This is a recent good one. Filmed in glorious Hackney-o-vision.

Imagine if Mike Leigh made a serial killer movie.

and keeping the British end up, Mum & Dad. Not strictly a serial killer flick, more a family killer flick.

It's a TV movie but don't let that put you off. If you want to feel very sad and frustrated, watch this.

Very good, I'd recommend it.

Haven't seen this, but I've been meaning too. It has a decent rotten rating!

I didn't care for it. It's more of a slasher movie than a story of a serial killer. A lot of supernatural elements.

Also, from Belgium:

The second one is one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. Made up as a documentary. Later including the camera man and the serial killer raping a woman etc.[/QUOTE]

Good taste.

Over breakfast this morning my gf and I were talking about serial killers, because we're awesome like that, and the conversation turned to serial killer movies we've seen and our favorites. Surprisingly I found myself blanking over all but some of the most obvious ones. Off the top of my head:

Zodiac
The Silence of the Lambs
Manhunter

All three above are awesome but what other obvious ones am I missing? Also if there any really good lesser-known ones that I should know about, fill me in!

you miss Seven? are you kidding?

Lots of good ones mentioned already. I don't think Mr. Brooks gets nearly the credit it deserves, very solid film.

Mr. Brooks
I was going to say this. Maybe not quite up there with the absolute best, but an underrated film and a surpirsingly good performance by Costner.

I'd second the Korean film Chaser. One of the best overall, and easily the best Asian film in this subgenre, IMO.

And fuck that Henry film, was like the most disturbing thing ever. Good though.

Augh just read the comic. Pisses all over that abortion.

Also M is one of the best despite being so old. I think Zodiac is the most realistic SK film I've seen, though I havent seen Henry.

Memories of Murder > Chaser. I did like Chaser too and I don't get the hate it gets but Memories of Murder is easily the best serial killer flick in recent years. Then Zodiac and the Cahser.

Never seen Man Bites Dog.... but is that a baby pacifier??????
Got a problem with that ? :lol

"C'est arrivé près de chez vous" is the original title. Be sure to watch it someday. Cult classic.

Now we're getting into the gruesome shit. Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer and this film will test your fucking will.

They are the dark side of the films referenced in this thread. Also Man Bites Dog is really good, and yes that is a pacifier.

chk out man bites dog if you haven't seen it, its v well done and surprisingly funny but in the darkest, darkest way. There really isn't much else like it out there.

Henry was good but I'll never watch it again, way too much for when I was younger and I am definitely getting more squeamish as I get older.

ya for sure ted bundy. its so bad that its funny which turns it into a great movie to drink to. everyone watch it with ur friends and have alcohol readily available. ull be drunk in 30 min

American Psycho
Zodiac
The Silence of the Lambs
Manhunter
Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer
Seven

...all covered.

Thread over?

I was wrong, I forgot about:

Psycho
M
Natural Born Killers
Man Bites Dog
The Honeymoon Killers
Peeping Tom

The Vanishing: I'm pretty sure that's not a serial killer. Same goes for Insomnia. I'm referring to the original/better versions of both.

I took it as
implied at the end, when he is shown stalking his next victim

Not a movie, but the best serial killer show ever made.

This. Most rewarding show I've ever watched. It can take a little bit to get into, but it really does pay off in the long run. There's no other show quite like it.

Yeah, Zodiac, Silence of the Lambs and Manhunter are definite classics (still waiting on the Hannibal Lecter Anthology blu-ray to go under $40.) Seven is good to, although I don't like it as much as I did when it first came out.

I really like Dexter, haven't seen the fourth season yet though.
