Just seen the Kaine, Franken and warren q's
This lady is incompetent, needs to be declined
nope, she is in, GOP majority

The irony here is that if it weren't for the Democrats shoehorning in a law that allows controversial nominees to be approved on 51 votes as opposed to the traditional 60 -- done just last congress and against the strong objections of Republicans -- she might have a chance of being shot down.
The partisanship backfires in both directions.
you mean republican obstructionism forced the dems to do something that further benefited republicans when they took power
both sides tho
Are you going to argue that Republicans haven't been obstructionists these past few years, and that's it's merely a liberal viewpoint that makes them appear to be obstructionist?I wouldn't say it "forced" them to do anything. It's only obstructionist when you're on the side that's getting blocked, otherwise you're doing what you're there to do. They were following the rules of congress using a political weapon that has equally served both sides at various times throughout history. Why is it only obstructionist when the side you disagree with uses it?

How did Trump manage to pick the least qualified people for each of his potential cabinet members?
The only egregious example (which, btw, i was strongly against) was Merrick Garland. Aside from that i think both sides do everything in their power within the law to block the things they disagree strongly with
Govt shutdown?

this is going to be the dumbest, most incompetent, corruptest, evilest cabinet ever conceived
If dems can't translate that into midterm wins in 2018 . . .
Burr posted on his FB of how great she is and has more than 2,000 comments asking whether he paid attention to the hearing.
The GOP actually has shown a lot of respect for the filibuster. They already went to the brink on this issue during the GWB years when democrats were trying to filibuster all of Bush's judges (Obama even filibustered Alito later). But they changed the rule with only 52 votes, so what would have prevented the GoP from doing that themselves? Other than their staunch adherence to tradition?
Probably the worst pick of the litter in Trump's cabinet. Betsy De Vos and her millionaire ilk trying to profit off education and destroy teachers' unions are some of the most vile scum in politics.
This is a good article illustrating the kind of damage these people do: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/2016/12/08/when-public-goes-private-as-trump-wants-what-happens/
Yeah, all these noms are going to skate right in.
The slim hope I have is that Trump seems quick to get rid of people who make him look bad. After all, his signature phrase is "You're fired." When these picks invariably screw the pooch and he has to answer questions about their performance, I think he has no compunction about letting them go. He might not even allow them the dignity of resigning!
Kaine: I'm asking you a question. Should all schools that receive taxpayer funding be required to meet the requirements of individuals
DeVos: I think that is a matter better left to the states.
Kaine: Some states might be good, other state might not be so good, and then people can move around the country?
DeVos: I think that is an issue best left to the states.
Murphy: Do you think guns have any place in or around schools?
DeVos: That is best left to locales and states to decide. If the underlying question
Murphy: You can't say definitively today that guns shouldn't be in schools?
DeVos: I will refer back to Senator [Mike} Enzi and the school he was talking about in Wyoming. I think probably there, I would imagine that there is probably a gun in the schools to protect from potential grizzlies.

Everything was Sarah Palin.
Everything was Sarah Palin.
Proficiency:
All 5th Graders have to meet a certain set of standards, and all 5th Graders are measured to their standards.
Growth:
Student comes into 5th Grade reading on a 1st Grade level and leaves reading on a 3rd Grade level, showing two years worth of growth in one year. This student would fail a 5th Grade proficiency test and be considered a failing student, disregarding the growth they made in the year.
Honest to god, Sarah Palin is smarter. And that's not a compliment to her.

I'm not so sure this woman is going to get appointed, lotta right wing educators I know hate this woman. From what I have seen in my 7 years in education is that great educators, regardless of party line put education first. Maybe not enough but still gives me a little bit of hope.

Because he ran on a platform that villified "experts" and appealed to stupid people. How did Trump manage to pick the least qualified people for each of his potential cabinet members?
Even the Exxon Mobile CEO? Hopefully he will face resistance from Republicans and have no votes from Democrats due to Russian ties.
He got lavished with praise by Cory Booker
you know, that Cory Booker.
