I Love that :)

"PLAY IT LOUD!" was a really fun time in the SNES' history. That was when so many awesome games like MK2 (with blood intact), DKC and Killer Instinct dropped... Oh, the memories!

I also liked "Live in your world, play in ours" during the PlayStation days.

I only saw this Playstation ad once, as a large billboard by the L.I.E. going into Manhattan, showing only a modest grayscale image of the PS, with the words,
"To him, it's like getting a dozen roses."

I loved it.

Might be the best but much like similar Sega ads of the day, its riddled with innacuracies and gross distortions of truth that ultimately lead to Sega's hardware demise

Yeah it was the ads that killed Sega's hardware division. Not the mass internal bickering from Sega USA and Sega Japan, not the gross missmanagement at the end of the megadrives life, not adding pricey unsupported add-ons that damaged their image and consumer faith, not changing Saturn specs halfway through and thus ending up with something really hard to program for, not launching the Saturn at a stupid price, not alienating developers, not facing the most successful and hyped console ever (PS2), not Sega running out of money even though the Dreamcast was doing ok.

No, none of that, it was the ads. :rolleyes

If only we had known, someone could have warned them and avaoided all of this!!

As for the point of the topic, SEGA pretty much had the best ones, with "Sega does what NintenDONT" being the best of the bunch.

"Now your playing with POWER!"
"Genesis does what Nintendon't"

The only slogans I ever cared for growing up in the 80's early 90's.

'pureesuteeshon' said in a monotone female voice. (do they use this one outside of Japan?)

PS2 ads here always start with a sound, that I can't really explain. It's really effective because if I hear it, almost in a pavlov response I turn around and watch the commercial.

To this day, I think these two are dead ringers for the #1 spot.

Tough to forget seeing the NES ads that proclaimed, "Now you're playing with power," and the follow-up for the 16-bit era, "Now you're playing with power... Super Power."

Sega's "Genesis does" campaign was the company's first real decent ad run. That commercial featuring people like Michael Jackson, Pat Riley, and Buster Douglas saying "Genesis does" was catchy.

Genesis... does
Genesis... does!
Genesis does what Nintendon't!

I also liked how "Now you're playing with power" became "Now you're playing with power... Super power" for the SNES.

I dont know about slogans but the fly plaything, fly and the commercial where sony is shooting saturns from a skeet shoot are classics.

I must say that the Uk's Sega (Mega Drive/Genesis) slogan is the best ever.

"To be this good takes ages"
(sonic walks across screen and spins "ages")
(the word stops to reveal the real slogan)

"To be this good takes sega"

The Sega Scream is up there with the great marketing campaigns of all time and one of the great one word video game moments, right next to "TOASTY!" in it's greatness and just plain wackiness.
