Best Wii games with minimal/no motion controls

I bought a Wii at launch, but quickly got bored with it as I hated waggle centric games like Zelda and Wii Sports. A friend just offered me their Wii in return for some work I did for them, so I was wondering what are the best games on the system with minimal use of waggle or that can played entirely with the classic controller? :)

Castle Shikigami 3 uses classic and/or traditional.

Ultimate Shooting Collection(Radio Allergy & Karous w/ Chaos Field) uses remote w/ nunchuk, but no motion.

sin & punishment 2, little king's story, mario kart wii

but especially sin & punishment 2. sin & punishment 2 so hard.

Donkey Kong Country: Returns

yea yea waggle to roll and blow, but really that is minimal.

Classic Controller
Monster Hunter Tri
No More Heroes 2
GoldenEye
Tatsunoko vs Capcom

Wii Remote-only (sideways)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Metroid Other M
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Donkey Kong Country Returns

And a few others... :p

Taking a quick glance at my shelf...

Dragonball: The Revenge of King Piccolo
Goldeneye 007
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Klonoa
Lego Series
Mario Kart Wii
The Munchables
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Sonic Colors
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wario Land Shake It

Someone correct me if some of these are wrong.

Plus everything on the Virtual Console.

the game makes you waggle so many times.

waggle to slap the ground
waggle to roll
waggle to blow air

if you have to get a 2d platformer for the system, get nsmbw. there's still some motion control stuff there, but it's less intrusive. the worst of it is picking up giant objects (stand next to it and hold button + shake controller).

How is Animal Crossing. I know it's basically the same game as the ds version but I am ready to go back and replay it. :)

Everyone says it is a no HD system. Does it have widescreen games?

yeah but what are you gonna do.

oh yeah- sonic colors. i played it with the wiimote, wiimote + nunchuck, dual shock 2, and gamecube controller, and the gamecube controller was the way to go.

I don't understand the thread title. The best Wii games are making a minimal use of the motion controls. :P

Also, do you consider gyroscopes a movement control? If not, (and even if you do), you should totally play the Kororinpa series.

Most of the important ones (with a few exceptions like earlier games...like WarioWare) are widescreen. If you have an HDTV, get component cables at least for 480p.

There are a lot of Wii games I'd play instead of AC. It's pretty much the DS game.

It's not HD, but it does 480p. Widescreen (and 480p) depends on the game but most first-party titles have them and generally the good third-party ones have them as well.

I played that with the CC. You can even use a GC controller.

I mean like, I have to wonder how someone can go 5 years without knowing whether or not the Wii can do widescreen.

Don't do this! Seriously, the motion controls are...minimal already, only used for a few moves. Playing with the CC will drastically affect your opinion of the game

The DS one is in my top five favorite games of all time. :)

Still added it for the recommendation. :p If he enjoys it (or not) he might give a try to "the motion controls" and see for himself.

Monster Hunter Tri is the only reasonable answer. Go and get your life sucked.

Oh, and obligatory Rune Factory Frontier. Such a waste not to have it.

Really wouldn't recommend this, though MH3 and TvC suit it well. No idea why anyone would bother with it for Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, either (unless they just want to make the game harder than it needs to be). Will throw in another vote in favor of Muramasa, though.

And this!

I ordered a copy of a Boy and His Blob. :D

I have a friend with a young son. They just bought a Wii this fall, and I was thinking about sending them that game as well. Is it OK content wise and playable by say a five year old?

noooooooooooooooooooooo it's so not minimal

If you homebrew your Wii and can play it with your classic controller, do that.

Also, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Only a tiny bit of wobble, and sometimes ball/bird stages. Very minimal.

I reccomend Klonoa, Monster Hunter Tri, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
EDIT: Oh, and Little King's Story!

But I also reccomend you suck it up and try out the great motion controlled games, such as the Mario Galaxies, Metroid Prime and Sin & Punishment 2.

-DKCR (the roll waggle is the only downside, CC recommended)
-SSBB
-Muramasa
-A Boy and His Blob
-Galaxy 1/2 (very minimal use of waggle)
-Epic Yarn
-SnP2

-Super Meat Boy would have been great too... :(

OP, you have to guarantee us MH freaks that you'll give Tri a try. It is crack in videogame form.

for $20 I will try just about anything. I will order it in a few weeks when I have played through Muramasa, Boy and His Blob, and Animal Crossing. :)

This thread is really helpful! Thank you all! :D

Just be prepared for the first few hours of Tri to be pretty slow paced. From what I've played of the actual meat of the game with a friend though, it gets really good.

I wish Donkey Kong Country Returns had no motion controls. It'd be awesome. I hate how sometimes you can shake the control to break a block or something, but instead you die because it doesn't register, or if you're like me and have horrible wrists and hands, it gets painful to keep shaking the controller to do stuff.

Please don't lie to people. It came so close to ruining that nearly perfect game.
But if you have a softmodded Wii or have no issue with softmodding your Wii, by all means install the Classic Controller cheat and enjoy this game completely waggle-free.

I'd like to point out some quality WiiWare games:
-Blaster Master: Overdrive
-Mega Man 9 & 10
-BIT.TRIP RUNNER
-Art Style: light trax, Orbient, Rotohex, and Rotozoa

If you're after something pretty chill then Endless Ocean 2 can be played with a Classic Controller, but it only really uses the wiimote for pointing with the occasional waggle to dodge a shark.

And though it's been said I'm going to say it anyway (it can't be said enough); Little King's Story.
