Personally, I'm partial to 1000 Words' orchestral version, which is why I included it as opposed to the original. I think it's just such a moving song and I enjoyed the way it was incorporated into the game's soundtrack.

Eyes on Me comes in second place, but loses a few points for the non-sensical engrish lyrics. Kimi ga iru kara and My Hands are pretty cute too.

Note: By vocal, I mean songs by pop singers. Fithos Lusec and One Winged Angel don't count.

Somnus because it's part of what made me care about Versus XIII to begin with. Also ...Yoko Shimomura.

edit: what? songs by pop singers? why not just say that. "vocal songs" definitely doesn't imply that.

What an incredibly narrow definition of "vocal" song. And neither of the XIV themes were even listed. What about Crystal Chronicles? C'mon now...

Answers was the best recent one but I have to go back further to find my favorite vocal tracks of FF songs.

Home Sweet Home from their second vocal collection album is probably my favorite, followed by the Prelude on the same album.

Eyes On Me.

FF7 was originally envisioned with a pop theme song. I wonder what we'll get for the remake.

I'm still holding out for Utada Hikaru on Final Fantasy 15 since Shimomura is doing the soundtrack and Utada has come out of hiatus and is working on a new album.

PLEASE HIKKI.

Runner-ups are Suteki da Ne && Melodies of Life.

Can't be talking about Answers without remembering the End of an Era video played at the closing of FF14 1.0: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39j5v8jlndM

The first time I saw this I thought to myself... "THIS is Final Fantasy".

So much. Certain aspects of FFXIV ooze "Final Fantasy" in a way that nothing has really done, not even FFIX, as much as that really doesn't make sense.

Yeah, End of an Era and everything it represents is like one of the best things ever to come out of Final Fantasy. Even if you don't play Final Fantasy XIV, you have to admire the fact that this entire video was made as a promise that they'd never forsake the game. And Answers is just so good.

I can't reliably select a winner since each song is innately associated with its source work, so as good as, say, 1000 Words can be, it's connected to the travesty that is FFX-2.

Disclaimer aside, my choice is Melodies of Life or Answers. Be aware, FFIX is my favorite game of all time.

Ramuh - Final Fantasy XIV
I love stuff like this so much.

Not your traditional pop vocal song or melodramatic really. It just tries new things and sets a great incredible vibe and mood. It's what I want out of video game music and I think it's great at giving a sense of place.

Are you confusing FFXV with KH3?

Nice choice! Love that track too. Brings an amazing mood to the battle.

I actually love what they do with vocal themes in XIV, lots of diferents genres. From Shiva, Ravana to Alexander.

Honeys, where does it say that you can nominate a song that I didn't list?
