this one, just finish Wild Arms 2 a couple weeks ago.

These are on my next to play list;

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (need to acquire)
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (need to get back into this one)
Jeanne d'Arc
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

Jeanne D'Arc, hands down from what I see available on PSN. (actually, my number 1 choice is Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, but I don't think thats exactly what you mean by RPG). It's a fast paced SRPG which plays much quicker than FF Tactics and doesn't require nearly as much grinding (unless I was playing FFT completely wrong/really sucked at it). Cheesy story/plotline and cheesy cutscenes, but the gameplay is good and your main characters can become super badass and tromp through like 6 enemies in one round (with one character) if you play right. Really easy to get into and a great intro to the genre if you are not familiar with grid based SRPGs.

I own several of the well-known titles, but will in this post exclusively give props to an rpg that could benefit from more attention: Brave Story: New Traveler.

The only thing I bought off PSN for more than $6 and worth it. Lot more game here than the smallish install might suggest as well. Cute style sort of fades into the background as the well-tuned and enjoyable turn-based rpg gameplay asserts itself.

I liked Jeanne D'Arc to begin with, but by the end it had worn pretty thin.

The character 'classes' are extremely basic and nothing like what FFT has, and the story is merely ok considered alone, but next to FFT it's like a Saturday morning cartoon for the most part.
